'I will relentlessly strive to strengthen BJP in Andhra,' vows Former MLC Madhav

VIJAYAWADA: Former MLC Pokala Vamsi Nagendra Madhav (PVN Madhav) assumed charge as the Andhra Pradesh State BJP president on the Formation Day of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), where he once served as a leader. Marking a new chapter in the party's leadership, Madhav was unanimously elected to the post. The responsibilities were formally handed over to him by MP D Purandeswari, the outgoing BJP president, at a ceremonial event held at the party's State office in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The day began with Madhav paying floral tributes to BR Ambedkar statue at Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram, followed by a massive rally of BJP supporters and cadre leading to the party office. Throughout the rally, chants and slogans echoed in celebration of Madhav's elevation to the top post. Addressing the media, Madhav expressed gratitude to the BJP national leadership and the party cadre for their trust in him. 'This is not just a position, it's a crucial responsibility. I consider it as an honour to lead the party during the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). I promise to uphold the trust placed in me and work tirelessly to strengthen the BJP in the State,' he vowed. He lauded the efforts of former presidents Somu Veerraju and Purandeswari, crediting their leadership for laying a strong foundation in the State. 'Under Purandeswari's leadership, the BJP won eight MLA and three MP seats in the recent elections, and Veerraju travelled across AP to energise the party base. I will carry forward their legacy,' he said. Madhav said the BJP is no longer a fringe party in AP but one with momentum, organisation, and a growing support base. 'My family and the BJP are inseparable. I will take the party forward with the guidance of senior leaders and the inspiration drawn from karyakartas across the State,' he asserted.

Hyderabad: The Shiv Sena Party Telangana president Sinkaru Shivaji on Thursday said that his party would contest the upcoming local body elections in the State and a big public meeting would also be organized in Hyderabad soon. The Shiv Sena Party Telangana President and others met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on the occasion of party's Formation Day. Shivaji said that his party would contest the upcoming local body elections going alone in Telangana. He said all Shiv Sainiks should work to strengthen the party in every village. 'Shiv Sena is a great Hindutva party that works for the country for the sake of dharma and Shiv Sena will support those who fight uncompromisingly for the sake of dharma in Telangana State. The Shiv Sena party always welcomes strong Hindutva leadership. We will soon hold a huge meeting in Hyderabad under the Shiv Sena party,' said Shivaji, adding there will be a lot of joining in the party before the elections.

HYDERABAD : Asserting that other parties are doomed and have no future in Telangana, IT Minister D Sridhar Babu stated that the Congress is gaining strength in the state, with dedicated workers present in every village. He was speaking at the Telangana Formation Day event in Karimnagar on Monday. Sridhar criticised the BRS and BJP for politicising the notices issued by the PC Ghose commission set up to detect financial irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project and conspiring against the Congress. He described Congress as a party that represents all castes, calling it the 'people's party'. Grandeur at Parade Grounds Nizamabad celebrated Formation Day on a grand scale at the Police Parade Ground. Government departments in the district showcased their services through specially decorated vehicles. Police officers and staff who rendered meritorious service were presented with certificates of appreciation. In Kamareddy, the celebrations were held at the IDOC. Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy attended the event. He stated that the government is committed to developing world-class infrastructure and delivering high-quality services to citizens.

Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy HYDERABAD: On the occasion of the 11th Telangana Formation Day on Monday, chief minister A Revanth Reddy set a new target of making the state a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and increasing its contribution to the GDP from 5% to 10%. Speaking at the Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds, the CM presented the progress report of the 16-month-old Congress govt and sought the cooperation of all political parties, bureaucracy, industrialists and all sections in the state to make Telangana number one in the country. He said the state govt was working in mission mode to ensure that Telangana plays a pivotal role in developing India into a $30 trillion economy by 2047 when the country would celebrate its Independence centenary. "As part of it, the Telangana Rising 2047 action plan has been prepared to turn the state into a $1 trillion economy in the next 10 years and $3 trillion by 2047. The govt has plans to not only develop Telangana as the number one state in the country but also make it capable of competing with the world," the CM said. While sharing several achievements of the state govt such as Rs 20,600 crore crop loan waiver for farmers, nearly 60,000 govt and one lakh private jobs for the unemployed and other welfare schemes, the CM referred to the apolitical stand of the Congress govt in Telangana for the country by extending full support to the Centre and the armed forces during Operation Sindoor.

The evening blended tradition and international glamour, as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma welcomed the beauty queens who have spent the past month touring the State. The gathering, held over high tea, was steeped in Telangana's cultural spirit, with the guests of honour receiving traditional performances that showcased the region's artistic diversity. The ceremony began with each of the contestants invited to share their reflections on their month-long stay in the State. representing Thailand, expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality extended by Telangana and spoke fondly of her experience. 'From the very first step in Telangana, I felt the warmth, not just from the sun, but from people's smiles. To me, Telangana is a place where tradition blends beautifully with innovation. It is a State that represents beauty, progress and world-class healthcare, which is close to my heart.' Continental winner from Africa Miss Ethiopia Hasset Dereje, the first runner-up, echoed the sentiment, describing Telangana as her home for the past month. Second runner-up and Continental winner from Europe Miss Poland Maja Klajda, visiting India for the first time, called the experience unforgettable. 'Telangana is full of celebrations, traditions and, most of all, beautiful people,' she said, asserting that it would not be her last visit. Continental winner from the Americas Miss Brazil Jéssica Pedroso, third runner-up, reflected on India's diversity and the unity she witnessed in Telangana. 'I have learned something very special here: despite our differences, we can be united. Telangana has shown us that diversity is a strength,' she said. Continental winners from Caribbean Miss Martinique Aurélie Joachim called her visit a dream come true, while Miss Philippines Krishnah Gravidez, representing Asia, celebrated the State's resilience and sense of community. Miss Australia Jasmine Stringer, representing Oceania, lauded the hospitality and vowed to spread the story of Telangana's warmth across the globe. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, addressing the gathering, said the event was a reflection of Telangana's inclusive spirit and deep-rooted cultural ethos. 'Telangana is a place where everyone feels they belong. It is a shining example of how development and heritage can go hand in hand.' He noted that the Miss World delegates had explored historic and modern landmarks across the State, from the Ramappa and Thousand Pillar Temples to the dynamic tech hub of Hitech City. Highlighting the evening's eco-conscious touch, the Governor drew attention to the leaf plates used for serving high tea, handcrafted by tribal communities. 'These plates are not just sustainable, they represent our belief in thinking globally and acting locally,' he said. Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, and Director General of Police Jitender were among the dignitaries present. The event concluded with the felicitation of the beauty queens by the Governor, Chief Minister, and Tourism Minister. In a symbolic gesture, Miss World presented a garland to the Governor, explaining that in Thai culture, garlands signify love and respect.
