Trump touts six-month mark: US is now ‘hottest‘ and ‘most respected country anywhere‘

President Trump marked his six-month anniversary of his second term in office by touting that the United States is the 'hottest' and 'most respected country anywhere in the world.' 'Wow, time flies!' the president began his message on Truth Social on Sunday morning. 'Today is that Sixth Month Anniversary of my Second Term. Importantly, it's being hailed as one of the most consequential periods of any President.' He added that six months was 'not a long time to have totally revived a major Country,' and that one year ago, 'our Country was DEAD, with almost no hope of revival.' 'Today the USA is the 'hottest' and most respected Country anywhere in the World,' he added. 'Happy Anniversary!!!' His comments come as Trump's six-month approval rating remains underwater with Decision Desk HQ finding 52.7 percent of U.S. adults disapprove of the president, while 44.6 percent approve. The latest Economist/YouGov poll also found that Trump's disapproval rating is at its highest level since the start of his second term. Still, Trump insisted his numbers within the GOP 'have gone up, significantly, since the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax was exposed by the Radical Left Democrats and, just plain 'troublemakers.'' 'They have hit 90%, 92%, 93%, and 95%, in various polls, and are all Republican Party records,' he wrote in another Truth Social post. 'The General Election numbers are my highest, EVER! People like Strong Borders, and all of the many other things I have done. GOD BLESS AMERICA. MAGA!' His comments come after he instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday to release the grand jury files in the case of sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein after nationwide pressure to produce more information. However, the president remains skeptical that the release of the files will quell the demand for more information on the case.

Madras High Court restrains recitation of Nama Sankeerthanam in residential locality without Collector's permission

Observing that what could be divine music to the ears of some might actually turn out to be a nuisance for others, the Madras High Court on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) restrained the use of a residential house for the recitation of Nama Sankeerthanam (congregational chanting of the names of Hindu Gods) unless the Collector grants permission for using the premises as a prayer hall. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh said, the law should apply equally to all, and that no religious group could use such premises for congregational prayers without the Collector's nod. 'Peace is the best prayer and silence is the greatest prayer. The day people realise this truth, they will not disturb others by indulging in loud and noisy ways of praying to God,' the judge said. The observations were made during the hearing of a writ petition filed by Prakash Ramachandran of Krishnamachari Street at Radha Nagar in Chromepet, Chengalpattu district. The petitioner had complained that a private organisation named Global Organisation for Divinity (GOD) had opened its office on the residential premises belonging to his neighbour T.S. Subramanian. The petitioner had complained of Nama Sankeerthanam being recited on the premises, causing disturbance to other residents of the locality. However, the private respondents filed a counter affidavit claiming they had the consent of all the other neighbours for the recitation and that their religious rights had been safeguarded under Article 25 (freedom of religion) of the Constitution. The private respondents also contended that uttering the names of Gods would only help in bringing peace of mind and serve as a remedy for all troubles and sorrows. However, the judge said, any prayer should remain confined within the four walls of a house and not end up causing disturbance to others. He also said, it was not necessary for all the residents in a locality to come to the court complaining about disturbance. Referring to an order passed by him restraining the use of residential houses for Christian congregational prayers in Kanniyakumari district without obtaining the Collector's nod, the judge told the respondents' counsel: 'The same will apply here too. Except the change in the name of God, all other things are the same. How can you have Nama Sankeerthanam without Collector's nod?' When the counsel stated her clients had already made a representation to the Chengalpattu Collector seeking permission, the judge ordered the recitation must not take place in the residential locality until the Collector grants permission and directed the Inspector of Chitlapakkam police station to ensure the court order was complied with in letter and spirit.

Trump Says He Will ‘Probably' Visit Texas Floods on Friday

Donald Trump has stated he will 'probably' visit the scene of the deadly Texas flash flood disaster this Friday. At least 80 people have died after unexpected flash flooding in Texas began last Friday. In Kerr County, 28 children have died with 10 girls and one Christian summer counselor from Camp Mystic still missing. With more rain forecast, officials have urged people in Hunt, in Kerr County, to move to higher ground due to a potential of increased flooding. 'We wanted to leave a little time. I would have done it today, but we'd just be in their way. Probably Friday,' Trump told reporters in New Jersey on Sunday. The president later posted to Truth Social: 'GOD BLESS ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH SO MUCH, AND GOD BLESS THE STATE OF TEXAS!' Trump denied accusations Sunday that previous cuts to emergency services budgets had impacted the floods or informing residents about the incoming danger. 'They did not,' the president said. 'If you look at that water situation... that was really the (Joe) Biden setup, that was not our setup, but I wouldn't blame Biden for it either. I would just say, this is a (one in a) hundred year catastrophe and it's just so horrible to watch.' He had earlier signed a 'major disaster declaration' for Kerr County, Texas, 'to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need,' he wrote in a Truth Social post. 'These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders.' The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was activated following Trump's post. Last month, Trump said he planned to start 'phasing out' FEMA after the hurricane season ended. He said at the time, 'We want to wean off of FEMA, and we want to bring it down to the state level. A governor should be able to handle it, and frankly, if they can't handle it, the aftermath, then maybe they shouldn't be governor.' When asked if he still planned to phase FEMA out after the Texas tragedy, Trump said, 'Well FEMA is something we can talk about later, right now they're busy working so we'll leave it at that.' In February, the Trump administration sacked 880 workers at the country's national weather service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). On Sunday, Trump was also asked if any meteorologists who lost their jobs this year would be hired back. 'I wouldn't know that, I really wouldn't, I would think not,' he said. Trump insisted, 'This was a thing that happened in seconds, nobody expected it. Nobody saw it. Uh, very talented people are there and they didn't see it. I guess they said once in a 100 years they've never seen anything like this.' He continued, 'So, I wouldn't, uh, I mean people are trying to blame the school they're trying to blame the camp. They're trying to blame... it's just a horrible thing. but no, I wouldn't say that, no.'
