Ahead of its remaster, GOG added one of my favorite D&D videogames to its preservation program and is also giving owners of the original a 'loyalty discount' on the enhanced edition
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. First spotted by Blue's News, GOG is showing some love to Neverwinter Nights 2 and its fans ahead of the launch of the game's enhanced edition this week. The original game has been added to GOG's preservation program, and owners of NwN2 on GOG have a 15% off "loyalty discount" on the remaster, one that stacks with the 10% off preorder discount. The preservation program is a commitment by GOG to use its own developers to keep games running (and running well) on current and future versions of Windows. NwN2 has already benefitted from its inclusion: The game received its first update on GOG since 2015, finally fixing a black screen issue that has vexed me for years. The loyalty discount is also mighty neighborly, but as much as GOG Galaxy is the only launcher other than Steam I enthusiastically use, NwN2 Enhanced Edition still has a big draw on Valve's storefront: Steam Deck. NwN2 Enhanced has been verified since before it was even officially announced, and while it's possible to get GOG games working on Deck, it's a big hassle. As for what all the fuss is about, Neverwinter Nights 2 is a phenomenal D&D and Obsidian classic I would love to see get its flowers in the post-Baldur's Gate 3 era. The Enhanced Edition will offer a bundle of four huge RPG campaigns for $30, and while NwN2's mod scene was never as big as NwN1's, there are still some lauded campaigns there to check out like The Maimed God's Saga. The Enhanced Edition releases on July 15 on Steam and GOG, and that's also when the preorder discount ends and the loyalty discount drops to 15% from 25%. 2025 games: This year's upcoming releasesBest PC games: Our all-time favoritesFree PC games: Freebie festBest FPS games: Finest gunplayBest RPGs: Grand adventuresBest co-op games: Better together

Steam is coming to the Xbox PC app on Windows — and you can try it this week
The plan to make Windows and Xbox a go-anywhere platform for gaming kicked off a bit with the announcement of Microsoft's new aggregated gaming library. Starting this week, Xbox Insiders will be able to see Steam, and Xbox games in the Xbox PC app on Windows, which makes it a single launcher for your installed PC games. The first look can be accessed on Windows 11 PCs and handheld devices. To try it out, you do have to be enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview, which is pretty easy to access. You need to download the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox or Windows PC and join the program here. For those not involved in the Insiders program, the aggregated library will roll out to the Xbox app "this holiday." It will also be available on the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. "When a player installs a game from a supported PC storefront, it will automatically appear in 'My library' within the Xbox PC app, as well as the 'Most recent' list of titles in the sidebar—making it easier than ever to jump back into your games," Microsoft's announcement reads. According to Microsoft, as long as the game is installed from "supported PC stores," it will be listed in the library. There's also an extension area that lets you see the various storefronts. From there, you can hide storefronts in the Library & Extensions section of the Xbox app settings. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The Xbox post does not say exactly which storefronts will be supported beyond "leading" ones, which likely means Steam, Epic, and maybe GOG. It's all part of the future of Xbox gaming, where Microsoft appears to want to be the home of PC gaming while competing with Valve and its SteamOS.

You can buy one of the best games ever for the price of an ice lolly
The GOG summer sale is live and a discount on one of our favourite games is so good it feels almost criminal. We've highlighted some fantastic sales deals for video games recently (such as Sony's Mid-Year Deals sale, which went live yesterday) but we don't think we've ever seen a discount as generous as this one. We've always loved XCOM 2, a strategy game so perfect that we can easily recommend it even nearly 10 years after release and one we still hope developer Firaxis Games will return to with a new sequel. If you've yet to play it yourself, you really have no excuse now, as you can currently buy the game on PC for such a low price that it almost feels insulting to the game. GOG is currently running its annual summer sale, boasting discounts upwards of 95% off, across more than 8,000 PC games. We don't need to see the full list to tell you that XCOM 2's discount is the best deal. Instead of its usual asking price of £34.99, you can buy it for just £1.79. This doesn't include any of the DLC, but almost all of that's discounted too, including the equally excellent War Of The Chosen expansion for just £3.49. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. That means you can get two 10/10 classics – XCOM 2 and War Of The Chosen – for just £5.28. That's less than the price of a pint of beer in London nowadays. It's such a good deal that we can't help but worry it devalues the game, and gaming in general. When titles of this quality are barely more expensive than a Mars Bar, and cosmetics for Fortnite are 10 times the price, it does feel as if something has gone badly wrong. More Trending No that we're complaining about low prices though, and XCOM 2 is far from the only generous deal at the moment. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is almost half off at £34.49 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition is even cheaper at £7. You can view the full list of discounted PC games on GOG's storefront here, but the summer sale is only set to last for a few weeks, until July 9. While there's sadly no sign of Firaxis considering an XCOM 3 yet – in part because a lot of the top developers left after Marvel's Midnight Suns proved a flop – EA looks set to deliver the next best thing with next year's Star Wars Zero Company. It's certainly in good hands since developer Bit Reactor is comprised of former Firaxis staff who have experience with the XCOM games, something Zero Company is taking very obvious inspiration from. Devil May Cry and the early Mortal Kombat games join GOG's Preservation Program
GOG's Preservation Program launched in late 2024 and the number of included games has doubled since the initial wave, currently sitting at 183. The latest headline-grabbing additions are the first four mainline Devil May Cry games and Mortal Kombat 1+2+3. Devil May Cry: HD Collection was first released in 2012 and includes the first three entries in Capcom's enduring action series, all playable in 1080p/60fps (a big deal at the time). Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition , which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has also been added. Add to these the Mortal Kombat trilogy and you've got major entries in two of the most influential series in their respective genres guaranteed to be compatible with modern hardware and protected against DRM. The GOG Preservation Program pledges to ensure classic games remain playable beyond the point that their developers stop supporting them, safeguarding them for future generations to discover. As gaming moves even further towards an all-digital future, preservation remains a hot topic in the industry, with major publishers such as Ubisoft making a point of reminding players that they don't technically own the digital games they purchase (see: The Crew 2 players). Until July 2, you'll be able to purchase the newly added Devil May Cry games as a bundle for 67 percent off. Here are the other games also joining GOG's service this month.
