Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office Collection Day 6: Scarlett Johansson's Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore Mark
New Delhi: Who said Dinosaurs can't draw audiences to theatres? Gareth Edwards' sci-fi action-adventure Jurassic World Rebirth hit theatres last week and is peforming well at the box office. What's Happening Jurassic World Rebirth crossed Rs 50 crore mark at the Indian box office on Wednesday. As of now, it has earned Rs 50.95 crore in India The film, which released on July 4 faced stiff competion from Anurag Basu's Metro... In Dino. Still it managed to earn more than double the earnings of the romantic musical, which stands at Rs 24.4 crore. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jurassic World Rebirth added Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday, marking its lowest single-day collection in India so far. The film's domestic earnings are largely driven by the English version. However, on Tuesday, when it collected Rs 4.5 crore across all languages, the Hindi dubbed version (Rs 2.05 crore) surpassed the English one (Rs 1.85 crore) for the first time in its five-day run. Background Jurassic World Rebirth also became the first Hollywood film to have a Hindi premiere at the iconic Raj Mandir theatre in Jaipur on Thursday, July 3. The Jurassic franchise has had a strong connection with Indian audiences for decades. Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park (1993), the first film in the seven-part series, was among the first Hollywood films to be dubbed in Hindi. The massive success of the film led to a long-running franchise including: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), and the latest, Jurassic World Rebirth. Scarlett Johansson leads the cast in Jurassic World Rebirth, taking over from her Marvel co-star Chris Pratt. Following its record-breaking global opening weekend of $318 million, the film has also helped Johansson become the highest-grossing lead actor in Hollywood history, surpassing Chris Pratt, Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L Jackson and Tom Hanks. Starting Friday, July 11, the film will face new competition at the Indian box office - primarily from James Gunn's superhero reboot Superman, starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan and also from the Hindi gangster drama Maalik, starring Rajkummar Rao and Pulkit Samrat. Co-produced by Universal Pictures and Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, Jurassic World Rebirth also stars Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey. The film is set in 2027 and follows a group of adventurous junkies who travel to a remote island to retrieve biomaterial from three rare dinosaur breeds to develop a new treatment for heart disease.

Jurassic World Rebirth box office collection day 4: Scarlett Johansson's sci-fi actioner crushes Kannappa in India; nears Rs 2,800 crore worldwide
Jurassic World Rebirth box office collection day 4: Following a string of mediocre films, the iconic Jurassic Park franchise has finally been rejuvenated, thanks to director Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth, which opened to more favourable responses than its recent predecessors. Interestingly, on its first Monday in theatres, the sci-fi thriller earned significantly more than several major recent Indian releases. In fact, it even outperformed Brad Pitt's F1, despite the latter opening to considerably better reviews. On Monday, Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey in the lead roles, recorded an India nett collection of Rs 4.1 crore, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, the Hollywood film's total domestic collection has reached Rs 43.1 crore in just four days. Although its Monday figure was 74.77 per cent lower than the Rs 16.25 crore it collected on Sunday, the movie still managed to pass the crucial first Monday test. Post Credits Scene | F1: Brad Pitt takes a page out of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan playbook, and tears it to shreds Notably, Jurassic World Rebirth's performance on the day was stronger than Vishnu Manchu's pan-Indian Telugu devotional film Kannappa, which featured cameo appearances by major stars like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal. On its first Monday in theatres, Kannappa earned just Rs 2.3 crore, despite debuting at Rs 9.35 crore, almost on par with Jurassic World Rebirth's Rs 9.25 crore opening-day nett in India. Comparing other recent first-Monday performances, the Scarlett Johansson-starrer also outdid major films like F1 (Rs 3.35 crore), Maa (Rs 2.5 crore) and Metro… In Dino (Rs 2.25 crore). During the day, Jurassic World Rebirth's English edition recorded an overall occupancy rate of 13.87 per cent. Although the morning shows began at 7.02 per cent, the figure steadily improved throughout the day, with the afternoon, evening and night screenings recording 13.03 per cent, 17.04 per cent and 18.37 per cent, respectively. According to Box Office Mojo, Jurassic World Rebirth's worldwide gross now stands at $322 million (Rs 2,765 crore), far ahead of F1's $293 million (Rs 2,515 crore). A standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which opened to poor reviews, Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh instalment in the eponymous franchise created by renowned author-screenwriter Michael Crichton. The first two instalments of the film series — Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) — were directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Gareth Edwards on directing Jurassic World Rebirth: 'We just had to go for broke'
