Genesis GV90 Leak Reveals Ultra-Luxury Interior And Purple Leather

Genesis is inching closer to unveiling its flagship electric SUV, the GV90, and a new set of spy shots is offering the clearest look yet at its production interior. Captured during testing and originally shared by HealerTV on YouTube, the images reveal a cabin that blends high-end luxury with strong visual links to the Genesis Neolun Concept. The GV90 will sit above the GV80 in Genesis' SUV lineup and is expected to become the brand's most expensive and technologically advanced model to date. It will ride on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform — the same dedicated EV architecture underpinning the GV60, Kia EV9, and Hyundai Ioniq 7 — allowing for fast charging, a flat floor, and optimised packaging. That also means the GV90 will likely offer 800V electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging speeds and advanced software support, including over-the-air updates and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability — although final specs are still under wraps. 0:08 / 0:09 VW will introduce a sub-$20,000 EV, but probably not here Watch More Purple Leather, Rear Screens, And Four-Seat Layout The standout feature in these new photos is the use of bold purple leather upholstery, seen across the door cards, seats, and centre console — closely mirroring the Neolun's 'Purple Silk' interior theme. The design direction suggests that Genesis is targeting a luxurious, lounge-like feel rather than the more minimalist aesthetic seen in rivals. Rear-seat comfort also appears to be a focus. The GV90 test mule shows a four-seat layout, with a large central console in the back housing cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and what looks to be a secondary display. This setup hints at chauffeur-style practicality for higher trims. At the front, a wide curved display stretches across the dashboard — a common trait in current Genesis models — though its exact dimensions and functionality remain unconfirmed. The design language bears clear resemblance to both the GV60 and the updated GV80, with soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and integrated air vents expected to carry over. Designed To Challenge The Best Genesis has made no secret of its ambition to take on the global luxury establishment — and the GV90 is shaping up to be a clear marker of intent. Positioned above the combustion-powered G90 sedan in the product hierarchy, it's being developed not just as a flagship SUV, but as a statement EV. The four-seat layout and detailed finish already push it into territory typically occupied by long-wheelbase luxury SUVs like the BMW iX M60, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, and even Range Rover SV. And while Genesis may lack the brand legacy of those European rivals, it's been quietly building a reputation for high-quality design, materials, and technology. If the GV90 delivers on its early promise — and arrives with competitive range, pricing, and driver tech — it could shake up the segment in a big way. Expect more official details before the end of 2025, with a full launch likely in early 2026. About the Author Max Taylor View Profile

The Biggest Genesis SUV Yet Is Almost Here

Genesis Is Finally Revealing Some Of The GV90's Looks Genesis is serious about taking on luxury European rivals, and to do that, it needs products in the segments where BMW, Mercedes, and Range Rover are operating. While one side of creating a high-end image is showing one's performance credentials, which Genesis aims to do at Le Mans very soon, another is the luxury element, and the upcoming GV90 will take the Korean brand to new heights, rivaling premium SUVs like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Our spies have caught a development mule undergoing testing in Austria, and for the first time, the big SUV is showing its front-end lighting signature properly, confirming a bold new look. The Lighting Signature Will Look Like No Other If these spy shots show a somewhat familiar face, you may be recognizing elements of the Genesis Neolun concept, revealed last year. Like that show car, the prototype in these images has a distinctive lighting signature that sees two LED running lights stretch across the front fascia, pausing over the top of the wheel arches, and resuming at the rear of the front fenders. The bottom DRL deviates slightly near the middle, slanting inward to create a valley that gives the GV90 its Genesis-specific look. A pair of intake grilles above and below the license plate will help with the impression of width, and we suspect there may be additional lighting units on each end of the bumper. Big wheels are a given, as is metallic trim around the glasshouse. We haven't got a great view of the back since there's still a lot of fabric camouflage clad to the car, but another dual-strip lighting design is evident. We expect less chrome than the concept, but the diamond-shaped grille mesh should make production. What To Expect Beneath The Sculpted Skin Source: Autoblog While this particular prototype has conventional doors, earlier spy shots have indicated that the rear-opening coach doors that helped give the Neolun concept so much presence will make production, likely as an option. This could also suggest that a long-wheelbase version will be available, much like the ESV take on the Cadillac Escalade. The GV90 is reportedly codenamed JG1 and is based on a new EV platform called eM, which can be used to underpin SUVs as large as the GV90, along with vehicles small enough for the compact segment. As many as 13 new vehicles are expected to be launched on the architecture by 2030, though that may shift as legislation does. Will it be good enough to beat Audi's upcoming Q9 and rivals from BMW and Mercedes? Time will tell, but the signs are good so far. About the Author Sebastian Cenizo View Profile

