Saudi Arabia launches visa extension initiative to mark start of Hijri New Year
Saudi Arabia has introduced a new initiative to mark the beginning of the Hijri New Year, allowing holders of expired visit visas — of all types — a 30-day window to leave the country legally. According to the Kingdom's General Directorate of Passports, the extension, which will be available for a period of 30 days, will start from 1/1/1447 AH (June 27, 2025). The move is aimed at facilitating final departure for individuals whose visit visas have expired. Over 1.1mln pilgrims land in Saudi Arabia as preparations are in full swing for Hajj
The General Directorate of Passports announced that a total of 1,102,469 pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia from abroad through the Kingdom's air, land, and sea entry points by the end of Monday, May 26.
