Free weekend bus travel announced for August in Leicestershire
People are being offered free bus travel on new routes across Leicestershire during weekends next services will include journeys in Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough on all Saturdays and Sundays in routes operating on Saturdays only will be available to places including Leicester city centre, Loughborough, Hinckley, Coalville, Uppingham and Oakham In County Council said the new services aim to improve access to local amenities, attractions, country parks and leisure destinations. Charles Whitford, the council's lead member for highways and transport, said: "This is a brilliant opportunity to travel completely for free in August and try out new and improved bus services in your area."There is also the added benefit of cutting pollution and helping improve air quality in Leicestershire."Services that will be free at weekends in August include all MC services in Melton Mowbray and all HC services in Market Harborough.A total of 16 LC bus services and all zones on FoxConnect on-demand buses, will be free on Saturdays in LC6 service between Coalville and Hinckley will only be free on 30 county council said the initiative was available to every passenger, with no age can visit attractions including Bradgate Park, Twycross Zoo, Fosse Park, Gates Garden Centre and 1620s House and Garden.

Bus service changes for Leicestershire confirmed
New stops at railway stations and tourist attractions have been added to bus services in Leicestershire following a county council review. The council has announced that changes, which also include the introduction of free travel for a month on a bookable service called FoxConnect, will kick in from 14 follows a review of services partly funded by the government. The changes also aim to connect new developments in Loughborough, north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth with towns, villages, other transport routes and destinations including Twycross Zoo and 1620s House. Councillor Charles Whitford, cabinet member for highways, transport and waste, said: "The new routes are developed with residents in mind. "Importantly, they're designed to reduce journey times, link rail stations and newer housing developments and unlock better links to towns and villages across the county."The changes include: Service 2 from Kinchbus will now run hourly with a re-route in Loughborough to cover part of the previous route 13, providing access to Great Central Service 5 will be re-routed to serve the Haddon Way/Grange Park estate and improve access to Loughborough's town centre, replacing the temporary Service north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth, the former Service 7, now called LC12 will offer a fixed bus service during key commuter times to serve Witherley, Fenny Drayton, Atherstone, Ratcliffe Culey, Sibson, Carlton, Market Bosworth, Newton Burgoland and zones eight, nine and 11 will be introduced by LA Travel to serve the north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth formerly Service 125, which runs from Coalville to Leicester has been re-designed to provide a "direct service with reduced journey times", the council county council has organised drop-in events for residents to find out about the changes in next event is at Coalville Library on Monday from 11:00 to 13:00 BST, before one is held at Hinckley Library on Friday between 11:00 and 13:00.

On-demand bus service set up to serve Market Harborough
A new on-demand bus service has been set up to serve a town in Leicestershire, and will be free for several FoxConnect service, which launched on Monday, allows passengers to book travel to and from Market Harborough across five different zones, which are centred around nearby rural villages. Bus services across Leicestershire to expand
More than 20 Leicestershire villages with no bus routes are set to be served by a raft of new bus network centred on the Charnwood and Harborough areas is being expanded with changes to nine services.A new FoxConnect on-demand bus service is also being launched for five south Leicestershire areas around Tilton on the Hill, Great Glen, Church Langton, Ashby Magna and County Council transport lead Ozzy O'Shea said the authority had "listened to people's feedback". "We have focused on individual community needs."Buses and public transport are a cheaper and greener option to get around"Adding Sunday services and evening routes means that people will have more journey choice, making buses and FoxConnect the preferred method of travel."Further changes will take place in April, while town services will be reviewed this summer.
