JAZAN: Land patrols of the Saudi Border Guard in the Al-Dayer area of Jazan Province have arrested 10 Ethiopian violators of the law for smuggling 200 kg of the narcotic plant qat. Initial legal procedures have been completed against the offenders. Authorities also foiled the smuggling of 11 kg of hashish in Al-Aridhah Governorate in Jazan. The confiscated items were handed over to the competent authority. Elsewhere, authorities in Eastern Province arrested a resident of Egyptian nationality for promoting hashish. He was detained, legal procedures taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority. Security authorities urge citizens and residents to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking activities by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom's regions, or by contacting the General Directorate of Narcotics Control on 995, or via email.

JEDDAH: Saudi authorities have made numerous drug-related arrests throughout the Kingdom recently, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday. The General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested a Yemeni resident in Jeddah for attempting to sell 194,000 amphetamine pills. Security patrols in Jazan thwarted two smuggling attempts involving 213 kg of qat in Al-Aridah governorate, while in Fifa governorate, 51 kg of qat were seized. Border Guard patrols in Jazan's Al-Dayer sector arrested seven Yemenis for smuggling 140 kg of qat. In Asir's Al-Raboah sector, patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle 19 kg of hashish and arrested three Ethiopians with 75 kg of qat. Preliminary legal procedures were completed in all cases, and all seized items were handed to the relevant authorities. Authorities urged the public to report drug activity by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 elsewhere. Authorities thwart smuggling attempt through Jeddah Islamic Port

RIYADH: The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,719,806 amphetamine pills through Jeddah Islamic Port. The pills were found hidden in equipment sent to the Kingdom through the port. ​​​The authority's spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi said that a shipment containing a grinder arrived through Jeddah Islamic port. Upon undergoing customs procedures and inspection using security technology and live detection methods, the pills were found hidden inside the shipment. Al-Harbi said that the authority then coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control and the intended recipient of the shipment was arrested. He added that the authority continues to strengthen customs oversight on the Kingdom's imports and exports, with the aim of safeguarding society and protecting it from harm.
