Gautham Ram Karthik's sci-fi film titled ‘Root'; Aparshakti Khurana to make his Tamil debut
We had previously reported that Tamil actor Gautham Ram Karthik will star in a sci-fi crime thriller directed by Sooriyaprathap S. Now, on Wednesday (July 2), the makers have announced that the film's been titled Root – Running Out of Time. Further, the makers announced that Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana will make his Tamil debut with the upcoming film, which stars Bhavya Trikha as the female lead. Root was officially launched with a traditional pooja ceremony on Wednesday in Chennai. Details regarding the plot remain unknown. Sooriyaprathap S, from the show Naalaiya Iyakkunar season 1, previously worked as an associate director on superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. The film will have cinematography from Arjun Raja while John Abraham has been roped in as the editor. Vithushanan is the music composer. Bhavna Govardan leads the production design department while the action choreography will be done by Miracle Michael. Santhakumar of Hocus Pocus Studios heads the VFX department. Gautham Ram Karthik's next to be a sci-fi thriller
Actor Gautham Ram Karthik has signed his next film, a sci-fi thriller directed by debutant filmmaker Sooriyaprathap, who has previously worked as an associate director on Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. He has showcased his talent on the hit reality show Naalaiya Iyakkunar season 1 which set the ground for several new-age directors to hone their skills. According to the makers, the upcoming film will see Gautham playing the role of a police officer. In a statement, Verus Productions, which is backing the film said, "When Sooriyaprathap narrated this script, I immediately sensed his ability to connect with audience emotions, and I am confident that this film will translate beautifully on screen. Gautham Ram Karthik, with his versatility across genres and roles: from enjoyable to intense ones, has always stood out. He plays a police officer in this film, and I believe it will be a landmark project in his career and for all of us involved."

The untitled film, a sci-fi crime thriller, will be directed by Sooriyaprathap S. Sooriyaprathap S, from the show Naalaiya Iyakkunar season 1, previously worked as an associate director on superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth.
