Trim Levels and Performance
The Terrain lineup begins with the Elevation trim, which replaces the former SLE and SLT models and is available with front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. A Black Edition variant exclusive to the Elevation trim adds visual impact with a black GMC emblem, gloss black 19-inch wheels, black fog lamp surrounds, taillight bezels, and roof rails, as well as a unique grille and lower panel.
For off-road enthusiasts, the AT4 trim offers all-wheel drive, enhanced ground clearance, an upgraded suspension, Terrain Mode, and rugged all-terrain tires. According to GMC, this new-generation AT4 is the most capable off-road Terrain yet.
At the top of the range, the Denali trim blends performance with premium comfort, featuring advanced technologies, a distinctive design, and refined materials. All variants are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine producing 175 horsepower. All-wheel-drive models deliver 275 Nm of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission, while front-wheel-drive versions manage 250 Nm via a CVT.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Inside, the 2026 GMC Terrain emphasizes sophistication and convenience, offering optional wood accents, premium fabrics, and perforated leather finishes. A standout feature is the new 15-inch central infotainment display—more than twice the size of its predecessor—paired with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster.
Google built-in compatibility comes standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 5G Wi-Fi, and a complimentary three-year OnStar subscription. For enhanced driving assistance, four-wheel-drive models feature a 360-degree HD surround camera and digital rearview mirror. Additional features on the AT4 and Denali trims include AutoSense for hands-free tailgate access, a new driver mode for learners, remote start, heated front seats, a heated leather steering wheel, and a panoramic roof as standard.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The 2026 GMC Terrain incorporates 15 standard safety features, including Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Collision Prevention, Forward Pedestrian Braking, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Steering Assist, and Automatic Reverse Braking—designed to enhance driver confidence and passenger protection.
Updated Exterior and Color Options
The Terrain's exterior has been refreshed with a new grille, front fascia, and bumpers. Buyers can personalize their SUV with a wide array of colors, including classics like Summit White and Dusk Black Metallic, as well as bold new hues like Speed Blue Metallic, Glacier White Tricoat, and Roaring Metallic. A two-tone roof option is also available for a sportier look.
Wheel options range from 17 inches on the AT4 and Elevation trims to larger 19- and 20-inch designs on the Denali. The Elevation's Black Edition stands out with distinctive black 19-inch wheels. Both the AT4 and Denali include LED headlights and taillights with dynamic lighting effects that activate as the driver approaches or leaves the vehicle.
