ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum raises eyebrows with apparent on-air Brian Windhorst weight dig
ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum raised some eyebrows when he cracked a crude joke about NBA senior writer Brian Windhorst on 'Get Up' Friday morning. The moment occurred during a segment, 'Are You Convinced?' when Dan Graziano, filling in for host Mike Greenberg, asked Tannenbaum if he thought Aaron Rodgers would lead the Steelers to their first playoff win since the 2016 season. 'No,' Tannenbaum said as laughter was heard in the background. 'I'm more convinced that Windy is in the cafeteria right now.' Windhorst, who recently made headlines after LeBron James publicly trolled him, was in the studio and appeared on Friday's show — however, he was not involved in that particular segment. 'No idea where Windy is,' Graziano added. ESPN senior NBA writer Brian Windhorst on 'Get Up' Friday, June 27, 2025. YouTube/ESPN Some viewers were curious about Tannenbaum's joke. 'Did Mike Tannenbaum just make fun of Brian Windhorst's weight on national TV?' one person wrote on X, including a clip of the moment. 'Is this inside joke that Windhorst hates the ESPN cafeteria?' another said. ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum on 'Get Up' Friday, June 27, 2025. YouTube/ESPN Earlier in the show, everyone was busting Windhorst for walking into a live camera shot. Graziano called out Windhorst after he unknowingly walked behind him while on the air. 'Windy is a little lost in the new studio,' ESPN wrote, including a clip of the moment on social media. ESPN's morning shows, including 'Get Up' and 'First Take,' moved from its Seaport Studios home to 7 Hudson Square in Lower Manhattan this month. Tannenbaum, a former GM for the Jets, didn't clarify if his joke was related related to Windhorst's camera mishap. During an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' in March, James publicly criticized Windhorst, calling him 'weird' and questioning his portrayal of their relationship. 'This guy who says he's like my f–king best friend, these guys are just weird,' James said. Windhorst has extensively covered James' career since his high school days.

Shams gives Mavericks ‘best frontcourt in NBA' label
The post Shams gives Mavericks 'best frontcourt in NBA' label appeared first on ClutchPoints. Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison became an instant villain when Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. And while that is understandable, things have quickly started to look up for the Mavericks once again. Advertisement This was partly due to them snagging the number 1 pick for the 2025 NBA Draft, despite having just a 1.8% chance. That pick was used to get Cooper Flagg, who has been deemed a generational star. Now, Shams Charania has branded the Mavericks' new-look frontcourt the best in the NBA, and even that seems understandable. 'What Nico Harrison, the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, is building is arguably the best frontcourt in the NBA,' he said on ESPN's Get Up. The statement comes after the Mavericks have already made multiple consolidation moves this offseason. With Flagg coming in, and the likes of Anthony Davis and Derrick Lively II at their disposal, the Mavericks have an offensive lineup that can rival any team. Charania also mentioned Daniel Gafford, who has recently signed a three-year, almost $60 million deal, along with Kyrie Irving. Advertisement 'The big question of course is the health of Kyrie Irving,' Shams said. Charania believes that as Dallas waits for Irving to return from his torn ACL, Flagg can act as a stopgap to replace the veteran's offensive output. Upon his return, the Mavericks will indeed have an eye-watering frontcourt roster. Mavericks' new-look frontcourt Since his arrival, AD has averaged 20 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in nine games. Lively added 8.7 points on 70.2% efficiency with 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in his sophomore year, while Gafford posted his career-high in points, averaging 12.3 per game last season. Klay Thompson has also averaged 14 points per game since his arrival in Dallas. Advertisement That, in addition to Washington's 14.7 points and 7.8 boards and the bench impact of Naji Marshall and Kai Jones, makes Dallas lethal offensively. Of course, it remains to be seen how big of an impact Flagg is able to make in his rookie season. The former Duke star had 19.2 points and 7.5 boards per game in his solitary college campaign. All in all, there is little doubt that the Mavericks have one of the, if not the best frontcourt in the NBA for the upcoming season. ESPN analyst accused of mocking colleague's weight with savage on-air comment
ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum has found himself in hot water after seemingly mocking colleague Brian Windhorst about his weight while on-air. The incident occurred during Friday's broadcast of 'Get Up', where ESPN's team of analysts sit down to discuss the latest news from across the sport world. However, during the segment, Tannenbaum appeared to take an unnecessary swipe at his colleague, which lefts fans confused. The panel were discussing Aaron Rodgers and whether he could deliver a first playoff win for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2016. Tannenbaum was asked whether he was 'convinced' over Rodgers, to which he replied: 'No! I'm more convinced that Windy [Windhorst] is in the cafeteria!'. His fellow panelists attempted to laugh off the comment, with Dan Graziano swiftly interjecting: 'No idea where Windy is'. did Mike Tannenbaum just make fun of Brian Windhorst's weight on national TV? — Eric Italiano (@eric_ital) June 27, 2025 The clip emerged on social media the following day after one user posted it with the caption: 'Did Mike Tannenbaum just make fun of Brian Windhorst's weight on national TV?' Tannenbaum - who was previously the general manager and senior VP of football operations for the New York Jets - has been part of ESPN's analyst team since 2019. Prior to those roles, he was also the executive vice president of operations for the Miami Dolphins for three years. It comes as the latest blunder on ESPN's broadcasts after a hilarious slip of the tongue saw Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd accidentally announced as a pick during this week's NBA Draft. With the 11th pick on Wednesday night, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Cedric Coward from Washington State. But as cameras cut to the 21-year-old celebrating with his loved ones, ESPN anchor Malika Andrews announced that Portland had picked 'Colin Cowherd'. 'This is a young man with the ultimate bet-on-yourself story,' Andrews continued. Alas, Colin Cowherd is a 61-year-old sportscaster with Fox Sports who hosts 'The Herd'. He made light of ESPN's error on social media. 'Apparently, I made a hell of an impact in Portland,' Cowherd wrote.

