Who Will Buy TikTok? President Trump to Name Buyer in July

Trump appears to have found his preferred TikTok buyer (or buyers) and says he'll reveal who the "wealthy people" are in a couple of weeks. In an interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo that aired on Sunday, President Donald Trump said a TikTok deal would occur soon. Last year, Congress passed a law requiring TikTok to separate from its parent company, Beijing-based ByteDance, or face a permanent ban in the U.S. After multiple extensions, the deadline is now mid-September. Related: Billionaire Investor Frank McCourt Jr. Wants to Do More Than Buy TikTok — He Wants to Transform the Entire Internet Trump said that in about two weeks, he'll reveal the names of the "very wealthy people" who were ready to buy the popular app, and that he thinks China's leader, Xi Jinping, who will need to approve the deal, "will probably do it." It's unclear who the "wealthy people" are, considering every bid has been made by some pretty heavy hitters. The potential to own TikTok has attracted a spate of interested buyers, including a group made up of billionaire Frank McCourt, "Shark Tank" star Kevin O'Leary, and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. There are also bids from Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, who reportedly has been meeting at the White House recently, AI startup Perplexity, mobile advertising company AppLovin, and Amazon. "As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement earlier this month.

ICE agents denied entry to Dodger Stadium parking lot hours before game against Padres

Images that circulated on social media Thursday morning appeared to show about a dozen U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement vans attempt to enter the Dodger Stadium parking lot the same day the Dodgers were reportedly expected to announce plans to assist immigrant communities impacted by the recent turmoil in Los Angeles. ICE agents were ultimately denied access, the team announced. 'This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots,' the Dodgers wrote in a statement on X. 'They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight's game will be played as scheduled.' While the Dodgers own a controlling interest in the stadium parking lot, former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt still owns a portion of the lot. It is unclear the circumstances that led ICE to try to use Parking Lot 'E' as a staging area Thursday. The Dodgers remained silent on the federal raids and riots that terrorized a number of Los Angeles communities, until it was reported Wednesday night their intention to announce an assistance program for those affected. Dodgers utility player Kiké Hernández, who grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, first spoke up about the situation Saturday via an Instagram post, which included both an English and Spanish translation: 'I may not be Born & Raised, but this city adopted me as one of their own. I am saddened and infuriated by what's happening in our country and our city. Los Angeles and Dodger fans have welcomed me, supported me and shown me nothing but kindness and love. This is my second home. And I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart. ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights. #CityOfImmigrants' The Dodgers are scheduled to host the San Diego Padres at 7:10 p.m. This is a breaking story. Check back for updates.

ICE agents denied access to Dodgers parking lot as team is expected to announce immigrant aid

Federal agents were turned away from Los Angeles Dodgers stadium grounds Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Dodgers released a statement Thursday confirming the situation, and saying that Thursday's game against the San Diego Padres will go on as scheduled. Images circulated of Department of Homeland Security vehicles around the stadium Thursday morning. It was unclear what — if any — operation masked agents were carrying out in the area. Agents did not reveal why they were near the stadium when asked by the Los Angeles Times. Advertisement Sources told the Los Angeles Times that the agents attempted to enter the team parking lot, but were denied entry by the team. The parking lot is not technically owned by the team, but is considered team property. Former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt still owns the team parking lot. He sold the franchise to Guggenheim Baseball Management in 2012. Protestors gathered near Dodger Stadium after seeing images of Department of Homeland Security vehicles near the park. Los Angeles police were reportedly called in by the team to tell protestors to leave. A video that circulated on Bluesky featured a Los Angeles police officer who told protestors, "[DHS officers] can't be here. They are leaving too. [The Dodgers] are kicking [DHS agents] out, they are kicking you out." The incident comes less than 24 hours after a Dodgers spokesperson said team would announce plans to assist local immigrant communities in Los Angeles. The team is expected to make that announcement Thursday. The team has faced pressure from fans to issue a statement after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have engaged in raids around the city. Numerous protests have been held in Los Angeles in opposition of ICE's presence in the city. Advertisement While the Dodgers resisted making any statement initially, the team found itself in an awkward spot after video emerged of a team employee telling national-anthem performer Nezza that the team wanted her to perform the anthem in English. Nezza sang the song in Spanish in protest of the ICE raids in the city. At least two members of the Dodgers have issued statements about the raids. Utility man Enrique Hernandez and broadcaster — and former player Adrián González — both spoke out against ICE's presence in Los Angeles, with González calling the raids "illegal" and "unconstitutional."

Federal agents denied entry to Dodger Stadium

Department of Homeland Security vehicles with masked agents were stationed Thursday morning outside Dodger Stadium, in another sign of the raids sweeping Southern California. It is unclear what operation the federal agents were carrying out or whether anyone in that area was arrested. Images of the vehicles immediately played out on social media and fueled speculation about their activities. The agents declined to say why they were at the stadium when asked by a Times reporter. The vehicles appeared to be staging near the downtown parking lot entrance to the stadium, which was empty Thursday morning except for a small contingent of local media. According to multiple people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly, agents were denied entry to the Dodger Stadium grounds when they attempted to enter the parking lots. The parking lot is not owned by the Dodgers, but is considered Dodgers property by the team. It is owned by the team's former owner, billionaire Frank McCourt. The team did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Dodgers have been under pressure since the raids began earlier this month to make a statement in support of immigrants. On Wednesday, the team said it intended to announce plans Thursday to assist the immigrant communities recently impacted in Los Angeles. Singer and social media personality Nezza sang a Spanish version of the national anthem at Dodger Stadium, in an act of protest against the immigration raids, despite being asked by a team employee to sing in English.

There will be another 90 days to try and make a deal. Despite Kevin O'Leary's predictions that there wouldn't be a third extension, the White House has announced it will extend the deadline for TikTok's parent company, Beijing-based ByteDance, to sell or face a ban.
