Kilmarnock send trio out on loan after announcing cooperation agreement with League Two side Annan Athletic
All three made their debut for the Galabank side in last night's League Cup loss to Ayr United Kilmarnock have announced a cooperation agreement with League Two outfit Annan Athletic. As part of the move, three Killie yonugsters have joined the Galabank side on loan. Defender Duncan Barlow, midfielder Josh Gilmour and striker Zander Craik will all make the temporary move in a bid for regular first team football. The cooperation system has recently been launched as part of a new SFA and SPFL initiative aimed at boosting opportunities for young Scottish players. It provides greater flexibility to the previous domestic loan agreements, by allowing teams a maximum of three players who are eligible to represent the Scotland national teams, to join a lower-league club but also be able to move between the parent and cooperation club throughout the season to increase playing time. All three players have yet to make their senior Killie debuts but featured in last night's 6-1 Premier Sports Cup loss for Annan at home to Ayr United. Annan boss Wullie Gibson hailed the agreement, telling the club website: 'We're delighted to have joined Kilmarnock with this new loan scheme. 'I have a good relationship with the Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell who gave us Luca Ross last year when he was manager of Motherwell. 'I also have contacts from my time at Kilmarnock. Paul Di Giacomo a former team mate there has been a massive part of this cooperation agreement and would like to thank him. Hopefully this agreement will be good for both parties.' In a separate move, goalkeeper Corey Armour has joined League One side Kelty Hearts on loan for the season. The youngster impressed at Auchinleck Talbot last term and gets his first taste of SPFL action.

The Scottish League Two club say the pitch at their ground and the nearby MUGA (multi-use games arena) has been broken into "many times recently". Advertisement The club say a number of items have been damaged in the process. Annan say they have "clear footage and names" of those they say are responsible, and they plan to involve police. In a social media post about the break-ins, Annan said: "It is with regret that we have to be writing this post, but with the number of reoccurring break-ins happening at Galabank, something has to be done. 'Both the MUGA and the main pitch have been broken into over the past few weeks, with a number of items within the facility needing repaired at a cost to the club. 'We would like to state that we have CCTV covering all areas of Galabank and we have clear footage as well as names of all individuals that have been involved. Advertisement 'Information will be passed to community police officers for their information/attention.' Annan, meanwhile, were in action on the pitch on Tuesday in a pre-season friendly at Gretna 2008. Annan target packed ground for play-off final showdown
Annan Athletic fans have called for a packed Galabank tonight as they bid for Scottish League One survival. Wullie Gibson's side host East Fife in their play-off final second leg, trailing 3-2 at the tie's halfway mark. The televised showdown with Dick Campbell's side has seen the Annan Athletic Supporters' Club (AASC) do its bit to help fans be Gibson's 12th man. They are paying for each of their members' match tickets, having also covered the cost of the team's coach travel to the first leg. AASC chairman Ross Johnstone said: 'Everything's to play for and it should be a great atmosphere. We need to pack the ground. 'We know it's going to be tough. East Fife are strong and we're missing some key players, but fans can – and will – play their part in spurring the team on by being that proverbial 12th man. 'It will mean everything to fans, players and everyone involved in the club if we were to be successful in maintaining our League One status for another season, then try to build on that. 'We're under no illusion that it's been a hard season, with a lot of injuries to key players, but we're hopeful that we can get the job done. 'Our fans have been great. Paying for our members' tickets on Friday is our way of thanking them for the tremendous support they've shown, home and away. We know it's appreciated by Wullie, his players and everyone at the club.' Annan's 3-2 defeat at Bayview in the first leg saw red cards for Scott Hooper and Layton Bisland. They will be suspended along with player-boss Gibson, who is out of the play-offs through yellow card totting-up. East Fife boss Campbell was also sent from the touchline in the first leg. Annan reach play-off final on emotional day at Galabank
