Ten Colorado Buffaloes named to East-West Shrine Bowl watch list
Despite the losses of Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter to the NFL, the Colorado Buffaloes still have players with serious NFL potential. With that in mind, the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl announced its preseason watch list Monday morning, and ten Buffs were among the top 1,000 candidates. The East-West Shrine Bowl is an annual college football all-star game that provides draft-eligible players with a final opportunity to compete in front of NFL scouts. The 2026 Shrine Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Colorado had six players compete in the 2025 Shrine Bowl, including Shedeur and Shilo Sanders. Below are the ten Buffaloes who were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000: QB Kaidon Salter Kaidon Salter is amid a quarterback competition against star freshman Julian Lewis, but after winning Conference USA MVP in 2023, the transfer quarterback looks to go out on a high note. LB Martavius French French comes to Boulder hoping to grab hold of the Buffs' starting middle linebacker role. RB Dallan Hayden Hayden showed flashes last year, and after Colorado lost their leading rusher to the transfer portal, he has a chance to be the Buffaloes' starting running back. OL Xavier Hill Hill joins the Buffs after a successful stint at Memphis, where his versatility was on full display. He can play every position on the offensive line and should start most games this year. CB Preston Hodge Hodge returns as Colorado's top option at the nickel position. LB Reginald Hughes Hughes and French are the projected top two inside linebackers on the Buffs roster. Their ability to form chemistry will be a major storyline during fall camp. CB DJ McKinney McKinney is set to take over for Travis Hunter as Colorado's top coverage cornerback. He could be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft. DL Amari McNeill McNeill steps into a starting defensive tackle role, and his production will be needed for the Buffs to repeat as the Big 12 sack leaders. DL Jehiem Oatis After transferring from Alabama as the top defensive player in the portal (as of Dec. 18, 2024), Oatis has expectations to make an immediate impact. OL Zy Crisler Crisler is coming off a successful career with Illinois and seems to slot in as the Buffaloes' right guard for 2025. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. Chris Stapleton Hits No. 1 With One Of Country Music's Most Successful Women
Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert's first duet, 'A Song to Sing,' debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's ... More Country Digital Song Sales chart with nearly 2,300 downloads. FRISCO, TEXAS - MAY 16: Chris Stapleton performs onstage at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards at The Star in Frisco on May 16, 2024 in Frisco, Texas. (Photo byfor ACM) Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert are two of the biggest names in the country music world. Both have charted bestselling albums, scored numerous hit singles, and won Grammys, earning critical acclaim with seemingly everything they release. As collaborations grow increasingly important in the music industry, it was only a matter of time before these two singer-songwriters teamed up. Their first joint single, "A Song to Sing," has become a quick-selling hit in the United States, as their fan bases rushed to snag a copy of the tune once it dropped. "A Song to Sing" Debuts at No. 1 "A Song to Sing" debuts on several Billboard charts this frame, thanks largely to a very healthy number of pure purchases. Luminate reports that in its first tracking period, the collaboration sold just under 2,300 copies. That sum is enough to send it straight to No. 1 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart, where it opens in the top spot. Fourth No. 1 for Miranda Lambert, Fifth for Chris Stapleton Lambert earns her fourth No. 1 on the Country Digital Song Sales ranking as "A Song to Sing" arrives, while Stapleton collects his fifth. It's been more than four years since Lambert last ruled, with "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)," her collaboration with Elle King, which reached the summit in March 2021. Stapleton last topped the Country Digital Song Sales list in November 2023 with "White Horse." Miranda Lambert Claims More Top 10 Smashes While Stapleton may claim more No. 1s than Lambert, she's winning when it comes to total top 10s and charting hits overall. Stapleton has racked up 17 top 10s and 34 total appearances on the list, while Lambert has reached the highest tier 22 times, with 43 different cuts appearing on the tally throughout her lengthy career. 'A Song to Sing' Debuts Across Several Charts "A Song to Sing" sold well enough to appear not just on the country-specific digital ranking, but also the all-genre list that's compiled in the same manner. On that roster, the two country powerhouses debut at No. 10, adding to their growing list of general successes. The collaboration also enters the Country Airplay tally at No. 20 and the consumption-based Hot Country Songs list at No. 30. For now, "A Song to Sing" hasn't been assigned to an upcoming album from either Stapleton or Lambert. It could eventually end up on one of their projects — or even both — but for the moment, it stands alone as a bestselling standalone tune.

Cowboys Legend Mourns Passing of 'Friend' Hulk Hogan
Cowboys Legend Mourns Passing of 'Friend' Hulk Hogan originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO — Many were saddened by the sudden death of wrestling and pop culture icon Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea on Thursday. Popular musicians, movie stars, athletes and influencers took to social media almost immediately following the news to discuss memories and sadness of Bollea's passing. Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback, broadcaster and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman was no exception. "From a fan to a friend—working with Hulk Hogan for a few years was a thrill and a privilege. He was every bit the showman and entertainer we all grew up watching. Rest in peace, Hulk," Aikman posted on his X account. Hogan helped make wrestling one of the most popular sports of the 1980s and was a significant piece of turning it into a national pastime. Before Hogan's popularity, wrestling in the United States was largely regionalized. But WWF and Hogan changed all that. Hogan headlined eight of the first nine WrestleManias and helped turn WCW into a global brand in the 1990s. "Wrestling as we know it was built on Hulk Hogan. Sure, there were other superstars before him, but Hogan was the first, by my estimation, to be over, worldwide," said wrestling insider Colby Sapp of The Colby Sapp & IndyCarTim Show. "He might have had his troubles, but it doesn't change how many of us ate our vitamins and said our prayers because of him. "They call John Cena the G.O.A.T. right now. I think the greatest of all time is the one who just passed away. Was he a great human? There are stories out there. ... Was he possibly the greatest to ever slap on the gear? Yup!" During the height of his popularity in the 90s, Hogan collaborated with several top athletes — including Aikman — in commercials and other entertainment ventures. Aikman and Hogan headlined several Rent-A-Center commercials, and the two quickly became friends. Aikman was the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 and formed one-third of the 1990s "triplets" in Dallas alongside wideout Michael Irvin and running back Emmitt Smith. Those Cowboys were the first team to win three Super Bowls in four seasons and were one of the top franchises of the decade. Aikman retired after the 2000 season, ending his career early due to concussions and injuries. Hogan went on to wrestle in the WWE after returning in 2002 and made appearances for the company over the past 20 years.
