FM Visits Burkina Faso to Deepen Bilateral Ties
Nada Mustafa As part of his African tour covering several West African countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, will head to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. This marks the second stop in his tour aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation with African sister nations. During his visit, FM is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with senior officials in Burkina Faso to discuss ways to boost cooperation across various sectors. The discussions will focus on sharing Egypt's expertise in development, capacity building, infrastructure, and energy. Dr. Abdelatty will also meet with members of the Egyptian business community and the Egyptian diaspora in Burkina Faso. The talks will address pressing regional challenges in the Sahel region, especially issues related to security and counterterrorism. FM Reaffirms Support for Diplomacy Over Iran-Israel Conflict
Nada Mustafa Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Saturday with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Weitkopf, as part of ongoing coordination and consultation between Egypt and United States (U.S.) regarding the rapidly escalating situation in the region. The two sides discussed the alarming developments stemming from the military escalation between Israel and Iran, which poses a serious threat to regional security and stability. Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need to halt the escalation, establish a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and resume negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear program. He stressed that there are no military solutions to conflicts, affirming that peaceful settlement and political dialogue remain the only viable paths to achieving sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East. FM holds several meetings on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Türkiye
Basant Ahmed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty held a series of meetings today, Saturday, with his counterparts from Chad, Gambia, Gabon, Somalia, Tunisia, and Djibouti, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Istanbul. The meetings addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and opportunities for joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields. The topics on the agenda of the ministerial meeting were also addressed, in light of current regional and international challenges. FM, Omani, Turkish counterparts discuss latest developments in region
Basant Ahmed Two phone calls took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, and Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, as part of their ongoing follow -up of the rapid developments in the region. During the two calls, they reviewed the worrying developments in the region and exchanged assessments of their dire repercussions on the security and stability of the region. They agreed on the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to reduce tensions and contain escalation in the region, taking into account the seriousness of the current situation and its consequences. They stressed the need to respect international law and the UN Charter. Egypt's FM Meets Syrian Counterpart on Sidelines of Oslo Forum
Taarek Refaat Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration met with Asaad Al-Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum. Tamim Khallaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Minister Abdel Aty listened to an explanation from the Syrian Minister regarding the political, security, and economic developments within Syria, as well as the internal and external challenges facing the country recently. On his part, Minister Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt's support for the Syrian people, its support for security and stability in Syria, and the preservation of the unity of its national institutions and capabilities, as well as the unity Abdel Ati stressed the importance of achieving sustainable stability in Syria by working to involve all Syrian national forces in the political process, reflecting the societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity within Syria. He also emphasized the importance of combating terrorism and addressing the phenomenon of foreign fighters to preserve sustainable stability in Syria.
