Cowboys Can't Waste 'Blow It Up' Plan Under New Coach

Cowboys Can't Waste 'Blow It Up' Plan Under New Coach originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Dallas Cowboys know that what transpired last year can't happen again, and certainly not after the positive offseason we've seen from the franchise. Advertisement With Brian Schottenheimer now in the big chair, he has overseen significant changes both on and off the field, thanks to a solid free agency and draft haul, coupled with several coaching changes. All of that was part of what dissected last offseason as a "Blow It Up'' plan. That was about a combination of inactivity and savings when it came to roster-building going into 2024 ... and major changes - including the dismissal of coach Mike McCarthy - at the end of the 7-10 campaign. But "Blow It Up'' is over. Now it is time to recover from the pain and to capitalize. And the post-McCarthy vibes are good at The Star. Advertisement Training camp is under a month away, and we'll get to see how long those good vibes last with the staff able to get a proper evaluation of every player on the roster. Such has been the level of positivity this offseason that some are hopeful Schotty can lead this franchise back to the playoffs —and possibly beyond. Will it happen? Who knows, but when you have true belief, anything is possible. However, for that to happen, the Cowboys have to show they are better than they were a year ago, and for Fox Sports' Ben Arthur, when naming one word to describe the offseason, "rebound." "With quarterback Dak Prescott back healthy, the Cowboys will look to return to the playoffs in 2025," Arthur writes. "They traded for receiver George Pickens and a pair of former first-round defenders (linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr., cornerback Kaiir Elam) to give their team a boost under new coach Brian Schottenheimer." Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian SchottenheimerKirby Lee-Imagn Images There are many unknowns about the Cowboys under Schottenheimer, with numerous new faces, a different coaching approach, and adjustments to the system. Advertisement However, there is also a benefit to change. With a revamped run game and offensive line, and with Dak Prescott now having two genuine receiving weapons, fans are no longer looking at Dallas as dead in the water. Granted, we are in June, so we can't be steadfast in our convictions just yet. But things are nicely poised for the Cowboys to "rebound" under Schottenheimer. Birmingham film director describes working with Tom Cruise

A British director whose company made the iconic opening teaser for the Super Bowl, starring Tom Cruise, has said the actor was "genuinely the nicest guy".Jake Barrett, founder and production director at BTV in Birmingham, said the Hollywood star introduced himself to the crew individually, shook everybody's hand, and said "let's make this happen".The teaser for one of the biggest sporting events in the world, filmed at Pinewood Studios in partnership with Fox Sports, was in the style of a Mission: Impossible year's Super Bowl LIX saw the Philadelphia Eagles win a 40-22 victory over defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs. Mr Barrett said: "Of course, when you're on the job, you're focused on the job, and it's not until you sort of see him leave afterwards that everyone just looks at each other and goes 'what literally just happened?'"Describing what it was like to work with the actor, he said Cruise was "particular" about his work, but said Cruise always asked why decisions were taken before suggesting another way, and went on to explore different options for microphones and lenses with the team, while they were filming. "The funniest line I've got from the whole thing was that on the set that we've designed, we've got this big plinth, where – it was in the middle of the set," Mr Barrett said."Originally, he was supposed to be sat on that plinth and the lights come up as the camera comes in and he turns and talks to camera."He was looking at that and he says 'I'm not quite sure about this plinth in the middle here. Why is it here?'"Mr Barrett said they explained it was to have some foreground in the shot, but Cruise replied: "I am the foreground."Since then, "I am the foreground" has become a catchphrase in the firm, he said. Carli Lloyd, Julie Ertz, Alexi Lalas headline Fox Sports' inaugural Women's Euros broadcast

Fox Sports is going all in for its first broadcast of the UEFA Women's European Championship, assembling a high-profile mix of big-time stars and fresh voices to cover the monthlong tournament that kicks off July 2 in Switzerland. The network is rolling out a mix of seasoned veterans and recent U.S. women's national team retirees to handle coverage both in-studio and in the field. Advertisement Studio coverage for the tournament will be anchored by two-time World Cup winner and National Soccer Hall of Famer Carli Lloyd, fellow USWNT legend Julie Ertz and Ariane Hingst, who won two World Cups with Germany. This will be Ertz's first time working with Fox. Before this assignment, she appeared as a guest analyst during TNT's studio coverage of the 2024 SheBelieves Cup semifinals. For Lloyd, it will be her third summer and fourth major international tournament with the network after she debuted as a studio analyst at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. 'I always enjoyed the tactical part of the game,' she told The Athletic. 'I honestly never planned what I would do or how I would feel after retirement, but this feels like such a natural transition. I love being able to watch incredible soccer and talk about the game with legends. 'They have such incredible knowledge of the game. I'm excited to come together with them to talk everything women's soccer. Every player sees the game slightly different, and it's fun for players from different teams and eras to come together, break down the game and share their unique perspectives and love for the game.' In addition to the World Cup winners, longtime Fox analyst and National Soccer Hall of Famer Alexi Lalas will join the broadcast team for the tournament, as will former USMNT midfielder Stu Holden. British broadcaster Jules Breach, who hosted Fox's UEFA Men's Euro 2024 coverage last summer, will join the team as the network's lead for the tournament. Fox's play-by-play booth includes British broadcaster Jacqui Oatley, who made history in 2022 as the first woman to call a men's World Cup match for a U.S. network, as well as seasoned soccer broadcasters John Strong and JP Dellacamera. Former players-turned-analysts Lori Lindsey (USWNT), Lianne Sanderson (England) and Jen Beattie (Scotland), who hung up her boots earlier this year after an 18-year playing career, will join them in the booth. Beattie will also contribute to the studio show. Lindsey and Oatley are reuniting at this tournament after calling matches at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023. Advertisement 'Looking back at the 2023 World Cup, the coverage was unprecedented,' Lindsey told The Athletic. 'Now this summer, the Euros will be even more accessible.' Fox Sports will broadcast all 31 matches of the tournament live, with 19 airing on the main Fox channel, 11 on FS1 and one on FS2. 'What stands out with this Fox crew is their shared love for the game. It's a mix of recently retired players and longtime broadcasters,' Lindsey said. 'Take Julie Ertz, for example. She's a U.S. legend just starting her TV career, but more importantly, she brings firsthand insight into what it's like to play in high-stakes tournaments. That kind of perspective, what pressure feels like on the field, what these moments mean to players, is what makes the coverage more real and helps push the game forward.' The Euros are the latest addition to Fox Sports' growing list of major soccer tournaments, which includes the FIFA men's World Cup in 2026, Copa América and the Concacaf Gold Cup. Fox holds the record for the most-watched soccer match in U.S. history, with 25.4 million viewers tuning in for the 2015 Women's World Cup final, according to the network. The Women's European Championship coverage will kick off with a doubleheader on Fox featuring Iceland vs. Finland at noon and host Switzerland vs. Norway at 3 p.m. ET on July 2, with Lindsey and Oatley leading the coverage. Hannah Hollis' shock career move: Popular Aussie TV presenter announces sudden departure from Fox Sports after 10 years