With a CV that includes Monsters, Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and The Creator, British director Gareth Edwards' latest is Jurassic World Rebirth - a standalone dinosaur adventure that aims to recapture the spirit of Steven Spielberg's 1993 classic Jurassic Park. Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a covert ops specialist who is hired by a pharmaceutical company to bring a team to a no-go island where dinosaurs still roam. The goal? To get blood and tissue for planned heart drugs that could save millions. Jonathan Bailey is the conscience of the group as paleontologist Dr Henry Loomis; Rupert Friend plays smarmy suit Martin Krebs, and Mahershala Ali is Bennett's old comrade Duncan Kincaid. Sure enough, they should have gone in a bigger boat... Below, Edwards discusses the challenges and practicalities of making a blockbuster - and getting the chance to fulfil star Johansson's childhood dream. Harry Guerin: I remember when I talked to you about Godzilla and you said at the time, 'It was the hardest thing I've ever done.' Given that you've since made Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Creator, and now Jurassic World Rebirth, did this top them all in terms of difficulty? Gareth Edwards: It didn't, actually. I would love to sit here and go, 'Yeah, this was the absolute hardest.' It was really hard, but it was, like, an achievable difficulty. Probably the difference between this film and my other ones is that this was the first film that I entered and there was a screenplay that every single person in the room held hands and went, 'We want to do this. Don't touch it.' That made life a lot simpler. So then it was just about me not screwing up, really, and bring all the visual ideas and try and make it the best it could be. But the fact that you started filming this in June 2024 - that's phenomenal that you got it turned around so quickly. Yeah, my editor had put a quote on the edit suite, and it was Leonard Bernstein, I think, and it said, 'Art is when you have a plan and not quite enough time.' Our mantra was, like, 'It's good not to have enough time.' And it kind of became true. You have to go with your first instinct. You can't second guess yourself. Nothing can get in the way. No one's allowed put a barrier or hurdle to anything because it will derail the film. And so we just had to go for broke. Everyone went with their best first idea, including the actors, including everything. And even when we did the director's cut or whatever you want to call that and showed it to the studio, they were like, 'Ok, we've got until this long. You've basically got to finish it. Here's our thoughts. Go.' Looking back, it was actually a good scenario. There were definitely times... The honest truth: if there was a button that at any point you could just go and press this button and you'd get teleported out of this and there's no consequences, I would've pressed that button about three or four times during making it. And I would have done that on every film I've ever done. There's always points where you just go, 'I can't do this anymore.' Right? But now I look back, I'm kind of like, 'Oh, I think I might try and build into all my contracts that we have half the time you're supposed to have.' Because it actually... I think it's good. Was it really as simple as Steven Spielberg saying to you that Scarlett Johansson had always wanted to be in a Jurassic film? Was the casting that simple? There was this one day, the very, like, first day where everyone at the studio [was there] - the head of Universal and Steven Spielberg (executive producer) and Frank Marshall (producer) and everybody else. We were all there and everyone had all their thoughts on cast and there was all these photos and faces. All 'the usual suspects', everyone you can imagine. And you start to go, 'How are we going to resolve this? We've talked about everybody you could talk about.' And then Steven just goes, 'Well, if I don't cast Scarlett... If we don't cast Scarlett, she's going to kill me.' And we were like, 'What do you mean?' He goes, 'Well, Scarlett, I met with her.' And he starts telling his story about how they met and she loves Jurassic and really wants to be in it. I was just listening to this going, 'Hang on, why are we doing this meeting?! That's great! If Scarlett wants to do it, why don't we just offer it to her?' Everyone was just like, 'Yeah!' It was a really simple solution and we just left that meeting and I was like, 'I hope they call her. I hope that wasn't just, like, a conversation that was happening at the end there.' And then they did. And then I heard she was reading the script. And then the next thing it was all go. Channelling her inner Ripley. I think the thing about that movie (Sigourney Weaver in Alien) is that I heard that they wrote that script and it was a guy. Like, it wasn't necessarily a girl. They just wrote characters and then at one point just said, 'We'll make that one female.' Right? They just flipped it. Because it wasn't written as a female [character], it wasn't, like, having all the tropes and what men think women should behave like in a movie. I think it was a really solid bit of great character. And so for this, we didn't have that approach - Zora (Scarlett Johansson's character) was always a woman - but we did remove any sort of love triangle kind of vibe. You win the girl is kind of like the classic thing that happens in these movies. And Scarlett was very keen not to do a film like that as well. So I feel like it just became about these three people - one happened to be a woman, right? - and this kind of triangle that was more about genuine relationships. That became super interesting. There's a lot of - including the original Jurassic Park and a film with a shark in it - there's a lot of great examples of triangular dynamics. David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay, was a big fan of those. Obviously, he wrote the original Jurassic, but he was a big fan of Jaws and stuff. You can really feel that, I thought, in the script.

