Nick Cannon replaces Will Arnett as Lego Masters host as fans slam ‘terrible news'
Nick Cannon will step in as the new host of Lego Masters, taking over for Will Arnett, who has presided over the competition series since its 2020 debut. Arnett, 55, is currently hosting the fifth season of Fox's reality show, which sees two teams of LEGO enthusiasts compete in ambitious brick-building challenges. However, once the show returns for its sixth season, Cannon, 44, will serve as host. 'We're thrilled to bring Lego Masters back for another season,' said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, in a statement, per Variety. 'Alongside our incredible creative partners, this beloved series continues to captivate audiences. Originally launched with the wonderful Will Arnett, the show now enters an exciting next chapter with Nick Cannon at the helm, who brings a new fun energy to the competition.' 'I'm a huge fan of Lego Masters,' Cannon added. 'It's an honor to join the series and host another show with my Fox family. Season six we're bringing an action-packed hour full of family fun, passion and for the first time ever, in-person audition episodes. I can't wait to see the insane creations and give away a big bag of money to the best of the best.' The announcement has left viewers and Arnett fans disheartened. 'TERRIBLE NEWS. My family will be devastated. Will is one of the best parts,' one wrote on X. 'Dang. That's lame. The kids are gonna be less excited,' a second agreed. A third admitted that they had 'never watched an episode and still don't plan to.' Despite the mixed reviews for Cannon, he's no stranger to serving as a host. He's previously led Wild 'N Out, America's Got Talent, and The Masked Singer. He began his career warming up the audience for Nickelodeon's hit comedy show, All That. He's since gone on to star in films like Drumline, Love Don't Cost a Thing, and She Ball. Cannon, famously married to Mariah Carey from 2008-2016, has welcomed 12 children with six different women, including his ex-wife. The forthcoming season of Lego Masters will shoot audition episodes June 21 and 22 at Legoland California Resort in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego. Teams of two compete against each other with an unlimited supply of Legos to impress the judges and progress to the next round. The finale will see the top two teams go head-to-head for a $100,000 prize, the Lego trophy, and the Lego Masters title.

‘Alert' & ‘The Cleaning Lady' Canceled By Fox
Fox has determined the fate of two bubble shows, canceling dramas Alert: Missing Persons Unit after three seasons and The Cleaning Lady after four. The network had delayed final decisions on its remaining bubble series until after their current seasons had aired. Alert wrapped its Season 3 run on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady's fourth season ended on June 3. More from Deadline 2025 TV Cancellations: Photo Gallery 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming Ex-'Doctor Odyssey' Crew Members Sue Disney, 20th TV Claiming Sexual Harassment And Wrongful Termination The cancellations do not come as a surprise as Alert, The Cleaning Lady as well as the other two Fox scripted series not picked up for next season, Accused and The Great North, sit at the bottom of the network's 2024-25 season rankings. Animated comedy The Great North also is expected to be canceled once its current fifth season ends later this month. As for anthology Accused, developed and executive produced by Howard Gordon, it might come back in the future for a limited run as an event, Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, said last month. RELATED: 'We love the show and Howard Gordon,' he said. 'As you know, it's anthological, which means it doesn't have the same timetable on renewals as shows that have locked casts. And so right now, we're talking with Howard if there's an opportunity down the line to eventize a return, something that can really work for us and Howard, we'd love to do it. Right now. there's no plan, but there could be down the line.' All four series are Fox Entertainment co-productions with outside lead studios, Warner Bros. TV (The Cleaning Lady), Sony Pictures TV (Alert, Accused) and 20th Television Animation (The Great North). With Sony TV, Fox also has its breakout new medical drama series Doc, which is coming back in the fall for a 22-episode season; Warner Bros. TV is behind Fox's upcoming thriller drama Memory of a Killer. According to sources, Fox explored continuing Alert, possibly with some retooling, as the network brass liked Scott Caan as a leading man and the show's evolution into a buddy-cop show. Ultimately, the ratings were not there. RELATED: The Cleaning Lady, headlined by Élodie Yung, underwent creative retooling heading into this season after the series faced the tragic loss of its male lead Adan Canto to cancer. The drama never regained its footing but maintained a passionate core fan base that is left with loose ends and unresolved issues in the Season 4 finale. Alert: Missing Persons Unit is set in the Philadelphia Police Department's Missing Persons Unit. Each episode featured a search for a missing person headed by detectives Jason Grant (Caan) and Nikki Batista (Dania Ramirez). Together with the MPU team, their job is to find the missing or abducted and reunite them with their loved ones. Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard and Alisha-Marie Ahamed also starred. Carla Kettner served as showrunner and executive producer, with Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, John Eisendrath, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner and Brad Turner also executive producing. RELATED: The Cleaning Lady, the first Southeast Asian-led broadcast drama, centers on Thony De La Rosa (Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who makes a living as a cleaning service worker alongside her sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Millan). After witnessing a murder, Thony is offered a job both as a cleaner and a doctor within a criminal organization that could pay well enough to help her son and her family. Kate Del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and Khalen Roman Sanchez also starred in the series, based on an Argentine format, which was developed for American television by Miranda Kwok. ‘Accused' Season 3 Still in Limbo, Fox Says It's Open to More Episodes
Just because Fox doesn't have a plan to renew Howard Gordon's 'Accused' at the moment, that doesn't mean that won't change in the future. The network addressed the renewal hopes of 'Accused' as well as other on-the-bubble shows 'The Cleaning Lady,' 'Alert: Missing Persons Unit' and 'The Great North' during a conference call with press ahead of its 2025 advertiser upfront presentation. 'As you know, ['Accused'] is anthological, which means it doesn't have the same timetable for renewals as shows that have locked cast. So right now, we're talking with Howard,' Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network for Fox Entertainment, said. 'If there's an opportunity down the line to event-ize a return that can really work for us and Howard, we'd love to do it. Right now, there's no plan, but there could be down the line.' The anthology drama first premiered in 2023 and aired its second season on 2024. Each episode of 'Accused' follows a completely different court case with an entirely different cast as it explores one of the most stressful moments in the lives of ordinary people. Thorn also provided an update on 'The Cleaning Lady,' which is currently airing its fourth season, as well as 'Alert: Missing Persons Unit' and 'The Great North.' The police procedural from John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx is currently airing its third season, and the animated comedy from Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux and Minty Lewis is airing its fifth season. 'We love the teams and those shows, and I think there'll be more to come after they finish their current seasons. As you know, we order series all year round. The upfront for us is one cycle of ordering, and there will definitely be more [ordering] sometime, probably later this summer,' Thorn said. Josh Charles to Star in Fox Medical Comedy Based on British Hit ‘Doc Martin'
Josh Charles will star in Fox's latest medical series 'Best Medicine,' an adaptation of the British hit series 'Doc Martin.' The medical comedy, which will premiere during the 2025-26 TV season, follows the success of the network's medical drama 'Doc' — which was also adapted from a hit Italian series. 'The story of Doc Martin has resonated worldwide with its humanity, originality, and humor, and with 'Best Medicine' coming to Fox, that eccentricity gets a smalltown America spin, complete with idyllic charm and absurdity,' President of Fox Television Network Michael Thorn said. 'Best Medicine' will center around Martin Best (Charles), a talented surgeon who abruptly leaves his career behind in Boston and moves to a quaint East Coast fishing village to become a general practitioner. Martin's blunt, big-city bedside manner does not quite mesh with the locals in the small town. In his attempts to distance himself from the residents of the town, he somehow becomes intertwined in the 'feuds and fantasies' of the villagers. 'The Office' producer Ben Silverman, 'Stick''s Rodney Ferrell and Liz Tuccillo of 'Sex and the City' will all executive produce the series for Fox Entertainment. Mark Crowdy and Philippa Braithwaite from 'Doc Martin' will also executive produce the comedy series and support its adaptation. The British medical comedy was originally produced by Buffalo Pictures in association with Homerun Film Productions, and will be brought to American audiences by Propagate Content. 'The entire Propagate team is thrilled to be working with Fox Entertainment on this extraordinary adaptation by Liz Tuccillo of the global hit 'Doc Martin,'' Silverman said. 'Josh Charles is the perfect lead for this brilliantly character-driven comedic procedural. 'Best Medicine' is a world we'll all want to be part of.' Charles is best known for his performances as Will Garner in 'The Good Wife,' which earned him two Emmy Award nominations. The actor has also appeared in 'The Handmaid's Tale,' 'The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' and 'Dead Poets Society.' The one-hour comedy series is set to premiere on Fox in the 2025-2026 season.
