Kate Middleton's Wimbledon bow brooch has very special meaning
The Princess of Wales has delighted royal fans by making a surprise appearance at the Wimbledon ladies' singles final - and she looked picture perfect in all cream ensemble accessorised with a very special broach Princess Kate was all smiles as she arrived at Wimbledon for the ladies' singles final between US player Amanda Anisimova and Poland's Iga Swiatek where as Patron, she is given the honour of handing out the trophies. The future Queen was a vision in a delicate light cream ensemble, which featured a chic self-belted short-sleeved shirt with fabric buttons, four pockets, and a sweet high collar, and a matching pleated midi skirt that fell in an ever-fashionable A-line. Whilst the mum-of-three opted for mostly matching accessories - a stunning top handle bag and stylish high-heeled pumps - she also wore one colourful item that royal fans will know she opts for each and every year when she attends the grand slam: a purple and green check bow brooch. Not only did it provide a sweet splash of colour to her minimalist and timeless look, but it also has an extra special, sentimental meaning behind it. When Kate became the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, back in 2016, when she took over the position from the Duke of Kent, the late Queen Elizabeth gifted her with the sweet brooch - and she always wears it when she attends the championship, not only as a nod to her role, but also it serves as a touching reminder for the public of the close bond she shared with her late grandmother-in-law. Kate's a big believer in the healing power of sport, and she regularly works to promote through her official engagements organisations that get people - particularly children - moving, and says that it helps develop vital skills like resilience and the ability to work in a team. The future Queen is also patron of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the Rugby Football League, Rugby Football Union, and SportsAid - amongst others. She's also known to be more than a little bit competitive when she gets the chance to take part in a sporting engagement as part of her royal duties, particularly if she is presented the opportunity to go head to head with her husband, Prince William. From sailing races to besting each other on stationary bikes - the couple always seem thrilled to take on a physical challenge and prove who is boss. After missing Royal Ascot last month - something that she was said to be disappointed to miss, but came after a series of high-profile engagements like Trooping the Colour and Garter Day, the ladies' singles final is the first time Kate's appeared solo publicly since. However, the future Queen did take part in the recent State Visit that saw the French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte come to the UK and treated to a lavish state dinner.

Kate Middleton returns to Wimbledon in signature white
The Princess of Wales made a graceful return to Wimbledon this Saturday, July 12, attending the ladies' singles final at the All England Club in London. It marked one of her first major public outings since announcing her remission from cancer earlier this year. Kate Middleton, 43, arrived in a crisp, all-white ensemble, a short-sleeved tailored top cinched at the waist, paired with a flowing pleated midi skirt. She accessorized with neutral heels, a structured straw handbag, and a signature purple-and-green pin that symbolizes her patronage of the prestigious tennis club. The look echoed the polished, minimalist style she's favoured for recent engagements, reflecting a consistent fashion pattern of structured separates in muted tones. Royal watchers noted that the outfit bore similarities to her Wimbledon appearance in 2023, though this time styled with softer detailing and updated accessories. Her presence also carried symbolic weight. Just hours earlier, Kensington Palace confirmed her attendance, noting her ongoing commitment as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The announcement reassured the public of Kate's gradual return to royal duties following her private health battle. Since May, the princess has appeared at select events including the U.K.'s VE Day concert and the Garter Day service. Each time, she's repeated a variation of this refined fashion formula, a nod to both sustainability and her streamlined public image. Her return to Wimbledon, one of her favourite summer traditions, signals a hopeful and stylish chapter ahead.

How Prince William's ‘firm' decisiveness will change future of the monarchy — and who he'll banish
As the modernization of the monarchy continues to be at the forefront of Prince William's mind, the royal has one thing under his sleeve that will ensure a successful reign: decisiveness. The Prince of Wales, 43, has been planning his ascension to the throne since becoming heir following his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022. The future king, who has long championed a leaner monarchy, is reportedly crafting his own blueprint for the next generation of working royals. 5 Prince William is a 'shrewd operator,' according to a royal photographer. Getty Images And according to royal photographer Helena Chard, the prince has a strict rule of thumb for troublesome members of the Firm from here on out. 'Anyone who poses a threat to the monarchy is banished,' Chard told Fox News. 'Prince William is a shrewd operator and stands firm in his decisions.' Case in point, William has reportedly decided that his scandal-scarred uncle, Prince Andrew, will not be returning as a working member of the royal family once he becomes king. The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly see the disgraced Duke of York, 65, as a 'threat' to the Firm. 5 The future king, who has long championed a leaner monarchy, is reportedly crafting his own blueprint for the next generation of working royals. / What's more, William even refuses to explore the premise of allowing him to return to public-facing duties. 'He is committed and determined to do his best for the future of the monarchy. And his mind is made up,' Chard told the outlet. 'His scandalous uncle is viewed as a black cloud. Future public royal duties are off the cards. If allowed, Andrew will likely bring further reputational damage to the monarchy at a time when the royal ship needs a careful steer.' 5 Prince Andrew will not be returning as a working member of the royal family under Prince William's reign, according to insiders. 5 While Charles is by no means happy with Andrew and his frequent messy conquests, the King has reportedly given up trying to evict him from the Royal Lodge. The current monarch, King Charles, has taken on a similar — yet more relaxed — approach to his brother. Kate, Anne, Sophie & the Queen All Wore *This* Jewelry Trend for Garter Day
