Nicola Peltz Beckham to star in dramatic new thriller with star-studded cast

Nicola Peltz Beckham, Jazzy De Lisser and Mary Stuart Masterson have began filming a dramatic thriller penned and directed by multiple DGA Award nominee Erica Dunton. Nicola Peltz Beckham is part of a new star-studded cast for a dramatic thriller. Pretty Ugly is penned and helmed by Erica Dunton, a contender for multiple DGA Awards and known for her work on Ted Lasso. ‌ The 30-year-old will star alongside Jazzy De Lisser (Too Much), and Mary Stuart Masterson (Fried Green Tomatoes). Pretty Ugly delves into the life of Raelynn (De Lisser), a young woman entranced by the allure of social media beauty, alongside her mum who shares an obsession with true crime podcasts. ‌ Their bond starts to fray when a challenging makeup influencer (Nicola Peltz) makes her way back to Winnabow from LA, leading to a confrontation with a murder and a deeper understanding of the American Dream for all three women. ‌ The film has been described by Erica as "a movie for this moment, a character-driven murder mystery that highlights the depths to which the internet is changing the face of every town in America." The cast is completed by Michelle Gomez, Andy Buckley, Cullen Moss, Paul Schneider, Edgar de Santiago, and Angela Wong Carbone, reports Deadline. The production team includes Will McCance and Dunton as producers, with Beckham taking on an executive producer role for Bunny Films, joined by De Lisser, and Matthew Petersen and Gill Holland serving as co-producers. Recently making her directorial debut with Lola, Nicola-Peltz Beckham has featured in projects such as Welcome to Chippendales, Holidate, Bates Motel, and Transformers: Age of Extinction. She is represented by Gersh, Will McCance, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman. Meanwhile, Dunton has directed episodes of numerous notable contemporary series, including Ted Lasso, The Waterfront, We Were Liars, Outer Banks, and The Summer I Turned Pretty. She received two DGA Award nominations for her work on Ted Lasso, as well as Sundance's Best of Next! Audience Award for her 2011 feature which starred De Lisser. Elsewhere, the Beckham feud among the family appears to be grumbling on. There's been ongoing tensions among the star-studded family with Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz notably absent from Sir David's 50th birthday bash earlier this year. ‌ It was this which was said to have sparked a very public rift within the clan. The concerns have risen to the surface after several pointed comments from Nicola about family dynamics during her own dads birthday celebrations. Displaying her Pop Mart dolls arranged in formation to followers, she penned: "our little family", alongside a second telling image captioned: "My mom just gets it." She subsequently shared a photograph embracing her father, adding: "I love you so much dad." ‌ Speculation over tensions between the Beckhams and Nicola have been swirling since Brooklyn and Nicola's lavish Florida wedding in 2022. Despite the million-dollar event appearing as the pinnacle of romance, glamour, and family unity in polished photos, the reality behind the scenes was reportedly quite different. Nicola was said to be left seething by mother-in-law Victoria's behaviour during her wedding day, where it's claimed she attempted to upstage the bride. Reports suggest that Victoria Beckham caused a stir by selecting the same song that Nicola had chosen for her first dance with Brooklyn to use for her own mother-son dance. Meanwhile, Nicola shunned the opportunity to wear a dress from Victoria's fashion label on her big day. Detailing the events, Nicola said: "Well, I was planning on wearing Victoria's wedding dress," and "I was truly so excited to be able to wear a design that my future mother-in-law created. We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn't hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn't make it."
