ASF case detected in Arunachal's Longding dist
Itanagar: A confirmed case of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported from Luaksim village in Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district, Kanubari mobile veterinary unit officer Dr Ganno Tayeng said on Wednesday.
The case has been detected after a blood sample for laboratory diagnostic to National Research Centre on Pig in Assam's Rani district returned positive, Dr Tayeng said, with the veterinary department in Longding issuing a public advisory to contain the spread of the virus.
In accordance with standard operating procedures of the state govt, Longding district veterinary officer, Dr Ojuli Moyong, declared a 1-km radius around Luaksim village as an infected zone, while denoting a 10-km radius, beyond the infected area, as a surveillance zone.
The department has also banned the movement of pigs and piglets from the infected and surveillance zones and has also suspended the sale and slaughter of pigs within the notified areas.
