'Snow White' (2025) 4K UHD Blu-Ray SteelBook Review - Rachel Zegler Gives Life To The Original Disney Princess
Disney's Snow White is a vibrant live-action musical reimagining of Walt Disney's groundbreaking full-length animated classic. Experience the timeless adventure as Snow White (Rachel Zegler) journeys into magical woods to escape her stepmother, the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot), and meets the beloved Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc who join her quest to restore the kingdom and bring kindness to the land. For in-depth thoughts on Snow White (2025), please see my colleague Lane Mills's review from its original theatrical release here. Video Quality The 4K UHD Blu-Ray of Snow White offers a lovely uptick in quality over the already pleasant accompanying Blu-Ray, offering a visual tapestry that thrives on the format. The expanded range of the color spectrum is quite a sight to behold. The Dolby Vision enriches the colors from beautiful to dazzling when it comes to vibrancy. From beginning to end, you are immersed in this world of bold and sumptuous colors in the costumes and production design. Even the shadowy corners of the cottage have a more nuanced look when it comes to the darkness. All of these elements are more vivid and finely delineated. The black levels are especially strong in this presentation, staying deep and inky with impeccable detail. The highlights in the film are more refined with whites more pure and balanced with no instances of blooming to be found. Skin tones appear to be a touch more natural with healthy doses of crisp detail apparent. The CGI throughout the film is rendered as seamlessly as can be with some unconvincing moments, but this is inherent to the source. This 4K UHD presentation really delivers on all fronts including strong gains in clarity and color. The Blu-Ray is nice, but Disney has delivered another first-rate transfer on this latest 4K release. Audio Quality This disc comes equipped with a wonderful Dolby Atmos presentation which brings as much excitement to this picture as you would hope. Sounds are deftly rendered with considerate directionality from the more bustling scenes to interpersonal exchanges. Ambient details are copious and quite satisfying in the rear and overhead channels. The overhead channels complement the other speakers rather than carry the main load, which opens up the sense of space in the mix. The songs are a very important part of the film's identity, and they saturate the room with great warmth. Dialogue is presented crisp and clear without ever being overwhelmed by any of the numerous competing sonic elements. The sounds of the world provide an all-encompassing soundscape that kicks in throughout all the speakers. The low end is engaged in key moments, but that is not the prize element of the experience. The soundscape delivers an expansive experience suitable for bringing this world to life. Disney has provided a top-tier listening experience for audiences. Optional English SDH, French, Spanish (Latin American and Castellano), and more subtitles are provided. Special Features Disney has provided Snow White with a sleek new SteelBook featuring artwork that is very cool in person. Photos of the SteelBook can be found at the bottom of this review. Fearless, Fair, Brave, and True – Making Snow White : A 12-minute documentary in which the cast and creative team discuss the challenge of adapting the story for a new generation, the legacy of the original film, finding the right cast members for these roles, the elaborate production design, and the creation of new songs for the feature. Merry Tunes: A ten-minute exploration of the songs in the film in which the cast and creative team discuss the function of the new song, the challenges of interpreting the classic songs for a new generation, what these tunes mean to them personally and more. Fairy Tale Fashion: A nine-minute piece that takes a closer look at the costumes in the film with a mixture of iconic looks and new adaptations to the world. Bloopers: A nearly three-minute collection of amusing moments, flubbed lines, joking around on set, laughing fits and more. Deleted Scenes: There are three scenes totaling two-and-a-half minutes of unused material including more material with the Queen speaking to the magic mirror and Snow White lost in the woods. Final Thoughts Snow White received a lot of hatred from the outside world long before the film ever debuted, and not for valid reasons like general disappointment in the trend of remaking anything and everything instead of creating new magic. Most of the hatred was directed at Rachel Zegler, which is unfortunate since she is easily one of the best things about this latest adaptation. She captures the easy grace of the character while delivering powerful vocals. At the same time, she is saddled with a generally ugly looking digital aesthetic that is hard to lose yourself in, not to mention a pretty stiff co-star and love interest. The new songs are somewhat catchy, but none of them strike you as being a new classic. The film fits comfortably in the middle of the output of Disney live-action reimaginings, but if you are tired of this creative path, this is not going to change your mind on them. Disney Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring a terrific A/V presentation and a decent assortment of special features in a fetching SteelBook. Snow White is currently available to purchase on 4K UHD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital. Note: Images presented in this review are not reflective of the image quality of the 4K UHD Blu-Ray. Disclaimer: Disney Home Entertainment has supplied a copy of this disc free of charge for review purposes. All opinions in this review are the honest reactions of the author.

