New iPhone Fold leak reveals cameras, but does it beat the Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR The foldable iPhone could receive a slightly smaller display than previously rumored. We're also learning about the foldable iPhone's dual 48MP rear cameras for the first time. The new leak once again cites the use of a specialized composite metal for the hinge and titanium for the premium iPhone's frame. Chatter around the foldable iPhone is gaining momentum, with Apple recently ordering flexible display panels for the premium foldable that is expected to arrive in 2026. Along with this development, rumors, including tentative specifications of the iPhone Fold, have also started to flow in. Reliable leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) shared fresh bits about the display on the iPhone Fold (or, whatever it may be officially called) and the cameras, indicating how the device could fare in comparison with other book-style foldables, especially the Galaxy Z Fold — the generation following the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — due in 2026. Consistent with previous rumors, the foldable iPhone's inner display is expected to have a 14.1:10 aspect ratio with a 2,713 x 1,920 pixels resolution. However, contrary to DCS' previous reports that indicated a 7.8-inch inner display, the latest rumor suggests a slightly smaller 7.58-inch panel for the foldable. If true, this would be noticeably smaller than the 8.2-inch display we expect to see on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. Apple also approaches a more rectangular layout, similar to iPad models, compared to the squarish design on foldables from brands such as Samsung, OPPO, HONOR, etc. The leaker also hints at dual 48MP cameras expected to be seen on the iPhone Fold, presumably, on the back side. The utility of each of these cameras and the resolutions of the two front-facing cameras — on the cover screen as well as the one rumored to be under the inner display — remain unclear. The iPhone 16 Pro also features two 48MP cameras, including the primary and ultrawide, alongside a 12MP periscope. We suspect Apple might ditch the periscope to save space on the Fold, though it's too early to comment on whether the 48MP sensors are the same as those on the iPhone 16 Pro or different. In comparison, Samsung is likely to deploy a 200MP camera on the upcoming Fold 7. DCS reiterates the existence of a mysterious 'amorphous metal glass composite' (from Google Translate) material, previously also referred to as a 'liquid metal,' that will be used in the hinge, along with titanium for the external frame. As per previous rumors, the foldable iPhone is set to have an introductory price between $2,000 and $2,500. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also recently stated that while the foldable is expected to launch in the second half of 2026, supposedly alongside the iPhone 18 series, this won't be an annual release, and Apple expects to sell the same model for multiple years, given its higher pricing compared to the candy bar iPhone models. However, Apple's contracted manufacturer, Foxconn, has yet to start producing prototypes. When it does in the coming months, we may see changes related to the iPhone Fold's specifications. Got a tip? Reserve Samsung's New Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 and Get a $50 Credit

Samsung's latest Galaxy Z foldable phones are soon to be unveiled at the company's upcoming Unpacked event, which takes place July 9. But you don't have to wait to lock in your next device; you can reserve one now at and earn a $50 Samsung credit. It's not yet clear just how many new phones we'll be getting -- will there be more than the usual two? -- but Samsung has been teasing Ultra-grade and slim foldable phones for this launch. Samsung Newsroom posts have pointed to a more "powerful camera" and "AI-powered tools," and have also noted that its "newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet." So, it's possible Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7 and then the Z Fold Ultra, or whatever it ends up calling these devices. But wait, there's more! There are also rumors surrounding a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE phone. Leaks show renders of the rumored device, which appears similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but it's possible the phone could swap out the Snapdragon chip for an Exynos processor to keep that price down. Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see what Samsung has up its sleeve. But if you're eager to get your hands on one of the latest devices, you can head to Samsung's site to reserve your future phone and score that $50 Samsung credit. You can also enter a sweepstakes for the chance to win an additional $5,000 credit. These offers are only available on and the Shop Samsung app. If you'd like to explore Samsung's other phone options, check out list of the best Samsung phones to buy right now.

Samsung's offering a $50 credit if you commit to preordering its upcoming Galaxy foldable

Samsung has announced an Unpacked event that's happening on Wednesday, July 9th at 10AM ET. Details are sparse, but it shared the tagline 'Ultra Unfolds,' which suggests we're about to learn a whole lot more about a premium foldable phone, and perhaps some other foldables. However, you don't have to wait for the keynote to unfold to mark yourself as interested, and Samsung is offering a free incentive if you follow through with buying it. By filling out a reservation form for the upcoming device, including your full name and e-mail address, you'll get a $50 credit to the Samsung store following your preorder and purchase of said device. Creating a reservation will set up an alert to ping you when preorders are ready, so you won't miss out. You can't apply this credit toward the smartphone you're purchasing, but can use it on anything else on Samsung's site in the future. Registering will also enter you into a sweepstakes to win a $5,000 Samsung gift card. As for what we expect to see at this Unpacked event, the announcement's graphic and tagline suggest there may be a thin foldable smartphone with the Ultra branding, a title that was previously reserved for its flagship S-series phones. A Samsung press release from earlier this month teased a foldable with a 'powerful camera,' which would address a complaint that Verge reviewer Allison Johnson had about the Galaxy Z Fold 6. That same press release featured an image titled 'Galaxy Z Fold 7 Z Flip 7 Pre tease,' which corroborates rumors from earlier this year that Samsung plans to launch multiple foldables. Samsung's Ultra foldable phone has an official release date, and it's really soon

If you've been waiting for Samsung to release its next bendy phones, your wait is almost over. Samsung is going to release its next folding phones in July 2025. This year, we're expecting an Ultra folding model for the first time, alongside regular refreshes in the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip line-up. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is happening on 9 July, which was previously leaked by Evleaks. The event's being held in-person in Brooklyn, New York for attendees. For anyone at home, they can tune into a livestream that goes live at 10am ET/3pm BST. Word is the new foldables will have upgraded cameras and some new AI software features. Samsung has also already confirmed the new devices will launch with One UI 8. Then there's the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which Samsung seems to be increasingly hinting at. Recent official announcements promise 'industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimised for the foldable format'. Whatever that means. While we're yet to get official confirmation on the names, I'd put money on them being called the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. We may also finally get eyes on Samsung's long-rumoured tri-fold foldable, supposedly dubbed the Galaxy G Fold. It's been teased and rumoured for a while now, and this could finally be the year it trots onto the stage. Play And let's not forget the wrists. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic are also expected to make an appearance, which will be the perfect companion to the latest Galaxy smartphones. Although, the Watch Ultra 2 might be keeping a low profile until 2026. Based on past launches, pricing is likely to sit in high-end flagship territory – we're talking north of $1700/£1749 for the Fold 7, and closer to $999/£1049 for the Flip 7. Either way, we'll find out when Samsung's Unpacked event takes place on 9 July.
