'If he can't work, who will feed the children?': Five critical after suspected poisoning in Hyderabad; patients on ventilator, dialysis at NIMS
HYDERABAD: At least five persons are in critical condition at Nims.
Among the most serious cases is G Monappa (65), a daily wager, who is on ventilator support. Four are on dialysis.
Another patient, G Devdas, is being given medications to support cardiac function.
Nims doctors confirmed that some of the patients are unresponsive to treatment, and are even showing withdrawal-like symptoms and are in a state of delirium. "Many were disoriented upon arrival. Those in the advanced critical care unit were initially unresponsive, and their condition later improved. Others in the medical ICU are more stable and are on a liquid diet," said a doctor.

Speaking to TOI, Indira, wife of J Yobu (53), a lorry driver, feared long-term health damage. "He hasn't been passing urine properly. We spent Rs 50,000 at a pvt hospital, but there's no improvement. If he can't work, who will feed the children?" said the mother of three, from Yellamma Banda.
