Wexford special school channels famous musical for student's graduation

The ceremony was held in the Riverside Park Hotel where friends and families of the graduates gathered together in celebration of the 14 students of the hour. "They gathered with their family and friends to celebrate their time in St Patrick's and hear the great impact each one of them has made on us all,' a staff representative said. "Their teachers Maura, Jackie, Declan, Albie, and Elaine spoke about each student, and told us how proud they are of all the wonderful young people they have become. We wish them all the best as they prepare to say goodbye to St Patrick's and move onto pastures new,' they added. To add to the bittersweet feeling, the students and staff had created a beautiful video of the graduates singing along to a song off the soundtrack of smash hit musical Wicked. ''For Good' is a song form the musical Wicked about the profound and lasting impact that a close friendship has on individuals involved, even when they must go their separate ways. It acknowledges the bittersweet nature of parting ways and the enduring influence of that friendship on their lives. There wasn't a dry eye in the Riverside by the end of this video!' The school extended their warm wishes for the future to Ella, Ailish, Cameron R, Fionn, Dylan, Kenneth, Jacob, Ger, Larry, Cameron G, Wiktoria, Jamie, Cody, and Amber.

Kristin Chenoweth sings national anthem at NBA Finals, earns backlash

Many viewers at home weren't quite sold on the showtune flair. KRISTIN CHENOWETH SINGS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ???? PERFECT WAY TO TIP OFF GAME 7 ON ABC! — NBA (@NBA) June 23, 2025 Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo sing 'For Good' in first 'Wicked: For Good' trailer "This is the worst National Anthem I ever heard," one user wrote. "They got a opera singer doing the national anthem I'm done," another wrote. "Listening to the national anthem at that part," one user captioned a gif of NeNe Leakes seeming visibly taken aback. "They shoulda invited that girl who sang the national anthem in Spanish to sing there," one fan chimed in, referring to R&B singer Nezza's recent performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" in Spanish at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyonce in these 10 bingeable memoirs Though everyone didn't share Chenoweth's love for musical theater, her Oklahoma City Thunder still pulled off a win to take home the city's first title, defeating the Indiana Pacers 103-91. 'Up there with fergie': Other infamous national anthems One user in their criticism called back to one infamous rendition of the national anthem, adding, "this national anthem up there with fergie." Fergie's 2018 performance at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles drew much criticism at the time, leading the singer to explain to TMZ at the time, "I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best." Other recent notorious interpretations include country music singer Ingrid Andress, who performed the national anthem "drunk" at the MLB Home Run Derby in 2024, and Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav's version at a Milwaukee Bucks game in 2023.

Wicked For Good: Your Questions About The Cast And Release Date (Plus The Scarecrow And Tin Man) Answered

Excitement for the musical sequel Wicked For Good is really starting to build following the release of the new film's first trailer. We'll admit that when we first heard that the stage musical Wicked was being split into two, we rolled our eyes a little – but after seeing Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in action last year, we now can't wait for the second instalment. There are still a few months to go until our next trip to Oz, but we know you might have a few questions between now and then. So, here's everything we know about the second movie… Initially billed as Wicked Part 2, it was revealed towards the end of 2024 that the sequel would be given the subtitle For Good, based on the show-stopping eleven o'clock performed as a duet between Elphaba and Glinda towards the end of the musical. The decision was met with a mixed response, but Ariana has claimed that Wicked For Good was actually already being touted as a title for the project when it was being filmed. 'I'm glad it's official now because we grew rather attached to it,' she said last year. 'It's just the perfect title because this project really has changed us for good.' Fans of the original musical will know that the second act begins with Thank Goodness, an ensemble number that helps catch us all up with what's gone down among the cast of characters since we last saw them. Besides that, we can look forward to the dramatic Elphaba number No Good Deed, her duet with Fiyero, As Long As You're Mine, and, as mentioned above, For Good, which has become one of Wicked's signature tunes. There's also another solo for the Wizard, Wonderful which… yeah… let's not even go there. While Wicked's original composer extended the One Short Day sequence in the first film, he's gone one step further in the sequel, and penned two new songs. Director Jon M Chu recently confirmed that one of these will be a new solo for Cynthia, while another will be performed by Ariana. Wicked itself is a retelling of the events of The Wizard Of Oz, retold from the perspective of its witches, Elphaba (known in the 1939 film as simply the Wicked Witch Of The West) and Glinda (who comes to be known as the Good Witch Of The North). Act one begins with Munchkinland celebrating the news of Elphaba's death, before taking us back through her younger years to explore her years at school. The second act – on which Wicked For Good is based – revisits the characters later in life, with Elphaba exiled and a public enemy, thanks to efforts from the Wizard Of Oz and Shiz professor Madame Morrible, and still harbouring feelings for Fiyero, to whom Glinda is now engaged. It also addresses more directly how specific events in the Wizard Of Oz came to be, including Dorothy's arrival in Oz, and her becoming friends with the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Evidently, yes. While Dorothy is never seen on stage in the original production of Wicked, we've already caught a glimpse of her in the opening moments of the first film. Dorothy is also seen – once again from behind – in the latest trailer for Wicked For Good, suggesting the character will be more prominently featured in the movie than the stage musical. Chu told Vanity Fair: 'We tread lightly, but try to make more sense of how [Dorothy's arrival] impacts our girls and our characters than maybe the show does.' 'We're delicate. We're delicate. We're delicate,' he then insisted, reassuring anyone concerned about him taking any big swings away from the source material. It was previously reported that Matilda star Alisha Weir portrays Dorothy in the movie, though this is yet to be confirmed. Alright – we're going to be giving away some major Wicked spoilers now, so if you've never seen the stage musical and want to avoid these twists, just keep scrolling down to the next section. Did you hear that? Spoilers are ahead. Scroll to the next section if you want to avoid them. OK, we think they're gone. Let's proceed… So, Elphaba inadvertently creates the Scarecrow when she casts a spell on Fiyero – played by Jonathan Bailey – in an attempt to save his life in No Good Deed. The Tin Man, meanwhile, is created by Nessarose, who is played in the film by Marissa Bode. She attempts to use magic herself for the first time on Boq (Ethan Slater's character) to prevent her from leaving him, only for it to go awry, and turn him into the mechanic woodsman. As you've probably guessed, the Cowardly Lion is that same cub who Elphaba and Fiyero rescue in the first movie. Right here! Enjoy: The film will hit cinemas on Friday 21 November, with the film expected to be re-released in selective cinemas before then, to allow everyone to revisit the events of the first film. 9 Things We Need To Talk About Immediately In The New Wicked For Good Trailer 22 Weird And Wonderful Behind-The-Scenes Secrets You Probably Never Knew About How Wicked Was Made

