Samsung Teases ‘Wildly Thin' Galaxy Z Fold 7 Before Launch
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 is the last of its kind. Photographer: SeongJoon Cho/Bloomberg While Samsung slashes the cost of its Galaxy S25 Ultra and raises trade-in prices to the highest levels I've ever seen, the Korean company is also preparing to launch its Galaxy Z Fold 7 by teasing its new design. Again. In an email to Samsung device users, the company has a selection of quotes from YouTuber Parker Burton, who has seemingly used the device ahead of launch. 'This is wildly thin,' Burton is quoted saying in the promotional email. Continuing 'When you have this thing folded, it's going to feel just like your regular phone.' It's not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to tease aspects of their phones ahead of launch to build hype. Samsung, in particular, has been increasingly loose with information about its products before they're officially announced. But the Korean company has taken this to another level with the Fold 7. We have already seen a silhouette of the device from all angles via Samsung's press team—confirming how slim the phone is—with the names of the devices included in the press image file. The company has also published press releases outlining what upgrades to expect from the Fold 7. 'For years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras, and new ways to connect and create.' One release read, hinting that the Fold 7 will have an improved camera and a bigger screen. The latter was confirmed to me by a Samsung executive earlier this month. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 Is A Reset Device For Samsung All of this tells me that Samsung sees the Fold 7 as a serious shift from what has come before. A reset, if you will, of the Fold series. The same criticisms pop up after every Fold launch. There's the tall, unusual, aspect ratio on its front screen, the average camera output (again, for a phone that costs as much as a good laptop), and the chunkiness. Samsung sees the new device as an answer to all of that and, as such, making it clear that the Fold 7 allays all of those fears. I'm sure the threat of companies that have made strides in slimming down their foldable phones, adding top-end cameras and bigger screens from the likes of Oppo, OnePlus and Google lit a fire under Samsung to make these design changes. We will have to see if the Fold 7 measures up to the competition and provides the reset the series clearly needs.

Mark your calendars: Samsung Galaxy Unpacked date leaks
Jonathan Feist / Android Authority TL;DR Last year Samsung introduced the Flip 6 and Fold 6 on July 10. For this year's launch, rumors have suggested Samsung could repeat that July 10 date. Now Evan Blass instead points to July 9 for the next Unpacked. Depending on how you count it, summer is either already upon us, or just about to start in the next few days (or you live in the Southern Hemisphere, granted). And for mobile tech fans, we know by now that summer means a fresh batch of new Samsung launches on their way. We've been hearing about the possibility of some July dates for Samsung's next Unpacked event, and now a new source weighs in with some specifics. Right now, we've got plenty of in-development Samsung hardware we're looking forward to. On the phone front, Samsung's been teasing its next wave of foldables, and beyond the Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7, we could also get to meet Samsung's first foldable built to be a little more affordable in the form of the Flip 7 FE. Then we've got Samsung's next wearables, with a new look for the Galaxy Watch 8 series expected to make its debut. We've also spotted evidence for some new Galaxy Buds models under development, and if those are ready to go, it would make all the sense in the world for Samsung to introduce them here. Last year Samsung threw its big summer launch on July 10, and that's a possibility once again. But so far we've only really heard that theory as bit of a vague 'doing the same thing' notion. Today, on the other hand, we're looking at a source who has some actual details. Noted leaker Evan Blass posts to X that Samsung will host its next Unpacked event on July 9, instead. Blass adds to that a 10AM Eastern start time, and while he doesn't share any visual assets to back that up, the extra detail does make it sound like this is less of a guess, and more something that might be based on actually seeing specific launch information. Of course, if any of these dates end up proving accurate, we'll likely know pretty soon, as Samsung tends to either confirm Unpacked plans itself in the weeks leading up to one, or we'd see formal invitations start leaking online. We might pencil in this July 9 date for the time being, but one way or the other, we should be writing down something in ink very soon. Got a tip? Talk to us! Samsung starts teasing a beefed up Galaxy Z Ultra foldable model
Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its new foldable flagships, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Fold 7. Both smartphones are expected to be introduced in the coming weeks, so it makes sense for the South Korean giant to start hyping its new lineup of foldables. The first teaser released by Samsung is a bit confusing because it refers to 'an Ultra experience,' which the company believes its fans have been asking for. The short post on its official website then talks about AI and its optimization for the foldable format, something that apparently, 'users have come to expect from Galaxy Ultra.' Up until now, all the leaks about Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones talked only about three models that the company will unveil this summer: Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 7 , and Galaxy Z Fold 7 . Nowhere is the 'Ultra' model mentioned in any of the leaks from reputable sources. It doesn't help that Samsung's post is quite confusing, not referring to the 'Ultra' as a different foldable that it plans to reveal along with the other refer. Or maybe there's no 'vanilla' Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung plans to name it 'Ultra' for some reason. Alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 | Image credit: Setsuna Digital via Weibo What actually gives it away is the email we received from Samsung that mentions a new 'ultra form factor.' Below is an excerpt from the email that feels a lot less confusing than the actual teaser: – Samsung, June 2025 Also, the animated image in the teaser clearly looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , not the Flip 7 , so it's probably safe to say that there will be a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra (or whatever Samsung decides to name it), and not a Flip 7 Ultra. If Samsung does indeed prepare to launch an additional foldable that's even better than the 'vanilla' Galaxy Z Fold 7 , then it's probably the best guarded secret in the company's recent history. Meanwhile, a new leak 'confirmed' the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be available in three colors and at least two storage choices. Samsung is rumored to unveil its new Galaxy Z foldables and Galaxy Watch smartwatches sometime in July, but a date has yet to be announced.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 tipped for early July launch, but leakers can't agree on the date
Ryan Whitwam / Android Authority TL;DR A leak suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 release timeline is the same as last year, indicating that it could launch on July 10, 2025. However, another leaker has disputed this date without providing any reason. As has happened with previous Galaxy Unpacked event date leaks, time zone differences could be a factor in the conflicting reports regarding the launch. We're gearing up for the launch of Samsung's next flagships, which will most likely come to us in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The company hasn't yet announced its plans for launching the devices, but we now have the first leaks pointing to an exact date. Mark your calendars, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could come on July 10, 2025, if you believe in this leak. According to noted leaker Ice Universe on Weibo, the Galaxy Fold 7's 'release time' is the 'same as last year.' Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024. So if the information from this leaker is correct, we could see the company launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on July 10, 2025. The leak doesn't directly address the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but we expect to see it at the same launch event. However, it seems the leak might not be correct. Another noted leaker, Max Jambor, disagreed with Ice Universe's leak on X, but did not offer more information. Ice Universe consequently deleted their X post, but their Weibo post still remains live. One possible explanation for this disagreement could be timezone differences. For the Galaxy S25 series, early leaks from South Korea mentioned a January 23 launch date, whereas Samsung launched the device on January 22, 2025, in San Francisco. Both dates are correct because of time zone differences between South Korea and San Francisco. Something similar could be happening here, too, which would explain why the post on Weibo (primarily intended for the Chinese audience) is still up, while the post on X (primarily intended for the Western audience) has been deleted, unless we are reading too much into the situation and it's something else entirely. Either way, we hope to learn more about the Galaxy Z Fold 7's launch date soon. We're keeping our fingers crossed for July 10, 2025. Got a tip? Talk to us!