2026 Genesis GV90: Flagship electric SUV spied

The Genesis GV90, the luxury brand's upcoming flagship crossover, has been spotted doing some hot laps around the Nurburgring. Although the prototype is clad head to toe in camouflage, we can clearly see the overall design is based heavily on the Neolun concept (pictured at the bottom), which was revealed at the 2024 New York motor show. Practically the only gaps in the camouflage are for small slits at both ends of the car. Out of these peek the brand's signature twin-line lighting elements. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. At the front, the bottom line of lights seem to dip as it approaches the middle of the car, creating a V-shaped faux grille display. Along the side the upper line traces the lower edge of the clamshell bonnet all the way to rear of the front fender. While the concept had reverse-hinged rear doors and a B-pillar-free design for easy ingress and egress, the production car sticks with a traditional door layout. The rear doors are significantly larger than those at the front, which when combined the long rear overhang hints at the car's size. Although the concept had seating for just four people, the production car will likely be offered with three rows of seats. Given the rise in popularity of luxury four-seat people movers, such as the Lexus LM and Buick GL8 Century, we certainly can't rule out the possibility of a four-seat version — it would certainly give the car more differentiation from its platform-mates, as well as external competitors, such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. The GV90 is thought to ride on Hyundai's all-electric E-GMP architecture, making it a relative of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. Both the Ioniq 9 and EV9 measure a smidge over five metres in length, and ride on a wheelbase around 3.1m long. The top-spec Ioniq 9 has dual-motor all-wheel drive layout making a total of 320kW and 700Nm, and is capable of ripping through the 0-100km/h standard in 5.2 seconds. Battery capacity currently maxes out at 110kWh, while charging speeds up to 350kW are supported. Obviously there's no word yet on pricing for the GV90, but it would be above both the Kia and Hyundai. The EV9 currently tops out at around $110,000, and the Ioniq 9 is expected go beyond that as it has a larger battery pack. The production version of the GV90 was initially set to be launched at the end of 2025, but the latest rumours indicate the car has been delayed slightly. 2026 Genesis GV90 Electric Flagship SUV Looks Massive in Spy Photos

Genesis is preparing a flagship electric SUV, and the 2026 GV90 SUV has been spotted testing on the Nürburgring race track in Germany. The GV90 was previewed by the Neolun concept last year and retains the same colossal footprint, twin-line LED headlights, and chunky front end. The GV90 appears to ride on air suspension with rear-wheel steering and, at least on this example, features a two-seat second row instead of a rear bench. Genesis solidified rumors that it is planning a large flagship SUV when it unveiled the decadent Neolun concept ahead of last year's New York auto show. Expected to be called the GV90 when it reaches production, we now have proof that the gigantic electric SUV is nearing its debut. Our spy photographer snapped the GV90 testing on the Nürburgring, revealing key design elements from the minivan-like silhouette to flashy chrome wheels. KGP Photography | Car and Driver Sometimes it can be hard to get a sense of a vehicle's true size from spy photos, especially when no other cars are nearby for reference. But the GV90 looks truly massive in these new photos, and the way it sits on its chrome 22-inch wheels makes it appear heavy and solid. Like the Neolun concept, the production model has an upright front end and a long, mostly flat roofline. While the Neolun concept removed the B-pillars and featured flashy coach-style doors for easy entry to the purple-leather-equipped cabin, the production GV90 takes a more practical approach with B-pillars and traditional doors. The GV90 will, of course, wear the Genesis brand's twin-line LED lighting motif up front, although the look isn't as simplified as the concept's front lights, and it's unclear if the lights will stretch across the front end to form a triangular grille shape like on the Neolun. The lower bumper appears to remain faithful to the concept with an upside-down U-shaped ridge and venting with an intricate latticework. Full-width taillights also appear to carry over from the concept, sporting the same twin-line LED look. KGP Photography | Car and Driver The GV90 is expected to be sold exclusively with an electric powertrain, and rumors suggest that it will ride on a new platform called "eM" that features an 800-volt electrical architecture. In 2022, parent company Hyundai said the eM platform would bring a 50 percent improvement in driving range versus its current EVs and also said the platform would support Level 3 and higher autonomous driving technology. While earlier spy photos of the GV90 testing in a wintry region showed it wearing 285/45R-22 Michelin X-Ice Snow SUV tires, the GV90 is fitted here with Pirelli P Zero E tires of the same size. Close-up photos also reveal that the GV90 is riding on air suspension and features rear-wheel steering, neither of which is a surprise for a vehicle in this class. KGP Photography | Car and Driver Our spy photographer also peeked inside, revealing a two-seat layout in the second row with the rear passengers separated by a center console with cupholders, a wireless phone charger, and a sizable screen. We wouldn't be surprised if this represents a sort of "executive" package, and we think a full rear bench could be available in the United States. Buttons on the pillar behind the second-row seats imply the presence of a third row. Unfortunately, it seems like the snazzy quilted purple leather of the Neolun concept hasn't made it to production. The GV90 will likely compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Cadillac Escalade iQ as well as pricier versions of the Lucid Gravity. We expect the GV90 to start at around $100,000, with production likely to take place in South Korea. A full reveal should come later this year. Genesis could tackle Defender with luxury off-roader

