Police hunt dog walker after man, 72, assaulted in Inverness
Police are searching for a dog walker after a 72-year-old man was assaulted in Inverness. The incident happened in a wooded area of Merkinch Nature Reserve between 16:00 and 17:00 on man was treated at the city's Raigmore Hospital before being said they wanted to trace a man, described as 35 to 40 years old, about 5ft 8in tall and of stocky build. He spoke with a local accent and was walking a medium-sized dog. Det Con Gary Hines said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or observed a man matching this description in the area at the time, to contact us."Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101.

He was walking on the path which leads from the junction of Carnarc Crescent and Kessock Avenue to the nearby railway crossing inside the reserve. After the attack the OAP made his way to the city's Raigmore Hospital. He has since been discharged. Detectives are now hunting the brute who attacked the old man. The attacker is described as being white, around 35-40 years-old, around 5ft 8 in height and of stocky build, with short brown hair. He was wearing dark clothing, spoke with a local accent and was with a medium-sized dog. Cops probing the attack have appealed for information to help track down the suspect. They are keen to speak with anyone who may have been in the nature reserve at the time of the attack. CID officers also asked anyone who may have seen a man matching the description in the area.
