As it turns out, I may have been perfectly justified to doubt the S25 Edge's chances to achieve global box-office hit status , but at the same time, I'm starting to get what Samsung is doing here. No, I'm not saying I would ever consider buying a 6.7-inch smartphone with a gorgeous (and power-hungry) LTPO AMOLED 2X screen and an underwhelming (to say the least) 3,900mAh battery in tow, but next year'sEdge might be an entirely different story. To say that I've never been a big fan of the Galaxy S25 Edge would probably be the understatement of the year. No more room for legends: Galaxy S27 Ultra may drop the S Pen
Samsung removed the S Pen's Bluetooth features with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and not a lot of people liked that approach. Apart from removing features that apparently "nobody used", this decision also raised questions if the S Pen will continue to lose its importance for the S Ultra models in the future. Now, a new rumor indicates the Galaxy S27 Ultra may be the beginning of the end for the S Pen. According to this new rumor, the dedicated slot for the S Pen may be removed from the body of Samsung's 2027 flagship. The S Pen started its existence with the Galaxy Note series. When Samsung decided to discontinue the Note models, the S Pen moved into the Galaxy S Ultra, which became somewhat of a mix between a Note and an S flagship. The slot for the stylus remained in the Galaxy S Ultra model for years after that. Now, tipster @Jukanlosreve is sharing a prediction from an unnamed leaker from China, who reportedly has a solid track record. Presumably, a similar approach may be taken by the company for the Galaxy S27 Ultra and its S Pen. And maybe, not too long after that, the S Pen may be gone, if there aren't people interested in it anymore, I guess. The focus right now is on slim phones. And slim comes at a cost. For one, rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 missing the S Pen digitizer to become slimmer have circulated for months online now. It's still not confirmed, but to get a device as slim as possible, you have no choice at one point than to start removing things. Nevertheless, it's way too early to know for certain whether the Galaxy S27 Ultra will come with an S Pen or not. Samsung promises not to remove S Pen from future Galaxy S Ultras
The S Pen has become the top-tier accessory for people who like to draw and take notes on their phone, especially on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the future of the stylus has become a topic of debate lately, as it wasn't included in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition package. Fortunately, the company promised not to leave out the S Pen from future Galaxy S Ultra models. Annika Bizon, VP of Product and Marketing at Samsung's Mobile Experience in the UK, recently told TechRadar at MWC 2025 that Samsung Galaxy users don't need to worry about whether or not the S Pen will be included in future models. The stylus was left out of Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event showcasing the Galaxy S25 series back in January, but just because it was absent from recent marketing campaigns for the latest model doesn't mean it won't be a part of the upcoming Galaxy S Ultra phones. 'Multimodality is really important to us,' Bizon said. 'So [that's] how people use their phone – whether they're speaking, whether they're writing, whether they're in a meeting. People do use their S Pens in meetings to write notes. So, I don't see a space where the S Pen is not a key part of our portfolio.' If you're still doubting the S Pen will show up in future phones, Samsung is already considering including it in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, only it will reportedly ditch the digitizer element and implement the active electrostatic system (AES). That's same stylus input the Apple Pencil has. The S Pen also lost Bluetooth functionality with the release of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which means Air Actions and remote shutter capabilities, among other Bluetooth features, no longer work for the current model. However, you can still use the Air Commands menu and the Circle to Search feature.

Samsung's ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge might get a monster camera
This year, thin is in, for the smartphone industry. Oppo will soon drop the world's thinnest foldable phone in the market. Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Air continues to be a topic of hot speculation. Samsung, on the other hand, has already given a live demonstration of its Galaxy S25 Edge. Thankfully, it seems there won't be as many compromises as we initially expected for such a thin phone. According to a fresh leak that touts a 'confirmed' status for the hardware details, the sleek phone will come armed with a 200-megapixel rear camera. That's quite a fascinating choice, as camera sensors with such a high-megapixel count are usually reserved for the top-tier Galaxy S Ultra series phones. But more than the value debate, it's also quite an ambitious feat of engineering to fit a 200-megapixel sensor on the Galaxy S25 Edge. It won't be entirely shocking, however. A few months ago, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, its thinnest foldable phone yet. Despite its slimmer profile, the phone upgraded the main camera to a 200-megapixel sensor. It's also worth noting that, unlike the flat looks of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which also offers a 200-megapixel camera, there is a camera island bump on the Galaxy S25 Edge. Moreover, the camera lenses protrude atop that hump, so there's that accommodation. Oppo has also managed to fit a triple-rear camera array on its upcoming Find N5, complete with a periscope-style folded lens zoom system, despite the phone measuring barely over four millimeters in thickness when unfolded. Samsung hasn't shared any details about the upcoming phone, except for a hardware showcase at its Unpacked event. As per the latest leak, the Galaxy S25 Edge will employ an armor aluminum frame, while the display will be protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The screen is said to serve Samsung's adaptive refresh rate tech, adjusting its fluidity between 1-120Hz for a smooth and energy-efficient visual experience. A vapor chamber kit is reportedly fitted inside to manage heat dissipation, while battery top-up duties will be handled by 25W wired charging. Given the phone's metallic looks and its slim side profile, it doesn't appear that wireless charging will be part of the package. But Oppo has managed to deliver 50W wireless charging on the upcoming Find N5 foldable phone, so we just might get a pleasant surprise from Samsung later this year. On a side note, the Galaxy S25 Edge is not a value-centric or flagship phone that will set the specifications sheet on fire. Instead, it's more like a showcase for smartphone innovation and engineering acumen. Needless to say, temper your expectations fittingly.