Annan Athletic made it safely into the Scottish League One play-off final on an emotional day at Galabank. Wullia Gibson's side, who are fighting to save their third-tier status, lost 2-1 at home to Elgin City but went through to the final 5-4 on aggregate. And before the game there were poignant scenes as the club remembered Kaye Kilsby, mum of defender Max, who was previously on Carlisle United's books. A minute's applause was held in Kaye's memory and Annan later announced: "Kaye was the mother of first team player Max Kilsby who sadly passed away this week. "Kaye, along with her husband Rob and their family, have followed Max proudly as he makes his way in the professional game and were ever present both home and away watching the Black and Golds. "Everyone at the club is devastated by her untimely passing and we would like to pass on our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to Rob, Max and all the family." Tommy Muir's first-minute goal at Galabank put the tie further from Elgin's reach after Wullie Gibson's side won the first leg 4-2. Elgin hit back with goals in either half from Ryan Sargent and Oliver McDonald. But Annan held onto their aggregate advantage and will now face East Fife in the two-legged final. East Fife claimed a 3-0 win over Edinburgh City in their second leg to go through 3-1 on aggregate. The side who finished second in Scottish League Two are hoping to overhaul League One's ninth-placed side in Annan to gain promotion to the third tier. The final's first leg at East Fife is this Tuesday at 7.30pm, with the second leg at Galabank on Friday, also at 7.30pm. Annan are hoping to avoid a return to the fourth tier after two seasons in League One. Peter Murphy's Queen of the South, meanwhile, saw their hopes of returning to the Championship dashed by Cove Rangers. After a 0-0 draw in the semi-final first leg at Palmerston Park, Paul Hartley's Cove claimed a 2-1 win over the Doonhamers on Saturday. Cove struck an early penalty through Mitch Megginson before Blair Yule put them further in control. Kai Kennedy pulled one back but Queens could not complete their fightback. Our season comes to an end as we suffer defeat in the second leg of the play-off semi-final.#CVRQOS | #League1 | #TheDoonhamers — Queen of the South (@OfficialQosFC) May 10, 2025 It means Cove go through to the final against Airdrieonians, who defeated Stenhousemuir 2-1 on Saturday and 5-2 on aggregate. Queens will now rebuild for another crack at promotion in 2025/26, having finished third in the table in Murphy's first season in charge.

Football club's fans raise £55,000 through new share scheme
Annan Athletic have already raised £55,000 as part of a new community share issue at the club. The Scottish League One club are aiming to inject up to £100,000 into the club and are delighted by the response from fans so far. Shares in blocks of £5,000 were made available three weeks ago. The initiative is aimed at bolstering the club on and off the pitch. Chairman Russell Brown has welcomed the response from supporters of the fan-owned Galabank club. He said: 'We are really pleased - and extremely grateful - for the way in which people have stepped forward so far to support us by buying community shares or expressing an interest in doing so. 'Our target for this initiative is ambitious and, clearly, the closer we can get to it, the better it is for our aim of strengthening the club's financial stability. 'But the most energising aspect of the past few weeks has actually been the way in which the share offer has got people talking and sharing ideas about the wider ways in which we can boost the club's finances and how they can be part of it.' Annan have extended the window in which shares can be bought, from March 22 to April 5. "This ties in with the tax year-end, with purchasers potentially able to take advantage of tax incentives linked to the shares," the club added in a statement. Other initiatives aimed at supporting the club include a sell-out evening with former Rangers star and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd at Galabank on March 28, and a race night on March 29 after Wullie Gibson's side take on Kelty Hearts. Brown added: 'Annan Athletic is playing at the highest level it ever has, but - like so many other clubs - we find ourselves in an incredibly challenging position financially. 'We're not hiding away from that. We need to be really innovative in response. "This share offer is just one of the ways in which we'll be looking to generate new funds in the weeks and months ahead. We are really thankful to our fans, and the wider community, for getting behind us.' Each community share investor is being granted life member status along with membership of a new Club 1942, named in honour of the year the Black-and-Golds were founded. Annan, who sit ninth in Scotland's third tier, go to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.
