According to the Telangana Government's official G.O. Rt. No. 56, dated March 9, 2025, issued by the Industries and Commerce Department (Textiles Wing) and further directives from the Commissionerate of Handlooms and Textiles, Hyderabad, all eligible handloom weavers in the district have been informed of the scheme's provisions and next steps. Jogulamba Gadwal District Gears Up for Monsoon Challenges with Proactive Disaster Management Plan

Gadwal: To effectively face potential natural disasters in the district, all departments must work in coordination and take advance precautionary measures, said District Collector B.M. Santhosh. On Tuesday, a coordination meeting was held with officials at the IDOC meeting hall to discuss the Disaster Management Action Plan. The Collector emphasized that the administration should not merely react after disasters occur, but rather take proactive measures in advance. He noted that since the district is located between the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers, heightened vigilance is necessary. While no major disasters have occurred in the past decade, he recalled that floods in 2009 led to crop damage. He warned that, due to early monsoons beginning in June, there is a high possibility of heavy rainfall this year. As part of the precautionary measures, the Collector instructed the formation of disaster management committees at mandal and village levels under the chairmanship of Tahsildars, similar to the district-level committee. The Additional Collector (Revenue) has been appointed as the district nodal officer for disaster management. Tahsildars are to conduct mandal-level meetings and form effective teams for quick response. Officials from irrigation, education, health, roads and buildings, animal husbandry, and fisheries departments were briefed on responsibilities within their jurisdictions. The next three months are crucial, and all departments must be prepared to respond immediately to any emerging issues. Special attention must be given to villages along riverbanks. Vulnerable houses and school buildings in dilapidated condition must be identified beforehand, and if necessary, arrangements must be made to shift residents to safer locations. The Irrigation Department was instructed to immediately respond to issues at tanks and ponds. Panchayat Raj and R&B engineers must monitor roads and undertake necessary repair works without delay. Emergency transport facilities should be arranged for pregnant women in flood-prone areas. Fever surveys should be conducted in villages, and essential medicines made readily available. To prevent the spread of dengue, ASHA workers and ANMs should actively provide healthcare services. Under the supervision of the Panchayat Raj Department, sanitation efforts must be stepped up to prevent water stagnation on roads. The Electricity Department was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and take preventive measures against hazards from submerged electric poles and hanging wires. The Fisheries Department was advised to hold meetings with fishermen and keep boats and trained swimmers (rescue divers) ready to respond during floods. All departments must perform their duties with responsibility under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act. Officials must remain accessible and alert at all times over the next two months. Inter-departmental coordination is key to reducing the impact of disasters, and past experiences should guide preparedness measures. Speaking on the occasion, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. Srinivas Rao stressed the importance of understanding the Disaster Management Act, 2005. He noted that while there are no major industries in the district that pose geo-environmental risks, changing climatic patterns and rains can still trigger disasters. The SP warned that houses in dilapidated conditions are at risk of collapsing during heavy rains, necessitating immediate responses. He emphasized the need for control rooms at district and mandal levels. Departments like Revenue, Police, Irrigation, Fire, and Electricity must stay alert 24/7. He also mentioned that fishermen with swimming expertise (rescue divers) should be kept ready in case of increased water flow due to heavy rains. The police department, he said, will deploy skilled young officers and work in coordination with all other departments to ensure effective disaster response. The meeting was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshmi Narayana and Narsinga Rao, RDO Alivelu, officials from various departments, Tahsildars, MPDOs, and Municipal Commissioners.

New Geethanjali School in Aiza Compared to Cattle Shed: BRSV Demands Immediate Closure and Action Against Officials