Rachel Zegler addresses Snow White backlash for first time since movie bombed at box office
Actor Rachel Zegler has outlined the toll backlash over the live-action remake of Disney's Snow White had on her, saying therapy and anti-anxiety medication helped her get through it. In an interview with the British magazine i-D, Zegler said her psychiatrist reminded her that what she's going through "isn't normal". "That sentence did such wonders for me in multiple situations in my life," Zegler said. She described being medicated for anxiety as "truly a game changer". "And I wanted to function in a way that made me feel confident in the way I was moving through the world." Zegler told i-D entertainment editor Douglas Greenwood that she has chosen a positive mindset. "Happiness is absolutely a choice," she said. "And every day I wake up and I think I'm very lucky to live the life I live." Snow White starring Zegler in the title role and Gal Gadot as the evil queen earned just $US42.2 million ($64.9 million) at US cinemas when it opened in theatres in March. It ended up grossing $US205.6 million worldwide ($316 million). According to Forbes, it had a $US270 million ($415.3 million) production budget before advertising and publicity were taken into account. The film received negative reviews, but had been plagued with immense controversy prior to its release including racist backlash for the casting of an actor of Colombian descent in the titular role. The original 1812 collection of fairytales written in German by the Brothers Grimm includes the story of a princess whose skin was "as white as snow". Disney also faced criticism for using CGI to create seven "magical creatures" instead of potentially employing performers for the roles of the seven dwarfs. In a statement, Disney said they had consulted with members of the dwarfism community to avoid reinforcing stereotypes. Zegler also faced criticism and online trolling by suggesting the classic was outdated in its representations of male and female relationships. "The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so," she said in a red carpet interview with Extra TV in 2022. "There's a big focus on her love story with a guy that literally stalks her … weird, weird — so we aren't going to do that." She later apologised for those comments. She stands firm, however, on posting on X the day the Snow White trailer dropped: "and always remember, free palestine." According to Greenwood, Zegler spoke to i-D with "a bracelet, beaded the colours of the Palestinian flag, spelling out ceasefire". "My compassion has no boundaries, is really what it is," she said. "And my support for one cause does not denounce any others. "That's always been at the core of who I am as a person. "It's the way I was raised." While Zegler's activism has angered people on one side of the fence, pro-Palestinian advocates were also unhappy over the casting of Gadot, an Israeli actor and IDF supporter. Zegler said if speaking out leads to her downfall, there are "worse things". "There are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken, but nothing is worth innocent lives," she said.

A New Wonder Woman is in Development and Andor's Adria Arjona is at the Top of the Fancasts
Gal Gadot may have appeared in The Flash , but just like with Superman, it does look like DC is ready to reboot Wonder Woman as well. In a recent talk with Entertainment Weekly, DCU co-head James Gunn has confirmed that a new Wonder Woman movie 'is being written right now'. We don't have much details, but fans are already calling for a new WW to take Gadot's place. Interestingly enough, one top choice that seems to be championed online is that of Adria Arjona — (@BespinBulletin) June 10, 2025 My choice would be Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman — ໊ (@te_Neil_et) June 10, 2025 Even before the reboot announcement, Arjona has been a fancast that's been going around online. She was particularly popular thanks to the success of Disney+'s Andor where she plays the part of Bix. Of course, there are still other actresses that have been getting fancast online besides Arjona. One other star who may have a good chance is Ana de Armas who recently showed off her action chops in Ballerina . Some have also been pitching May Calamawy from the Moon Knight series. Personally, I was a fan of the Gadot casting for BvS , and Gadot really did bring a unique flavor to her Wonder Woman which really shone in the solo movie. It's just a shame that the sequel wasn't able to capture audiences like expected. I would personally love it if Gadot was able to make a third film, but seeing as how there's a dedicated bash network for her online, maybe DC may want to cast someone else. No release date has been set for the Wonder Woman reboot.

A new Wonder Woman movie is "being written right now," DC Studios boss James Gunn confirms, but no one has been cast yet
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's official: there's a new Wonder Woman movie in the works for James Gunn and Peter Safran's burgeoning DC Studios Universe, and it's looking a lot like the role will be completely recast. "We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now," Gunn tells Entertainment Weekly, while clarifying that "Wonder Woman is a separate thing" from the currently in-development Paradise Lost streaming series about the history of the Amazon island of Themiscyra. Gunn also confirmed to EW that no one has yet been cast as Wonder Woman, indicating that previous WW actor Gal Gadot is well and truly out. That's not a huge surprise, given that Patty Jenkins, director of the first two Wonder Woman films, previously confirmed that she's not moving forward with Wonder Woman 3. Gunn has been the leading creative voice in building the new DCU, having announced a whole slate of projects under the banner 'Gods and Monsters,' though many of the projects initially named for the slate have shifted in the time since. Now, Gunn is reiterating comments made by Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav indicating that the four main pillars of the new DC Universe will be Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman. "I think that's accurate, actually," Gunn confirms. "I think that he got that from something I said. I wouldn't say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us. Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we're dealing with the other two." Indeed, Gunn's Superman film is just weeks away from release, with Supergirl currently in production for 2026. Of all four characters, Batman seems to be the most embattled thanks to the uncertain status of The Batman 2, which exists outside the DCU, and a noticeable lack of updates on any kind of project tied to the new continuity. James Gunn's Superman hits theaters on July 11. For more, check out our list of all the upcoming DC movies and shows.
