Stephen A. Smith Jabs at Cowboys WR George Pickens For Super Bowl Remarks
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys made a notable upgrade to their offense in the form of wide receiver George Pickens. As he begins this new chapter of his career, Stephen A. Smith clapped back at some choice remarks he made about the iconic franchise. Dallas went out and acquired Pickens following a rocky tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His past off-field issues don't seem to be a concern, as the Cowboys think he can be a massive upgrade to the roster. The veteran wideout also seems eager to put what happened behind him in an effort to change his perception around the league. Through his early days with the franchise, their partnership seems to be going well. Countless members of the team have praised his abilities and attitude, and he is happy with his change of scenery. While talking about being in Dallas now, he raved about the franchise's ties to the Super Bowl amid all their success in the 1990s. That's why they're so legendary, for that reason," Pickens said. "The Cowboys, like I said, are known for the Super Bowl. If they weren't known for that then no one would care about the Cowboys. They're known for that and then the camaraderie of the people give that same energy, because they also want to see it again." Stephen A., who is known for speaking out against the Cowboys, was one of many to react to Pickens' remarks. He sounded off on the star wideout, citing that his previous team has had far more success than Dallas. "Here's the deal," Smith said. "George Pickens do you have any idea when you talk about Super Bowl and the Cowboys you do understand that the Steelers are a more successful franchise. Did you know that? Do you understand what the he** you're saying...I'm sorry I got to call him out on that." George Pickens Gets Honest About Future With Cowboys
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Once the Dallas Cowboys acquired George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was apparent they could be landing a one-year rental. After the 2025 NFL season concludes, Pickens will be headed for free agency. Will he be a one-and-done in Dallas? Or will an extension come to life in due time? It's still too early to tell, but Pickens recently opened up on his contract situation as he prepares for his first full season with the Cowboys, and there is a desire from the young wide receiver to land something long-term from Dallas in the future. "Most definitely," Pickens told 105.3 The Fan, when asked if he sees the Cowboys as a long-term fit. #Cowboys George Pickens on 105.3 the Fan when asked if he can see Dallas as his permanent home. 'Most definitely.' When asked if it makes more sense to talk contract after the season: '…that's definitely what I want to focus on first…' (🎥: @1053thefan) — Brandon Loree (@Brandoniswrite) July 28, 2025 "I've watched the team for so long, and the camaraderie. I kind of understand the camaraderie more than I did in Pittsburgh. Even with what you guys do. The Cowboys, like I said, are known for the Super Bowl. If they weren't known for that then no one would care about the Cowboys. They're known for that and then the camaraderie of the people give that same energy, because they also want to see it again. I think I definitely understand it more here, the people more here than I did up there. Because I'm from the south. That's a whole another deal." Some players in Pickens' position might look to lock in that multi-year extension before entering the final year of their deal. In Pickens' case, he's focused on the upcoming season. The star wideout wants to contribute to a winning situation and expects that the major raise will come with the on-field success. "Money is all over the world. I definitely want to try to help them win, get a Super Bowl, and with the Cowboys being such a big brand that kind of seeps in, you see what I mean? If you just stick to the main thing is the main thing, keep it on the gridiron, how it used to be back in the day? We'll definitely do something special." Pickens left the Steelers after posting 900 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It was a down year, compared to his sophomore campaign, which included over 1,100 yards and five touchdowns. It was clear that relationships soured between Pickens and key members of the organization, which likely affected his performance. The young veteran hopes to find consistency with the Cowboys. He landed in Dallas with 48 games under his belt. Pickens caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns during his run with the Steelers. Former Steelers WR George Pickens lighting up Cowboys training camp
Of all the big moves the Pittsburgh Steelers made this offseason, the trade that sent wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys took us by surprise the most. After trading for wide receiver DK Metcalf and passing on a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL draft, we were excited to see the tandem of Metcalf and Pickens out there with Aaron Rodgers throwing them the football. Things didn't work out and now Pickens is in Dallas and forms one of the best tandems in the NFC with CeeDee Lamb. Meanwhile, the Steelers are sorting between Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods for their other starter. At the same time, Pickens is lighting up Cowboys camp and seems to make a huge play every practice. With how aggressive the Steelers have been this offseason to add talent, every move they make is going to be under the microscope. If Pickens has a breakout campaign and the Steelers' passing offense struggles, there will be plenty of second-guessing of the trade. The Steelers drafted Pickens in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Georgia. Pickens' talent was never in question but his maturity and work ethic were. The Steelers gave Pickens three seasons but he never seemed fully committed to playing in this offense. Steelers blasted by George Pickens at Cowboys training camp, says Dallas runs better plays
Former disgruntled Steelers WR George Pickens is back at it again — taking subtle jabs at his time in the Steel City. On Day 1 of Cowboys training camp, Pickens spoke to reporters during media availability — seemingly taking little shots at his former team along the way, including calling it a 'breath of fresh air' to be in Dallas over Pittsburgh. When Pickens was asked if he's excited to become more than just a 50/50, jump-ball type receiver in Dallas, Pittsburgh's former wideout took the opportunity to blast the Steelers' offensive play-calling: 'Yeah, I'm definitely excited to run better plays, for sure,' Pickens told reporters, via Joseph Hoyt. This wasn't the first shot Pickens has taken at his former team since leaving Pittsburgh — as he previously took to social media to call the Steelers the 'cheapest organization' days after being traded to the Cowboys. The criticisms surrounding Pittsburgh's offensive predictability and poor play-calling are nothing new — but there's hope that Arthur Smith can turn things around in his second year as the Steelers' offensive coordinator. The Dallas Cowboys will reach a training camp milestone when they take to the field Sunday afternoon: the first practice in pads. Until Sunday, the Cowboys have only been practicing in helmets, or no pads at all. Known as the Blue White Practice, it takes place a day after the Cowboys hold an opening ceremony for training camp at their Oxnard, Calif. facility. The practice will give fans their first glimpse at the team's revamped roster, which includes receiver George Pickens, a new backfield and seven new defensive players. The next big events during training camp will be a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and the first preseason game, also against the Rams, on Saturday, Aug. 9. The Cowboys will return to North Texas on Thursday, Aug, 14, to finish out training camp. Note: Streaming plans are subject to change