Gadwal: In a strong statement against the management of a private school operating in Aiza Mandal headquarters of Alampur Constituency, BRSV State Leader and District Coordinator Mr. Kuruvu Pallayya has demanded that the recognition of New Geethanjali High School be revoked immediately. After a recent visit to the school premises, Mr. Pallayya harshly criticized the condition of the classrooms and overall infrastructure, comparing it to that of a "cattle shed" rather than an educational institution. He noted several violations of educational norms, government guidelines, and safety protocols. Key Observations and Allegations by BRSV Leaders: Unhygienic and Unsafe Classrooms: Classrooms were found to be extremely dirty and poorly maintained. Students are allegedly made to sit next to bathrooms, raising serious concerns over sanitation and child welfare. Violation of RTE Norms: The school lacks proper classrooms, sanitation certificates, traffic safety certifications, and fire safety measures—all of which are mandatory under the Right to Education Act. Unregulated School Operations: The school is allegedly operating from temporary, unsafe structures resembling cattle sheds, with no basic amenities such as drinking water, taps for washing, or functional toilets. Commercial Exploitation of Parents: The school management is reportedly exploiting poor parents by forcing them to buy notebooks, textbooks, uniforms, ties, and belts at high prices, running into lakhs of rupees. Health Hazards to Children: Students are said to eat and study in the same dusty, unclean classrooms, with no designated play area or hygienic dining space. Sitting on dusty floors has reportedly caused dust allergies and other health issues among the children. Fire Safety Risk: The absence of fire safety systems poses a serious risk of major accidents. In case of fire or emergency, there is no mechanism to protect the children. Demands Made by BRSV Leadership: 1. Immediate cancellation of recognition for New Geethanjali High School. 2. Strict legal action against school administrator Venkatesh, for operating the school in violation of laws and exploiting parents. 3. Suspension of the Mandal Education Officer (MEO) for allegedly colluding with the private school management and failing to conduct proper inspections. 4. Thorough inquiry into how the school was allowed to run for years without basic infrastructure or legal compliance. Leaders Participated in the Protest: Alongside Mr. Kuruvu Pallayya, the protest was attended by former BRSV Town President Veeresh, along with Raju, Naresh, and other local activists. This incident highlights growing concerns over unregulated private educational institutions in rural areas, where poor families are often left with no choice but to send their children to such schools due to lack of government infrastructure. Activists have urged the District Education Officer (DEO) and Collector to take immediate action to ensure children's safety and protect the integrity of the education system. Further investigations are awaited.

Former MLA Bharat Simha Reddy Demands High Court Probe into Rayalampadu Reservoir Irregularities, Slams Government for False Promises

Gadwal: Former MLA D.K. Bharat Simha Reddy has come down heavily on the state government and the Irrigation Department, accusing them of continuously misleading the public with false promises regarding the Rayalampadu Reservoir repairs. Speaking after visiting both the Jurala Project and Rayalampadu Reservoir, he lambasted authorities for what he described as repeated lies and hollow assurances. 'Stop Camouflaging Lies as Promises,' Says Former MLA Referring to the ongoing delay in repairs to the Rayalampadu Reservoir, Bharat Simha Reddy accused the state government of attempting to "polish lies and pass them off as ripe fruit," a Telugu idiom ("మసిబూసి మారేడు కాయ") suggesting superficial fixes with no real substance. He particularly targeted Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, saying: 'When the Gattu Lift Review Meeting was held, the minister promised immediate repairs to the reservoir. Yet six months later, he visited again only to make the same empty promises. The public is tired of these repeated fabrications.' Design Capacity Ignored – Danger in Increasing Storage Highlighting a critical design flaw, the former MLA said: 'Rayalampadu Reservoir was originally designed to store only 2 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water. Now, they're talking about holding up to 4 TMC, which is unsafe without changing the existing bund. If they truly want to prevent future disasters, the bund must be rebuilt, and the structure reinforced.' He claimed that previous complaints regarding the safety of the reservoir and improper fund management were already submitted, but no action had been taken. "We Have a 300-Page Report — Prove Me Wrong and I'll Retire from Politics" Emphasizing the seriousness of the matter, Bharat Simha Reddy said: 'We have a 300-page report documenting all irregularities. If even one claim in that report is proven false, I am ready to retire from politics permanently. That's how confident we are in the facts.' He demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the construction and repair works at Rayalampadu Reservoir, expressing a lack of faith in government investigations. Allegations of Irregularities at Jurala Project Turning to the Jurala Project, Bharat Simha Reddy asserted that he had only spoken the truth: 'I did not speak to create panic; I spoke to expose the truth.' He raised several questions regarding operational inefficiencies: 'How can they claim silt has been removed if the lifts are not functioning?' 'Is it not true that Swapna Construction Company is being paid Rs. 4 crores annually despite doing no work?' 'Why haven't four gates been opened despite broken ropes?' He challenged the officials and ruling party leaders to come forward and clarify these points publicly. BJP Leaders Present During the Inspection Bharat Simha Reddy was accompanied by several senior BJP leaders, including: Bandala Venkata Ramulu (State Council Member) Rajaka Narasimha (District Vice President) Mirzapuram Ramachandra Reddy Sanjeev Bharadwaj Krishnam Raju Raghu Goud, among others. The presence of top BJP leadership at the site inspection indicates that the party may intensify its campaign on alleged corruption and inefficiency in Telangana's irrigation projects. Conclusion The strong words from the former MLA and his demand for a judicial probe add pressure on the state government to come clean about the Rayalampadu Reservoir and Jurala Project. As monsoon intensifies and water storage becomes a critical issue, all eyes will be on how the state responds to these serious allegations.