Hannah Hollis has revealed her shock new career move, announcing she is stepping away from her presenter role at Fox Sports. The Aussie TV presenter, who has been working for the sports broadcaster for 10 years, will continue fronting lifestyle show Luxury Escapes, which is currently being produced by Foxtel. The 36-year-old's final broadcast will be on Sunday as she covers the Suncorp Super Netball. This won't be Hannah's first time on Luxury Escapes. She has already featured on the second season of the popular travel show. The program, which first aired in 2016, gives viewers a glimpse into some of the best holiday experiences across the globe, as well as our very own backyard. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Hannah opened up to about the career move after having just returned from a luxury escape in the US. 'I've been to some of the most beautiful places around the world experiencing wild indulgence, adventure, food, art and culture all steeped in local tradition,' she said. 'It's a joy to share stories like this.' Despite the complete 180 from sport to travel, Hannah assured her fans she wasn't turning her back on her passion for the field, but instead hoped to blend the two in the future. 'My time with Fox Sports and Foxtel — and the opportunities I've enjoyed over the past decade — have further fuelled my ambition,' she said. She added that it felt like the perfect time to step out of her comfort zone and explore broader possibilities within the media landscape. It comes after a new shot was fired by Fox Sports in the broadcaster's increasingly bitter footy war with Channel Seven. This year, Fox is the only way footy fans across most of Australia can watch games on a Saturday for large parts of the season due to a change in the league's broadcasting agreement. It's a move that has infuriated footy fans and left a big dent in Seven's coverage, which has been bolstered by its huge investment in AFL panel shows with the likes of Kane Cornes and Caroline Wilson. This is also the first year viewers have had the option of watching every game on Fox, with the pay TV giant's commentators covering every match, with ratings jumping by a huge amount as a result. Seven star Brian Taylor has been taking pot shots at Fox by reminding fans that they don't always send their commentary crews to matches and instead have them cover the games from the studio, whereas he and his colleagues are always at the ground. Fox recently hit back by launching an ad showing a Taylor lookalike banging on the door of a pub when he couldn't get inside to watch footy on a Saturday. That has crossed a line with Seven, with a staffer at the broadcaster hitting the commercial with the 'disrespectful' tag, according to The Age.

Tom Brady Suggests Patrick Mahomes Can Catch Him As GOAT

Tom Brady Suggests Patrick Mahomes Can Catch Him As GOAT originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Most of us think there will never be another Tom Brady. But one person might disagree with that. And that one person is ... Advertisement Tom Brady. The resume is incredible and the resume is impeccable. Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion with three MVPs and a mountain of records, and, deflated footballs aside, a fairly pristine reputation to go with it as he's moved from the field and into the Fox Sports broadcast booth as the No. 1 voice. And that voice is talking about Patrick Mahomes. During a conversation with comedian Kevin Hart last weekend at Fanatics Fest, Brady was asked which quarterback from today's game might possibly duplicate his GOAT-level success. TB12 has one name. "I just think Patrick — I love his mentality," Brady said. "The great players that I've played with, Patrick has their mentality. He has the will to win. He's got a desire every time he takes the field to be a great leader. I listen to what guys say after they win, I listen to what guys say after they lose. Advertisement "Everything he says is the right thing." Mahomes has been to five Super Bowls and won three ... and notably, he's still just 29 years old. (He turns 30 in September.) So he's off to a good start in the chase. Brady added, "He's got a great coach, great general manager, great ownership and the parts around him." This is, as you can imagine, a mutual admiration society. Recall prior to Super Bowl LIX when Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs were getting ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles and the subject of Brady was broached. "I have so much respect for Tom, and he's been someone that's given me so much advice in my career,'' said Mahomes, who has also often referred to Brady as the greatest of all time. Advertisement "He is the greatest of all time, and I like being compared to him, but I still have so long that I have to go in my career if you look at the longevity, the consistent greatness that he had every single year," Mahomes said.
