Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake might release sooner than expected
It appears that the French video game publisher Ubisoft is in the works to remake the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag game, which was launched back in October 2013. A voice actor who was behind the voice of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's protagonist Edward Kenway hinted that the remake is under development and gamers might soon get to play it. Matt Ryan, the man who voiced the in-game character Kenway, was seen at a convention engaging in an interaction where he said: 'Have you beat the game?... Well you may have to beat it again.' What further confirmed the suspicion of the remake was when he said: 'There's a reason I say that but I can't say anything.' According to a report dated October 4, 2024, by Insider Gaming, certain details were shared with the publication, which suggested that the remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag—codenamed Obsidian—was well under development and it could be released by the end of 2025. Additionally, as per Gadgets360, back in July 2023, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that the company had several remakes of classic Assassin's Creed games in development, though he did not specify which titles were being reworked. Assassin's Creed Shadows delay and domino effect on pipeline After the release of the Assassin's Creed Shadows which was delayed heavily, Ubisoft announced that it would be pushing back the release of some of its major upcoming games. The company said the delay was to allow more time for development and to ensure the best possible conditions for the games' success, as reported by Gadgets360. While Ubisoft did not name the specific titles facing delays, the statement hinted that some of its biggest franchises — such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six — might be affected. Since the game is now in public, it is possible that the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag might be released by the end of this year or in early 2026. What is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag all about? Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft and released in 2013. Set during the early 18th century Golden Age of Piracy, it follows Edward Kenway, a pirate-turned-Assassin caught between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order. Unlike earlier games, Black Flag puts a strong emphasis on naval exploration, allowing players to captain their own ship — the Jackdaw — and sail across a vast Caribbean world that includes locations like Havana, Nassau, and Kingston. The game focuses on themes of freedom and rebellion. Players can engage in ship battles, treasure hunts, harpooning, and traditional stealth-based missions. Edward's journey evolves from a selfish pursuit of fortune to a deeper involvement in the Assassins' cause. A modern-day storyline also runs parallel, as players relive Edward's memories through the Animus, continuing the broader Assassin's Creed narrative.

Samsung's affordable Galaxy Buds Core are coming this week, but the US may miss out
Samsung UAE TL;DR Samsung is all set to unveil the Galaxy Buds Core, successors to the Galaxy Buds FE. The earbuds will arrive on June 27 as per an Amazon listing. It's unclear if American buyers will be able to get their hands on the new earbuds at launch. Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Buds Core, its next set of entry-level earbuds, are arriving soon. The company began teasing the Buds Core in India over the weekend, and an Amazon India page has already gone live, listing a June 27 sale date for the earbuds. The Galaxy Buds Core are expected to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Buds FE, which launched in 2023 for $99. But this time, Samsung has not spoken about a US release for the Buds Core. It's unclear if American buyers will be able to get their hands on the new earbuds at launch. Samsung India Hints about the Buds Core have been floating around for a while. Our earlier APK teardown revealed that Samsung was working on both the Buds Core and the Galaxy Buds 3 FE. More recently, folks over at Gadgets360 spotted the Buds Core listed on Samsung's official UAE website, signaling a global rollout, even if the US isn't on the launch map just yet. The last model to debut in the Galaxy Buds series was the higher-end Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which arrived back in mid-2024. So, it's no surprise that new models are on the way. The Buds Core appear to be a notable upgrade over the Buds FE, at least when it comes to battery life. According to a certification listing from a testing firm, the Buds Core will feature significantly larger batteries. While the Buds FE offered a 60mAh cell per earbud and a 479mAh charging case, the Buds Core could bump things up to a total of 200mAh for the earbuds, likely 100mAh per bud, and a slightly larger 500mAh charging case. If these numbers are accurate, the improvements could result in much longer listening times, which was one of the few pain points of the otherwise well-received FE model. With the launch just days away, more details, including whether these buds will be headed to the US, should become clearer soon.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered rockets to top of Steam sales
American company Bethesda's upgraded version of 'The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered', a 20-year-old video game, has become one of the most played on Steam (digital distribution platform for PC games) after being released on Tuesday. It has climbed to the top of the platform's sales chart, according to a report by Gadgets360. According to the reviews on Steam, 82 per cent of the 19,291 reviews are positive. Online player reactions are largely positive, with fans applauding the remaster for staying true to the original game. Strong start Gadgets360, while citing data from SteamDB, reported that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered hit a peak of 190,119 concurrent players within just a day of its release on April 22. It quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the most-played titles on Steam, trailing major games like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Dota 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Apex Legends. The numbers are notable given that the remaster also launched on Game Pass (Xbox Game Pass subscription service) the same day, meaning many players are accessing it through Microsoft's subscription service at no extra cost. With the game also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the total player base is likely far larger. Bethesda might share more comprehensive figures soon. The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: What's new The remastered edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion brings a full visual and technical overhaul, rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The Verge reported that the game includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions and showcases significantly enhanced graphics, lighting, and environmental detail through complete asset recreation. The remaster introduces improved lip-syncing, upgraded audio, and modernised UI elements. Updates also affect encumbrance, passive skills, and other non-combat mechanics to better match current-gen expectations.
