Arsenal ramp up Eberechi Eze interest after Viktor Gyokeres transfer

'Arsenal are aiming to swiftly move' to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer after wrapping up a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Independent. Per the reports, Eze made Arsenal his top choice, and those close to him believe 'a deal will be done in the next few weeks.' Arsenal are looking for reinforcement on the flanks, and Eze fits the bill, having spearheaded Palace to a mid-table Premier League finish and an FA Cup win. Eze bagged 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances, including the goal in the final to seal the cup for the Eagles, catching the eyes of suitors like Arsenal. The Gunners need strengthening on that left flank after an underwhelming campaign from Gabriel Martinelli, who failed to hit the heights of his 2022/23 campaign. Leandro Trossard has come up with some big moments for Arsenal, but the Gunners could use an upgrade as they bid to end their 21-year wait for a Premier League title. Arsenal faltered last term as they did not have enough options when key players like Bukayo Saka were injured. Manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta have moved to plug that problem. The UEFA Champions League semi-finalists have recruited Noni Madueke to provide competition for Saka on the right side. Eze will most likely do the same or even usurp the opposite flank. Arsenal reportedly want to sign Eze for around £60 million, less than his reported £68 million release clause. They also want to pay in three instalments of £20 million and possibly insert Reiss Nelson to sweeten the deal. Eze could become Arsenal's seventh signing of a busy summer. The North Londoners have added Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Gyokeres. The latter is undergoing a medical before signing on the dotted line.

'I'm very happy with what he is doing'

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he "always wants better" from his players but is "very happy" with forward Gabriel has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer after an injury-hit campaign in which he started 25 Premier League games and managed eight Gunners have strengthened in wide areas with the addition of Noni Madueke from Chelsea."With all our front players, I think they are very dependent on the environment we create around them," Arteta said before Sunday's pre-season friendly against Newcastle in Singapore."We always want better and more from every single player. I think Gabi has performed very well and very consistently in the past three or four seasons. "Last year, he had the bad injury that he picked up and he missed a lot of games - but I'm very happy with what he is doing with us."The Gunners are close to confirming the signing of Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres and Arteta says he will be flexible in choosing his starting forwards next season."It is about impact and performance," he added. "How they are feeling, how their emotional state is, how their confidence is."Then as well, the connections you can generate in the team - who links better with who in what we want to achieve in that game and against the opponent that behaves in a particular way."That decision relates to that. Once someone is in the right moment and pushing the door full of confidence, for sure the manager is not going to stop them playing."

Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli welcomes new signings amid definite competition for game time

SINGAPORE – In a summer where transfer speculation has circled largely over Arsenal's front three and what it may look like come the start of the season in August, winger Gabriel Martinelli has instead extended a warm welcome to the club's new signings and vows to do his best for the team. The Gunners are in town for this week's Singapore Festival of Football where they will play friendlies against AC Milan on July 23 and Newcastle United on July 27 at the National Stadium. Arsenal have been busy in the ongoing summer transfer window. Noni Madueke, their fourth and most recent acquisition from city rivals Chelsea, will offer star player Bukayo Saka some much-needed competition on the right wing. However, Madueke, primarily left-footed, has not been a stranger to playing on the opposite flank and Martinelli, a left-sided forward, has chosen to view it in a positive light. In an interview with The Straits Times on July 21, Martinelli said: 'I'm really happy with the signings. Really good players. We're trying to help them feel (at) home. I look forward to playing with them.' Arsenal's other summer signings include Kepa Arrizabalaga, also from Chelsea, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Christian Norgaard from fellow London club Brentford. There could yet be more arrivals in the coming weeks. Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has been linked with the club while Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres is heavily tipped to join them in what could turn out to be one of the standout deals of the summer. Martinelli himself managed eight goals in 33 appearances. When asked what kind of striker complements his style of play, he chose to keep his options within the current squad. 'I really like Kai (Havertz) and Gabby Jesus. For example, Gabby likes to rotate with me. I like to cross as well and Kai is always there. I like to play with them both,' said the Brazilian, whose personal goals for the season are to 'stay fit and help the team win titles'. He added: 'Three seasons (we've) been second. We want to win it (the English Premier League) this year. We're going to try our best.' The north London club have not won a top-flight title in 21 years. He hopes that this season will be the start of something special, beginning with their pre-season tour of Singapore, a new destination for the 24-year-old. 'I'm looking forward to seeing the fans in the stadium, people (who) wake up in the middle of the night to watch us. 'We're going to try our best to win the games and make them happy,' said Martinelli, who enjoys the hot weather here, which is similar to his native Brazil. Along with goalkeeper David Raya and centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, Martinelli attended a fan meet-and-greet session at the Adidas Brand Centre Orchard, where the Gunners' away kit for the 2025-26 season was unveiled. It will be worn for the first time when the team take to the National Stadium pitch against Milan. Engaged couple Brandon Rajendra and Adelia Soh were two lucky fans to get up close with the trio of players and they grabbed the opportunity with both hands, bringing their wedding portrait as memorabilia to be signed. Rajendra, 26, said: 'We want to hang it up in our house.' 'Directly above our bed,' added Soh, 25, with a laugh. After the Singapore Festival of Football, Arsenal will continue their pre-season tour in Asia with a friendly north London derby against arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong before returning to England for home games against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Arsenal seal divisive move for Chelsea winger Madueke