Jurassic World Rebirth leaves fans with clenched stomachs as tense film debuts
After pretty bruising reviews of Jurassic World Rebirth from the critics, fans have praised the new film for never having a dull moment. With critical responses totted up on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes it's currently sitting at a rotten rating of 51% from 240 professional reactions. While this is far from ideal for filmmaker Gareth Edwards' seventh feature-length entry in the franchise, it is not a series low point. Audiences have also polled significantly better, with their reactions totting up to a very healthy 72% since the movie was released on Wednesday, already grabbing $30.5million (£22.3m) at the box office on day one. 'My stomach is still clenched after leaving the theatre. Edge of your seat kind of action. 10/10. The actors did a great job. Scarlett and Jonathan are incredible per usual,' wrote Anastasia S, while cinemagoer David agreed, adding: 'Starts out on the edge of your seat. Not a dull moment. Has a great plot. Probably one of the best ones.' Justin P also insisted in his audience reaction on Rotten Tomatoes that Jurassic World Rebirth was 'easily in the top 3 Jurassic movies'. 'It was back to basics: just stranded on an island, trying to survive. Most important thing of all: the dinosaurs are scary again!!' he enthused, next to a five-star rating. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Other fans also praised the movie for delivering what people would want from a film in this popular series, as Josiah shared: 'Great cinematography and dinosaur mayhem. Exactly what you've come to expect from a Jurassic World movie.' 'Jurassic World Rebirth delivers exactly what fans of the franchise crave: a fun, popcorn-munching good time,' Andre S insisted. 'The action sequences are genuinely tense, keeping you on the edge of your seat, and the characters are well-developed, making their perilous journey all the more engaging. It's a solid, enjoyable entry that reminds us why we love the world of dinosaurs.' Nick chimed in to say he could 'see a lot of hate for this online and don't understand [why]'. 'It was everything it needed to be. It didn't want to be over the top and better then the originals,' he suggested. Not everyone was impressed however, with Andrew labelling it 'a disgrace to the series' and Michael calling it 'absolutely unacceptable' in brutally brief takedowns. 'Disappointment is an understatement. I saw the homages to the original, they didn't hit right. A sloppy mess of jump scares and absurd attempts at comedic breaks,' complained Cindy Loo. Starring Scarlett Johansson as former military operative Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as bespectacled palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis, Rupert Friend as pharmaceutical rep Martin Krebs and Mahershala Ali as team leader Duncan Kincaid, Jurassic World Rebirth starts afresh, 32 years after dinosaurs were brought back when public interest is waning. This rag-tag group braves the forbidden isolated equatorial regions where dinosaurs still roam freely on a secret mission to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures in the hopes of a major medical breakthrough. But in the wreckage of the park and previous human experiments, life has also continued to find a way in unexpected forms too. 'How can a movie about mutant dinosaurs be this forgettable to look at? It's a shame,' wrote critic Danny Leigh for the Financial Times, also describing the movie as 'a lumbering beast'. 'The Jurassic sequels were bad enough when they made an effort to evolve – they're even less worth seeing now that they already come pre-fossilised,' added Indie Wire's David Ehrlich, while The Cinematic Reel's review suggested: 'If this is the franchise's big reset, maybe it's time Universal finally let the dinosaurs and the Jurassic Park franchise go extinct. Caryn James for the BBC observed in her two-star review: 'Jurassic World Rebirth has major stars in Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, and better-designed creatures than ever, but so few thrills that it may be the weakest of the Jurassic franchise.' However, other critics were much more positive. For The Independent, Clarisse Loughery insisted that Rebirth 'is making the dinosaur cool again', while Peter Bradshaw for The Guardian wrote in his four-star review: 'Now, against all odds, these dinosaurs have had a brand refresh: a brighter, breezier, funnier, incomparably better acted and better written film.' The Telegraph's Tim Robey went even further, awarding a full five stars and adding: 'It's easily the best-looking, best-sounding film since the first. But it takes a deep, personal love of the medium for a director to deliver such crunchy impact, thrills, spills and euphoric highs. These more positive professional reactions have saved Jurassic World Rebirth from ranking as poorly as some of its predecessors. Kicking off with the original Jurassic Park back in 1993 – which revolutionised how dinosaurs are viewed in popular culture as well as being a roaring good time – it was legendary Steven Spielberg who was initially at the helm as the director, returning for sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Unsurprisingly this first outing boasts an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, although the sequel plunges down to 56%. This initial trilogy was capped off with Jurassic Park III in 2001 before a second trilogy began with a fresh cast in 2015 with Jurassic World. More Trending While this reboot earned 72%, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World Dominion followed in 2018 and 2022, respectively, and received the lowest ratings of all at just 47% and then 29%. From fans, Jurassic World Dominion, the last release, has a surprisingly strong 78% score from over 10,000 audience ratings, but Fallen Kingdom has just 48% and Jurassic Park III, 37%.
