G-Shock's Unbeatably Affordable Watch Just Became as Pristine as Possible

A powerhouse of approachability, this entry in the 5600 Series might be the Casio sub-brand's most minimalist offering ever. Every product is carefully selected by our editors. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more Despite costing under $100, G-Shock's long-running 5600 Series is among the Casio sub-brand's best offerings. One of its big strengths is its expansive catalog of colorway options, ranging from mild to wild (like the recent Sith-like black-and-red drop). However, the latest version, the G-Shock DW5600WW-7, is unique in that its colorway makes it perhaps the most minimalist in the entire lineup. What sets this particular G-Shock apart is its complete and utter lack of color. This is about as pale as any of the brand's watches have ever been. Over the course of the 5600 Series' history, there have been other white versions (including this currently available one). Still, they usually have a pop of color or stylistic flourish somewhere. By comparison, this one is almost entirely devoid of even a speck of contrast, if not for its silver pushers, buckle and gray dial lettering. Of course, it still has the watch's signature display with its gray background and black digits, letters and icons. Still, G-Shock's simply don't get more minimalist than this one. Of course, importantly, it is still a G-Shock — meaning it boasts at least the brand's signature baseline capabilities. If you're wondering if this watch's absurdly low price means it compromises its abilities, don't. It still has the G-Shock name, and the brand stands by its offerings. Like its siblings, this watch has a durable resin case (with a bio-based resin bezel) and an integrated rubber strap. It also boasts the brand's signature shock-proof housing, which can take a serious beating and keep right on ticking. It also has mineral glass, a Super Illuminator LED backlight (with Afterglow), simple pusher operation of its onboard features and more. Oh yeah, those onboard features include a multi-functional stopwatch, a timer, a full-auto calendar, multiple alarms and more — you know, G-Shock stuff. It ain't fancy, but it gets the job done again and again and again … The G-Shock DW5600WW-7 digital watch is now available on the brand's site for $99. $99 at G-Shock

This Minimalist Beauty May Be the Best-Looking G-Shock I've Ever Seen

The Japanese brand, known for its ruggedness and unique styling blend, is crushing the summer watch game this year. Every product is carefully selected by our editors. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more G-Shock is no stranger to unleashing a bevy of new releases every year. However, 2025 appears to be the start of a particular trend. This is the era of the Japanese brand's summertime watch. This year's launch calendar has seen many smaller, more wearable timepieces and lighter colorways, from the Crocs CasiOak to a 'natural' Hender Scheme collab to a stark-white 5600. While they've largely been fantastic, the brand's latest, the G-Shock x Hidden DW5600HDN257, might just be the best one yet. When compared to, frankly, most of G-Shock's catalog, this watch is positively minimalist. But a keen eye will unravel the little details that make it such a spectacular standout. The most obvious detail is the bully bars. Ostensibly, the black metal wraparound frame is designed to protect the watch from impacts. It's a simple, relatively elegant innovation that other G-Shocks have sported. The collab's overall subtlety adds to the watch's allure and keeps the busyness to a minimum. But on this watch, the black stands out against the white case and dial, adding some depth and character. That brings up another point: No, the watch isn't just solid white; it's semitransparent. Unlike the bully bars, the case is much more subtle, requiring greater scrutiny to appreciate. Apart from the bully bars and, obviously, the black of the digital screen, the only other color marring this watch is the green found on the dial dots, exterior edges of the case — within the debossed 'Protection' and 'G-Shock' labels — and on the strap. That color, by the way, is Hidden's signature hue. Finally, there's one other sneaky detail. Behind the digital display and visible only when the LED backlight is turned on, there's a hidden Hidden logo (pardon the repetition). The collab's overall subtlety adds to the watch's allure and keeps the busyness to a minimum. As is always the case, even with these stylish collabs, a G-Shock is a G-Shock is a G-Shock. As such, this one maintains the same ruggedness you should always expect. It has the brand's signature shock-resistant housing, is water resistant to 200 meters, has a suite of built-in complications (stopwatch, timer, calendar — you know the drill) and so on. Plus, there's the added protection from the bully bars, which can be removed if you really dislike them, although that would cost this watch some of its charm. The greater point is that this watch isn't some delicate flower you need to keep protected under a glass cloche in a secret chamber in a mansion tower. Yeah, it looks great, but it's meant to be worn. If you get one, make sure you do it justice. The G-Shock x Hidden DW5600HDN257 dropped on Hidden's site at 3 PM EST today, July 11. But it won't stay in stock for long, least of all at $175. $175 at Hidden
