Brandy & Monica Announce First-Ever Co-Headlining Tour: The Boy Is Mine

Featuring Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, & 2025 American Idol Winner Jamal Roberts Mini-Movie Available for Embed – NEW YORK, June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The highly anticipated The Boy Is Mine Tour was officially announced today on CBS Mornings by Brandy and Monica. The iconic GRAMMY Award-winning artists will embark on their first-ever co-headlining run this fall. Produced by Black Promoters Collective, the 24-city arena tour kicks off October 16 and travels across the U.S. through December 7. It also marks a historic moment more than 25 years in the making, building on the legacy of their 1998 game-changing duet "The Boy Is Mine," which spent a record-shattering 13 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a defining cultural touchstone of late '90s R&B. The song also placed them in an elite group of artists — including Whitney Houston (14 weeks with "I Will Always Love You") and Mariah Carey (16 weeks with "One Sweet Day") — who have commanded the Hot 100's top spot for 13 weeks or more. Joining them on the road is a powerhouse lineup of special guests: GRAMMY-winning superstar Kelly Rowland, chart-topping singer-songwriter and GRAMMY winner Muni Long, and rising star Jamal Roberts, fresh off his 2025 American Idol Season 23 win. With talent that spans generations—from foundational to future—the tour is positioned to be one of the most unforgettable, unmissable live events of the year. Last year Brandy and Monica captivated a new generation with a surprise cameo in Ariana Grande's "the boy is mine" music video from her GRAMMY-nominated album Eternal Sunshine. Then, in a full-circle moment, they lent their voices to the official remix. The video appearance sparked a viral frenzy, racking up millions of views and "the boy is mine" remix with Grande earned the duo a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance—more than 25-years after the original win for "The Boy Is Mine," which took home Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 1999 GRAMMY Awards. The Boy Is Mine Tour promises a celebration of two of the most influential voices in R&B, each with catalogues full of era-defining hits that have shaped the genre across decades. It's a monumental moment: it's not only the first time Brandy and Monica have toured together, but a generational convergence honoring their unmatched influence while ushering in a bold new era of R&B. "Bringing Brandy and Monica together for this tour is more than just a moment — it's a cultural homecoming," says Shelby Joyner, President of Black Promoters Collective. "Their impact on R&B is immeasurable, and 'The Boy Is Mine' continues to be one of the most iconic collaborations of all time. At BPC, we're committed to celebrating culture and legacy, and this tour is a powerful example of both." "This really is a full-circle moment. Monica and I coming together again isn't just about the music—it's about honoring where we came from and how far we've both come. 'The Boy Is Mine' was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion—it's a celebration of growth, sisterhood, and the love our fans have given us from day one." — Brandy "The love that 'The Boy Is Mine' continues to receive means everything to me. This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music. We're giving the people what they've been asking for, and doing it with grace, love, and purpose. God's timing perfectly aligned us." — Monica Fans can expect a powerful, soul-stirring, and high-energy night of music and vocal brilliance, backed by a live band and special collaborative moments on stage. Each night promises to be more than a concert — a musical milestone. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time via Presales begin Thursday, June 26 from 10:00 AM to 11:59 PM local time via the code BPC. Lecrae: Bridging Faith, Culture, and Hip-Hop

Source: Jason Armond / Getty Lecrae Moore, known mononymously as Lecrae, is a GRAMMY-winning rapper, producer, and entrepreneur whose career has reshaped the landscape of Christian hip-hop and beyond. Born in Houston and raised in a variety of cities, Lecrae's music carries the weight of his personal journey—one rooted in faith, redemption, and community uplift. Lecrae's 2013 GRAMMY win for Best Gospel Album with Gravity marked a historic moment—not just for himself, but for the Christian hip-hop genre as a whole. That project, a blend of introspective lyricism, trap-influenced beats, and socially conscious storytelling, showcased Lecrae's ability to tackle real-world issues while staying grounded in spiritual themes. His work has made space for messages of faith in mainstream hip-hop and proved that rap with purpose can still top charts. Lecrae's artistry is deeply informed by hip-hop legends like Tupac Shakur and Nas, whose vivid storytelling and social commentary laid the groundwork for his narrative style. He also credits Outkast and Lauryn Hill for teaching him that music can be both thought-provoking and sonically rich. However, it wasn't just rap that shaped him—gospel artists like Kirk Franklin and soul legends like Curtis Mayfield helped guide Lecrae's blend of spiritual depth and cultural resonance. These influences gave rise to a unique sound: vulnerable yet powerful, rooted in Scripture yet attuned to the streets. Through his label, Reach Records, Lecrae has created space for artists who share his vision—offering a platform for voices often excluded from both the church and the mainstream industry. Lecrae's influence reaches far beyond album sales and award wins. Artists such as Andy Mineo, NF, and even Chance the Rapper have acknowledged Lecrae's impact—whether directly or indirectly—through their own work that fuses spirituality and hip-hop. In fact, Lecrae has paved the way for mainstream artists to explore faith openly in their lyrics without sacrificing artistic integrity or popularity. His unapologetic stance on racial justice, mental health, and inner-city struggles has also inspired non-musical community work and social reform. Lecrae doesn't just make music—he makes movements. His influence continues to ripple through both Christian and secular music spaces, proving that rhythm rooted in purpose can truly change the culture. SEE ALSO Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE

‘Hamilton' star Anthony Ramos calls out Madonna for her behavior at Broadway show: ‘Door's right there'

History was happening in Manhattan — and Madonna was on her iPad. 'Hamilton' actor Anthony Ramos is calling out the pop star for her behavior when she attended the Tony-winning Broadway show years ago. During a 'Watch What Happens Live' appearance, Andy Cohen asked the performer, 33, 'Who was the most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your 'Hamilton' days?' 8 Anthony Ramos on 'Watch What Happens Live.' Bravo 8 Andy Cohen on 'Watch What Happens Live.' Bravo Ramos replied: 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face.' 8 Anthony Ramos talks about Madonna on 'Watch What Happens Live.' Charles Sykes/Bravo 'She was like this the whole time,' he added on Thursday, as he pretended to look down at a screen. 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty,'' he continued. 'I'm like, 'If you not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't got to stay here.'' The Post reached out to a rep for Madonna for comment. Ramos starred in the original 2015 musical, taking on two roles — including playing Alexander Hamilton's son Philip, who is killed in a duel. 8 Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anthony Ramos attend Lin-Manuel Miranda's final performance of 'Hamilton' on Broadway. Getty Images The actor isn't the first to speak about Madonna's appearance at the Richard Rodgers Theater. Lin-Manuel Miranda — who starred as Alexander Hamilton and also wrote the book and music — tweeted about the incident at the time. 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou,' he wrote at the time. 8 Anthony Ramos performs on stage during 'Hamilton' GRAMMY performance. WireImage Despite not sharing the person's name, rumors circulated that Madonna was the culprit. The Grammy winner's publicist denied the accusations, stating: 'It's not true. She was invited backstage four different times.' 'She texted post show when they were doing their fundraising pitch,' her rep continued. 'Madonna had already made a generous donation.' 8 Madonna performs onstage during 'The Celebration Tour' at Copacabana beach on May 4, 2024. WireImage for Live Nation Jonathan Groff, who played King George III, also confirmed the rumors, sharing that she was not invited backstage 'because that b–ch was on her phone.' The 'Spring Awakening' star, 40, expressed, 'You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show.' The 'Vogue' artist is no stranger to Broadway, having starred in the play 'Speed-the-Plow' by David Mamet play in 1988. Then, in 1996, Madonna portrayed Eva Perón in the film adaptation of 'Evita.' She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. 8 Madonna at the 2025 Met Gala. Getty Images Broadway vet Patti LuPone previously won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Eva on Broadway in 1979. The actress, 76, was critical of Madonna's take on the role. While on 'Watch What Happens Live' in 2017, a viewer asked LuPone, 'Did you and Madonna ever have a conversation about your two iconic performances as Evita?' 'No,' she responded. 'But she was downstairs at the Mitzi Newhouse when I was upstairs doing 'Anything Goes' in the Vivian Beaumont, and a press agent actually put a sign up that there was only one diva allowed in this theater at a time. It wasn't me! It was the press agent that did it. I don't know whether she ever found out about it. I did meet her after her opening night party, and the only thing that Madonna has ever said to me was, 'I'm taller than you.' Bada-bing!' 8 Madonna is seen attending Lempicka show on Broadway on May 18, 2024 in New York City. GC Images 'What did you think of her role in 'Evita'?' Cohen, 57, asked. 'I was on the treadmill. You know when MTV used to have music videos, right? I saw, I believe it was 'Buenos Aires,' and I thought it was a piece of s–t,' LuPone admitted. 'Madonna is a movie killer. She's dead behind the eyes. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or on stage. She's a wonderful performer for what she does, but she's not an actress. Bing!'