We Know When Wicked For Good's Trailer Will Be Debuting, But There's A Bit Of A Catch

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's kind of an understatement to say that director Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good is a 'hotly anticipated' entry on the 2025 movie schedule. Anyone having doubts about my prediction could easily point to the fact that despite Universal's 2025 CinemaCon panel showing off some footage of the picture, fans haven't had the chance to gaze upon a trailer for the conclusion of this Oz-ified musical story yet. Well, I've got some good news and some news you might not be too pleased with, as you'll be able to see Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in full regalia real soon. However, it sounds like there's only one way you'll be able to get back to Oz for For Good's first trailer, and you'll have to click more than your heels. First, here's the good news: per a press release from Universal Pictures, the release of Wicked: For Good's first trailer is set to take place on June 4th! In fact, the event is being billed as something truly 'global,' as it's going to take place 'simultaneously in all North American time zones.' And that's where the catch comes in, as it sounds like you'll only be able to see this sizzle reel in theaters. But at least it's attached to special bring-back screenings of Wicked, which you can currently purchase tickets for. So it's not like you're showing up for a preview and then dipping to go back to lawn work. Now, I'm sure there are plenty of people who aren't afraid to return to a theater near them to see For Good's first trailer and laugh, cry, and potentially sing along with this meteoric box office hit of 2024. However, one has to wonder how many of those fans are ready to follow through with that desire, especially on a random Wednesday. Peacock TV: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearAll it takes is $7.99 a month to jump into the basic plan for Peacock TV. But with that investment, you not only get to stream Wicked, but you'll also find the documentary Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked. And with a special live musical event heading to NBC and Peacock this fall, you may want to keep that subscription active and enjoy everything the streaming home of NBC, Universal, and Bravo has to offer! View Deal While I'm someone who always advocates for the theatrical experience, especially when revisiting old favorites, I'd be foolish not to mention that a Peacock subscription could very easily scratch this itch for some, and right at this very moment. However, it would seem that Universal has some surprises in store for those who do choose to fly into the western sky once more to see Wicked and its sequel's trailer in theaters. So if you do go to this Wicked screening on June 4th, there's apparently going to be exclusive 'giveaways' for attendees. While that's a rather vague promise, what's for certain is that you'll be able to land yourself a commemorative poster for Wicked: For Good. And it I had to guess, it'll be a print of the image you see below: Don't take this the wrong way, but I can practically hear fans weeping over the mere invocation of that title, and the image of Elphaba and Glinda separated by a wide chasm that leads down the Yellow Brick Road. I mean, this is everything you would want out of a teaser poster - and it looks pretty spectacular. Though I'm not a die-hard obsessive over Wicked, I did really enjoy the first half of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande's journey. And while this isn't a $16K charity performance with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, I'm inclined to check this out for myself. Provided, of course, that this announcement hasn't led to another case similar to how Sinners' second IMAX 70mm run instantly sold out. So if you're rejoicifying that Wicked will be back in theaters AND you'll get to see the first trailer for its sequel during this special screening, go grab your tickets now! And don't forget that Wicked: For Good is set to hit theaters on November 21st; which may lead to some unsurprising double feature events. At least, one could only hope.
