Olivia Rodrigo calls out 'horrific' conditions facing Palestinians in Gaza
LOS ANGELES, July 16: Pop star Olivia Rodrigo is raising her voice in support of those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In a powerful message shared on her Instagram Story over the weekend, Rodrigo condemned the "horrific and completely unacceptable" conditions faced by families in Palestine. For nearly two years, Gaza has been grappling with widespread hunger, homelessness, and a lack of access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid. These dire conditions worsened after Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 Israelis and taking 251 hostages. Israel subsequently launched a military campaign against Hamas, leading to the deaths of over 58,000 people, according to Reuters. Rodrigo expressed deep sorrow over the situation, saying, 'There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel witnessing the devastation that is being inflicted upon innocent people in Palestine.' She continued, 'Mothers, fathers, and children in Gaza are starving, dehydrated, and being denied access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid.' The Grammy-winning artist emphasized the shared human suffering across the globe, stating, 'There is no child in Israel, Palestine, or anywhere in the world who deserves to suffer through what we're seeing these children have to endure. It is horrific and completely unacceptable. To give up on them is to give up on our shared humanity.' Rodrigo went on to announce that she had made a donation to UNICEF, encouraging her followers to do the same if they were able to contribute. "I've donated to UNICEF to help support the victims of this horrifying situation," she wrote. "I encourage you to do the same if you have the means." Rodrigo joins a growing number of celebrities speaking out about the violence in Gaza. Recently, Lana Del Rey shared that she prays for Palestine 'every day,' while Billie Eilish publicly disavowed Israel's plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians to a 'humanitarian city' built on the ruins of Rafah, calling the proposal 'horrifying.' Known for her outspoken activism, Rodrigo has consistently used her platform to address issues that matter to her. From endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election to protesting attacks on reproductive freedom at her shows, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star is unafraid to speak her mind. Last year, Rodrigo launched her Fund 4 Good, a project aimed at raising money for abortion funds globally. This initiative earned her the Catalyst for Change award from Planned Parenthood at their spring gala in April 2025. During her speech at the event, Rodrigo shared her perspective on the politicization of women's bodies: 'We live in a world that politicizes our bodies and uses harmful ideologies to deny us safety and healthcare. My greatest wish is that through organizations like Planned Parenthood and the action of everyday citizens, no woman will need to sacrifice her dreams, her health, or her humanity because of restrictive laws or lack of resources.'

Olivia Rodrigo calls Israel-Gaza conflict 'horrific and completely unacceptable' in pro-Palestine message
took to her Instagram Stories to share a message of support for the people of Palestine this weekend. She urged her followers to donate to UNICEF as she did, to help the people, many of which are children, affected by the war between Israel and HAMAS. 'There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel witnessing the devastation that is being inflicted upon innocent people in Palestine,' Rodrigo, 22, wrote. 'Mothers, fathers, and children in Gaza are starving, dehydrated, and being denied access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid.' The Drivers License singer continued, 'There is no child in Israel, Palestine, or anywhere in the world who deserves to suffer through what we're seeing these children have to endure.' 'It is horrific and completely unacceptable. To give up on them is to give up on our shared humanity.' This isn't the first time Olivia has made a political statement. Since the beginning of her career, she'd been outspoken about women's reproductive rights. 'I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don't give a s**t about freedom,' Rodrigo said to the Glastonbury crowd recently. 'The song goes out to the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you.' And the Vampire singer puts her money where her mouth is when it comes to injustice in our world. In 2023, she founded a nonprofit, Fund 4 Good, which is dedicated to women's issues. 'Its initiative is to raise awareness for certain groups that are championing women's issues in America and all of the other territories I'm going to,' Rodrigo told People in 2023. 'I'm very excited, and I think it's going to be a very fulfilling and hopefully productive experience. 'Lots of the money is going to abortion funds to help provide some resources to people who are in need of reproductive health care.' Last month, Olivia put on an energetic set to close out the 2025 Glastonbury Festival. During her energetic set, Olivia paused to express her love for a variety of British foods as she gushed over Marks and Spencer sweets. She said: 'One thing you should know about me is f***ing love England, I love England so much. It's bands like the Cure that first got me acquainted with England but now that I'm older I have so many things I love about England. The good 4 u hitmaker, who is dating British actor Louis Partridge, also 22, revealed her greatest loves for the country and gushed that she 'really loves English boys'. She continued: 'I love pop culture, I love that nobody judges you for having a pint at noon it's the best. I love English sweets from M&S and Collin the Caterpillar. 'True story I have had three sticky toffee pudding since arriving at Glastonbury so safe to say I love English food. 'As luck would have it, I also really love English boys, I wrote this next song about getting to know a boy from England who loves beans on a jacket potato, I took all our little jokes and made a song called, So America.'

Olivia Rodrigo Delivers Powerful Speech on Reproductive Rights
At Planned Parenthood's Spring Into Action Gala in New York City last night, Olivia Rodrigo was honored as one of the nonprofit's two Champion of Change award recipients. Clad in a white Gucci gown, the singer took the stage to stress how important the fight for reproductive rights remains, particularly during President Donald Trump's second term, where his administration has withheld millions in federal funding to the Title X family planning programs, including those at Planned Parenthood clinics. 'We live in a world that politicizes our bodies and uses harmful ideologies to deny us safety and healthcare, and it breaks my heart to think that, because of oppressive laws and outdated policies, some of those girls may not get to follow their dreams the way I was able to follow mine,' Rodrigo said. She spoke about the work she has done to support reproductive freedom, saying, 'Just a year ago, fueled by heartbreak and anger over what was happening in the world, I launched my Fund 4 Good, a global initiative that supports local nonprofits, championing reproductive freedom, girls' education and the prevention of gender-based violence. A portion of my [Guts] Tour proceeds went to the fund, and I'm proud to share that we've raised and donated over $2 million to organizations around the world.' She then applauded Planned Parenthood's work, saying, 'I can't express how much I admire Planned Parenthood and the life-saving work that they do. Providing affordable healthcare, cancer screenings, birth control, STD testing, and abortion care, amongst so many other things, gives women the autonomy to care for themselves and shape their futures. It's a privilege to be here tonight to support an organization that, despite countless obstacles, continues to show up with compassion, hope, and dignity for women. My greatest wish is that through organizations like Planned Parenthood and the action of everyday citizens, no woman will need to sacrifice her dreams, her health or humanity because of restrictive laws or lack of resources.' She ended her speech by honoring Planned Parenthood's late former president, Cecile Richards—and encouraging the world to channel Richards's strength and not back down from this fight. 'She led at a time of relentless attacks on care and constant efforts to silence and shame women into submission, but Cecile stood her ground, and in doing so, she stood up for millions of us,' Rodrigo said. 'I never got the chance to meet her, but her legacy of resilience and decency continues to impact me. She reminds us that standing up for what's right doesn't mean we have to be fearless. We can be scared, we can be angry, we can feel hopeless. We just have to fight anyway. Thank you again, so much.'
