Iowa football 2026 target chooses different powerhouse destination
HOME !!! ☘️☘️ After winning a recruiting battles for Ronnie Hill and Kasen Thomas, Iowa football was on the losing end of the recruitment for a talented three-star tight end. It was on June 19 that Preston Fryzel announced his final three schools: Iowa, Notre Dame and Miami (Fla.). Fryzel announced on Monday that he would be taking his talents to South Bend, Indiana, to join the Notre Dame football program, choosing the Fighting Irish over the Hawkeyes and Hurricanes. Missing out on Fryzel is a setback for the Iowa football 2026 recruiting class as they're still without a tight end commit in the class. Iowa has offers out to a pair of other tight ends in the 2026 class, four-star JC Anderson and three-star Tyler Ruxer. Anderson has offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Illinois and Arkansas, while Ruxer has offers from West Virginia, Oklahoma and Duke among other schools. Iowa still has plenty of time to add more prospects and offers to that list and fans should have no doubt that Kirk Ferentz will bring in a tight end recruit in the 2026 class. Notre Dame continued its recruiting hot streak, as 2026 Ohio TE Preston Fryzel commits
It's safe to say that Notre Dame football is on a big time hot streak in recruiting, after adding three new 2026 prospects to its class last week, the momentum carried over to Monday. Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel is the most recent verbal, as he chose the Irish over Iowa and Miami. Notre Dame is adding a 6-foot, 4-inch and 220-pound target who is ranked as the nation's No. 712 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. This was a very quick recruitment, as the Irish just offered Fryzel in May, then hosted him on an official visit two weekends ago. It was clearly all he needed to see, as the talented tight end pulled the trigger and joined Notre Dame class. The 2026 cycle now has twenty total commits, as is ranked as the No. 3 overall class in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. There is no doubt in my mind that more than a few other top prospects will join the class, which should finish near the top of the rankings following signing day.

Iowa football among final three schools for 2026 TE
Iowa football may be close to adding a talented tight end to its 2026 recruiting class. Three-star tight end Preston Fryzel revealed on Wednesday that Iowa is among his final three schools alongside Notre Dame and Miami and that he will announce his collegiate commitment on June 23. Fryzel is from Toledo, Ohio, and plays high school ball at Central Catholic. The Hawkeyes were the first of his final three schools to offer, as they did so on April 19, 2025. Fryzel visited Miami to begin the month of June, visited Notre Dame on June 13 and has a visit scheduled with the Hawkeyes on June 20 before his decision date on June 23. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end posted great numbers in 2024, notching 43 receptions for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fryzel helped lead Central Catholic to a 14-2 record and an appearance in the state championship game. Need a break? On3 ranks Fryzel as the No. 17 tight end and as the No. 19 player from Ohio. Iowa is hoping that their visit with Fryzel will be enough to get the talented tight end to commit. If he does, Fryzel would be the 10th commit in the 2026 class. Ohio 2026 tight end Preston Fryzel set to make official visit to Notre Dame Notre Dame is set to host multiple tight ends on official visits in the coming weeks as it looks to bolster its 2026 recruiting class. Central Catholic (Toledo, OH) product Preston Fryzel will be visiting campus this Friday through Sunday. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder will be in South Bend for the second time since receiving a scholarship offer from the Fighting Irish May 21. Fryzel previously visited Notre Dame unofficially last Tuesday. In addition to ND, Fryzel also visited Miami unofficially earlier this month and officially visited Duke last weekend. He is also set to officially visit Iowa June 20 before making a decision on a school. Fryzel was a key piece in Central Catholic's march to the state title game last season. He earned all-state honorable mention from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association after hauling in 43 catches for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games.