It may not be a tiara-worthy occasion, but Garter Day—which takes place annually at Windsor Castle and is more formally known as the Order of the Garter service—is still a major event for the royals, which means sparkly jewelry is required. Still, we weren't expecting all the Windsor women (Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, Duchess Sophie, even Princess Anne) to mirror each other with a simple and consistent aesthetic: the case of Queen Camilla, she replicated the earrings she wore on Saturday for Trooping the Colour—a pair of pearl and diamond clip-ons that are thought to be one of her favorites, according to the Court Jeweller. (She also wore a four-strand pearl choker necklace, also seen at Trooping and another one of her beloved go-tos.)Then, there was Kate Middleton, who unexpectedly—and happily—appeared by Prince William's side after taking last year off to prioritize her health. William took part in the processional today, while Kate met him at St. George's Chapel in a copycat look, not from Trooping the Colour, but rather the 80th anniversary celebrations of VE Day, which took place in May. The Princess of Wales once again re-wore her white Self-Portrait dress along with a couple of costume jewelry pieces that are vintage (pearl earrings, but also her five-strand pearl necklace) from London-based designer, Susan there was Duchess Sophie, who was a vision in ballet pink. Once again, there was a pearl combo—her earrings, which also feature diamonds, but also her necklace (a pearl drop pendant). Finally, Princess Anne. The sister of the king, she is known for her commitment to royal business as usual—not to mention her work ethic. (Hardest working royal is often the phrase most assigned to Anne.) Even she donned an understated set of pearl and diamond earrings, rounding out the royal what gives? Why the royal alignment—or is it simply a case of pearls being so classic and timeless that everyone reaches for them for a formal occasion such as this? In the case of Camilla and Anne, they've worn their pearl and diamond selections to Garter Day before. (Just peep these pics from 2022.) But pearls are also steeped in royal tradition. Queen Elizabeth II famously loved them and made a three-strand pearl necklace part of her signature royal 'uniform'—so rarely was she seen without them. Per the Gem Society, pearls are also long associated with good fortune and wisdom, a natural connection to the proceedings of today. Or maybe everyone just texted each other to coordinate. Either way, the royal jewelry trend was clear. Want all the latest entertainment news sent right to your inbox? Princess Kate attends hidden royal engagement after pulling out of Royal Ascot
It was over a week ago that the Princess of Wales pulled out of attending Royal Ascot - but now it has emerged that she has quietly returned to work The Princess of Wales has quietly returned to work after pulling out of Royal Ascot. Confusion was sparked last week when it was announced that Kate, who is in remission from cancer, would not be attending the second day of the horse racing festival. It came after her name originally appeared on the official list of those taking part in a carriage procession alongside her husband Prince William as well as the King and Queen. When it was confirmed that she would not be attending, sources said she is still trying to find the right balance following her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment. And although she has not appeared in public since then, it has emerged that she has carried out an engagement behind closed doors. According to the Court Circular, the record of official royal engagements, she and William met with philanthropist Melinda French Gates, the former wife of Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, at Windsor Castle yesterday. Ms French Gates is the owner of Pivotal Ventures, a company that aims to promote female power and influence and also is the co-founder of the Gates Foundation. No photos from the meeting have been released. The meeting came after William had held an investiture ceremony yesterday where among those receiving their awards were the former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate, who picked up his knighthood. It comes after a royal source reiterated that Kensington Palace has consistently stressed the need for 'flexibility' around the Princess of Wales ' public engagements. They added that the princess completed three engagements in the week leading up to Royal Ascot, attending the new V&A East Storeroom exhibition space in London, the King's official birthday celebrations at Trooping the Colour and Garter Day in Windsor. It is not clear when the princess took the decision not to join the royals at the races, but fans had been hoping to see Kate as William was one of the figures awarding prizes during the second day of the meeting. She was named among the guests joining King Charles and Queen Camilla in the traditional carriage procession, but a revised list was quickly issued after Kensington Palace confirmed she would not be attending. Kate announced in January she was now in remission and focussed on healing, while the King is still undergoing weekly treatment for the disease. Before she made her first public appearance after her diagnosis at Trooping the Colour last year, she revealed how she was "taking each day as it comes". Speaking at the time, she said: "As anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty." In September when her chemotherapy treatment ended, Kate described in an emotional video message how the previous nine months had been "incredibly tough for us as a family" and "doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus". William later said in a separate interview that 2024 had been a 'brutal' year. The princess' measured return to royal duties was welcomed by Queen Elizabeth II's former communications secretary Ailsa Anderson. Speaking before Kate's withdrawal from Royal Ascot, she told People magazine: "She's being sensible, listening to what her body is telling her and easing back into public life."