Madueke agreed a five-year contract with the Gunners as he moved to the Emirates Stadium despite complaints from Arsenal fans. The 23-year-old will provide competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the flanks in Mikel Arteta's side. Madueke's switch across London, which could eventually exceed £52 million with performance-related add-ons, has sparked stinging criticism from supporters who believe he is not worth the price tag. A petition labelled 'No to Madueke' has attracted more than 5,000 signatures from Arsenal fans, while murals outside the Emirates were vandalised with 'Arteta out' slogans. Madueke left Chelsea's Club World Cup winning campaign in the United States last Friday to undergo his medical at Arsenal and put the finishing touches to the deal. "Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League," Arteta said. "At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. Having seen the quality of Noni's performances up close in recent seasons, we're really excited he is joining us. "Noni joins our group with familiar England teammates and other players he knows. He will be made to feel at home straight away. His arrival will really improve our squad. We're all thrilled to have him here." 'Great to go back home' Madueke, who raised in north London added: "I'm really happy and really proud, so it's a great moment for me. It's great to go back home, be with my mum, my dad. I know my mum misses me in the house! "It's already a great team with a clear identity and I can't wait to bring my style to the team and try and help the boys as much as possible to take that next step. "I want to win all the competitions we're in. I feel like we're definitely capable of doing that." Madueke scored 11 times for Chelsea in all competitions last season, taking his overall tally to 20 in 90 appearances in all competitions for the Blues. He helped Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the UEFA Conference League last term, as well as making his first England appearances. Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven for £30 million in 2023, is the latest close-season signing by Arsenal after the arrivals of midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. He takes Arsenal's spending so far to around £120 million, with Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera's £13 million move expected to be finalised shortly. Arsenal also remain hopeful of signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Saudi Arabian giants not considering a move for Real Madrid superstar

In recent weeks, Rodrygo has been closely linked with a move to Saudi Arabia giants Al Nassr. It was reported earlier that Al Nassr were looking to team Rodrygo up with Cristiano Ronaldo to build an attack force capable of dominating the Saudi League. Advertisement Rodrygo has since been linked with a move to few other European giants, including Arsenal. Al Nassr not considering a move for Rodrygo However, Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the future of Rodrygo, notably refuting the earlier speculation linking him with a move to Al Nassr. As per Romano, reports linking Al Nassr to Rodrygo are wide off the mark and has no semblance of truth. The same applies to reports linking Al Nassr to Arsenal superstar Gabriel Martinelli. Al Nassr are not considering a move for Rodrygo (Photo by) Romano adds that Al Nassr are working on different targets and a completely different budget that what is being speculated. Advertisement The possibility of Rodrygo joining Saudi Arabia, therefore, is pretty much out of the question. However, that doesn't necessarily rule out a potential exit for the Brazilian international. Rodrygo, after all, has also been linked with a move to Arsenal and even Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks. Not to mention, the Brazilian has also failed to make an impression in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, notably falling behind Arda Guler in the pecking order. This doesn't bode well for Rodrygo's prospects in the first-team, especially with Franco Mastantuono also expected to join the club sometime in August. Keeping that in mind, it will be interesting to see how Real Madrid deal with the Rodrygo situation, especially if they do receive an offer from the likes of Arsenal or PSG this summer.
