Man drives car at Police Scotland officer in attempted murder
POLICE are looking for a man who drove a car at an officer in an attempted murder in Dumfries. Just after midnight on Monday, officers were called to assist a member of the public on Herries Avenue. At around 1.20am, a silver Subaru Forester car was deliberately driven at a male officer who attended the scene. He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition. The car was later found abandoned near Catherine Field Road. The driver is described as male, of slim to medium build, with dark hair cut short at the sides. He was wearing a grey top, grey trousers and trainers. Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: 'Our thoughts are with the officer, his family and colleagues at this time. We will continue to offer them all the necessary support. 'This incident is being treated as attempted murder, and we will use all tools at our disposal to trace the person responsible. 'I am asking anyone who may have seen the Subaru driving around the area around that time on Monday and in the few days before the incident to get in touch. 'Similarly, anyone in the area at the time with dashcam footage should contact us.' Anyone with information should contact police on 101.

A 19-year-old man who was riding the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. No paramedics were injured in the collision. The road was shut for more than six hours and reopened around 8.45am. Cops are appealing for witnesses as enquiries remain ongoing. Sergeant Jim Dewar said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and everyone affected by this crash. 'Our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage from around the time to get in touch. 'If you can help please call 101, quoting reference 0324 of 28 July, 2025.' Elsewhere, a cop was mowed down in a horror murder bid as police have launched a manhunt for the driver.