After launching only with sedans, Korean luxury brand Genesis has been busily rolling out SUVs – and its latest concept car could be among its upcoming new models. 'The X Gran Equator is a new potential addition to a lineup which is already quite big,' Genesis chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke told Australian media at this month's New York motor show. 'In a couple of years we have reached a family of SUVs… We have shown last year there's another one coming, a flagship SUV, very soon,' he added, referring to the upcoming GV90 previewed by last year's Neolun concept. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. Supplied Credit: CarExpert 'Now the question is: how do we position the Gran Equator within this lineup? How do we ensure there's not going to be an overlap or cannibalisation between those vehicles? 'I do believe there's room for that.' Once the GV90 is launched, Genesis will have four SUVs: the small, electric-only GV60; the mid-size GV70, available with combustion or electric power; and the large, combustion-powered GV80, which is expected to be among the first Genesis models to get the brand's upcoming 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain. These SUVs complement the mid-size G70 sedan and wagon, the large G80 sedan, and the flagship G90 limousine offered overseas – the latter of which could spawn coupe and/or convertible variants. Supplied Credit: CarExpert Genesis hasn't released powertrain details for the X Gran Equator concept, nor has it released dimensions. However, it's clearly on the larger side, particularly with that lengthy bonnet. While its chunky Ridge Grappler LT315/45R24 tyres wrapped around huge 24-inch wheels point to a level of off-road ability, the X Gran Equator's long bonnet and two-row seating configuration – if not its squared-off lines – call to mind sleek, more coupe-like SUVs like the defunct Infiniti QX70. Mr Donckerwolke said the X Gran Equator concept isn't a flight of fantasy, and is technically feasible. Supplied Credit: CarExpert 'Basically, the Gran Equator was designed by my team in a very short time. Like all the other projects, I make sure that because of my engineering team being involved in the project that all those projects are feasible, that we don't have to face any big hurdles if we have to realise that would basically make the project unsuitable,' he said. 'From the technical point of view, the platform works, the technical side works, now it's obviously the demand.' Mr Donckerwolke told media in New York that between the show and the concept's unveiling at the Genesis House retail location the night before, it had already received a positive reception internally. 'Everybody has called and asked, 'When can I have it?'. All the regions have been. I think this is a big progress,' he said. Supplied Credit: CarExpert Supplied Credit: CarExpert 'It's plugging into the SUV emotion, it's going back to the off-road capability that actually makes those SUVs genuine and authentic.' While it has key Genesis design cues like its Twin Lamp split-level lighting, it doesn't simply look like a smaller or larger version of any existing SUV from Hyundai's premium brand. 'It has its own character… We don't want to do the Russian dolls. All the cars have their own characters, their own specific tailored design,' said Mr Donckerwolke. Unique details on the concept's exterior include a split-opening tailgate, and four individual sunroofs. Supplied Credit: CarExpert Supplied Credit: CarExpert Inside, Genesis designers went for a mixture of analogue and digital design elements. There's no touchscreen – an omission that would surely be rectified with a production version – but there are four discrete digital dials said to be inspired by the dials of vintage cameras. There's a crystal-look rotary controller similar to that in the GV60, while some of the switchgear on and around the steering wheel is reminiscent of that in current Genesis models. Supplied Credit: CarExpert The swivelling front seats are unique to the X Gran Equator, however, as are the chunky grab handles on either side of the centre stack and rear centre console. The cabin has a two-tone colourway, while the upholstery has a diamond pattern – another example of Genesis' G-Matrix patterning. Genesis says its concept 'marries on-road sophistication with off-road resilience', though it hasn't shared any technical specifications of the vehicle, such as dimensions or powertrain type. The luxury brand's concepts usually lead to production vehicles, with the exception of its various two-door coupe and convertible concepts – none of which, thus far, have entered production.