'Nico Harrison built arguably the best front line in the NBA': NBA insider praises Dallas Mavericks GM for drafting Cooper Flagg and landing Anthony Davis
Images via Getty Images The boos were loud, and the backlash was fierce. When the Dallas Mavericks traded franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, fans wanted blood—specifically GM Nico Harrison's. Chants of 'Fire Nico' rang out across Dallas, and a mock funeral even took place outside American Airlines Center. But just a few months later, everything feels different. On Thursday morning's episode of *Get Up*, ESPN insider Shams Charania praised Harrison's rebuild—one jumpstarted by selecting Duke phenom Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Cooper Flagg's debut and Kyrie Irving's recovery could make or break the Dallas Mavericks' season After defying the odds to win the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, Dallas used its top selection on Cooper Flagg —officially turning the page on the Doncic era. Though the trade brought in veteran superstar Anthony Davis midseason, the decision to ship out Doncic was met with outrage. Now, with a loaded frontcourt and a young star in Flagg, the mood around the Mavericks has changed. 'Whatever you want to say about the Luka Doncic trade, Nico Harrison has built arguably the best front line in the NBA,' Shams Charania said on 'Get Up'. Charania pointed to a core group that now includes Davis, Flagg, Dereck Lively II , and Daniel Gafford , who recently signed a three-year, $60 million extension. Add PJ Washington's versatility and scoring, and Dallas suddenly boasts one of the league's most intimidating frontcourts. Davis, acquired from the Lakers, played just nine games last season but still averaged 20 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks. Lively and Gafford each shot over 70% from the field, while Washington contributed 14.7 points and nearly eight rebounds per game. Despite the promising rebuild, Dallas still faces one major question: Who's running the offense until Kyrie Irving returns? Irving, who tore his ACL in March, won't be rushed back. According to Charania, he's targeting a return around January or February 2026. 'The biggest key of this season is going to be Kyrie Irving,' Charania said. 'He is the linchpin of everything they do there.' Until then, Dallas is exploring short-term options using their mid-level exception—potentially D'Angelo Russell, Chris Paul, or Malcolm Brogdon. Also Read: LeBron James confirms return for 23rd season shaking up Los Angeles Lakers rebuild and NBA future Drafting Flagg marked the dawn of a new era for Dallas. Harrison may have weathered the storm, but expectations haven't gone anywhere. The Mavericks are now built to contend—whether or not they actually do depends on the return of their All-Star guard and how the rest of the roster takes shape. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

Don't close the books yet on a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade: NBA insider
ESPN insider Shams Charania isn't closing the door on a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. During an appearance on 'Get Up' on Thursday, Charania said the two-time NBA MVP is still evaluating the Bucks' offseason and thinking about his future in Milwaukee. 'A lot of observing,' Charania said of Antetokounmpo. 'He's been there for 12 years, so there's going to be that equity given to the Bucks to see what they do during the draft week, free agency week. How much can they improve this team in their moves? Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34) during game five of the first round for the 2024 NBA Playoffs against the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images 'He said it, he wants to compete for championships. Can the Bucks make those championship moves? His future, I've said it for the last few weeks, it won't be tied to the draft, it won't be tied to free agency. If there is a resolution on Giannis Antetokounmpo, it could be later in the summer.' Antetokounmpo's name has been in the rumor mill since the Bucks were ousted in the first round for the third straight season. In mid-May, Charania reported that Antetokounmpo was 'open-minded' about leaving Milwaukee. Earlier this month, Charania's colleague Brian Windhorst threw cold water on a potential Antetokounmpo deal, saying, 'Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him.' Milwaukee has won just one playoff series since winning the NBA title in 2021, leading many to speculate that Antetokounmpo could leave for greener pastures as he enters his 30s. NBAE via Getty Images The Bucks will likely be without Antetokounmpo's All-Star sidekick Damian Lillard, who tore his Achilles during the first round against the Pacers, for most — if not all — of the season. The Knicks, Nets, Warriors, Heat and Spurs, among other teams, have been rumored to have interest in the nine-time All-Star.
