AAP hits the streets over slum demolition drives, threatens mass agitation

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched the 'Ghar Rozgar Bachao Andolan (Save homes, jobs movement)' at Jantar Mantar with a protest against the ongoing demolition drives in slum clusters in the city. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal accused the ruling BJP of betraying slum dwellers and urged Delhi's 40 lakh slum dwellers not to fall for 'Modi ki guarantee' again. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makaan (Where there's a jhuggi, there will be a house)' before the Delhi Assembly election, but delivered the opposite. 'What he really meant was 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Maidan (Where there is a jhuggi, there will be barren land)'. They've thrown the poor into boiling oil and left them to die,' he said, calling the Prime Minister's guarantees 'fake and hollow'. Mr. Kejriwal also said the BJP government would not complete its five-year term if they continue to demolish slums. Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai warned the BJP that the poor will occupy the 'Prime Minister's residence if slums are demolished without providing alternative housing', adding that there would be mass agitation if the demolition drives don't stop. Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, 'The call for an attack on the Prime Minister's residence has once again brought to light the dark and Naxalite-like faces of [Arvind] Kejriwal and Gopal Rai and they must understand that there is no place for their words in a civilised society.' Mr. Sachdeva claimed that the BJP government is 'committed to giving better lives to slum dwellers', who were 'compelled to live in bad conditions' along drains and railway tracks in the city. 'New homes, new lives' 'Just as we have resettled slum dwellers from Kalkaji, Jailorwala Bagh, Kalandar Colony, and Kathputli Colony. We will continue to provide new homes and new lives to people,' the city BJP chief said.

Exclusive - Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actress Shubhangi Atre: The industry will continue to change, it's a bit scary

Actress Shubhangi Atre, who is known for her show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, says that the industry has grown by leaps and bounds, and the modes of entertainment are going to continue to evolve. She adds that this can get a little overwhelming at times. 'The industry has already changed a lot, especially after COVID. The work culture and budgeting have changed. And in the next five years, with artificial intelligence growing, I feel things will change even more. It's a bit scary honestly. But I still believe that content is king. If you create good content, it will always work. Today people are very stressed in life, and entertainment gives them a little break from that. Music and entertainment offer relief, so we should focus on creating good content,' she says. Ask her what changes she wants to see, and she says, 'The content on TV is still a bit regressive, and that bothers me. We can definitely make more progressive shows. Second, I feel TV actors don't get the respect they deserve. People often don't take TV actors seriously. There's a perception that TV actors are overexposed or not as good. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? The mindset towards TV actors needs to change.' Meanwhile, she says that the cut-throat nature of the industry is one thing that will not change. 'Competition is very real. Sometimes people don't want to do certain roles, or they leave projects. That's their personal choice, and I respect that. But if someone is more committed, more disciplined, or more eager to work, then yes, they will get opportunities. That's what we call survival of the fittest. I just believe don't snatch work from someone, but if they don't want to do it and you can, there's no harm. Life goes on. Nothing is irreplaceable. And stardom is very temporary. We are just like passing faces on a screen. What truly matters is how well we perform and how much people connect with us,' she says. Rekha was once forcibly kissed by this actor, was shocked, left crying but he laughed and said…, his name is…

Rekha was once forcibly kissed by this actor, was shocked, left crying but he laughed and said..., his name is... There is frequently more to the glitzy world of Bollywood than meets the eye, where show business and stardom are frequently viewed as the most important qualities. Every glitzy look and every moment of fame has a backstory that is rarely such tale is of a legendary actress. Daughter of legendary Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan, the actress we are talking about is none other than Rekha. Destined for the limelight, Rekha's successful journey into Hindi cinema came with a lot of struggles. From not having command over language, to being typecasted and facing public criticism, Rekha went through a lot. She did her first film Sawan Bhadon, in 1970. The movie brought her into the limelight, and later she delivered a series of hits like Ghar, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Mr. Natwarlal, and Dharmatma. But behind the screen, was a young actress traversing a minefield of discomforts, one of which is a particularly black page from her early years. As Yasser Usman revealed in his book Rekha: The Untold Story, He shared a controversial event that happened with Rekha during the shoot of Do Shikari, when she was naive, new, and vulnerable. Director Kuljeet Pal, actor Biswajeet, and cinematographer Raja Nawathe, as per the book, had a conspiracy to shoot a kiss without talking about it to Rekha earlier. As shooting was going on, Biswajeet kissed her on the lips without warning. The act was shot by surprise, leaving the actress unaware of any such scene being shot. Years on, Biswajeet justified the act, saying it was not done for fun but was required for the movie. Rekha was said to be left shocked and embarrassed. The incident raised controversy regarding consent, professionalism, and ethics on the set—issues that were hardly recognized in the industry back then. But director Kuljeet Pal later asserted that Rekha had been apprised and had agreed to the scene. He maintained that scenes like these were few for actresses in Hindi films at that time and posited that if Rekha was ever uncomfortable, she could have brought it out in public. This inconsistent account has ever since buried the truth under mystery, but it cannot remove the emotional damage on Rekha. However later Rekha got married in 1990 to Industrialist Mukesh Agarwal, which only went for seven months as later he died by suicide. The movie, which started filming in 1969, wasn't put out on the screens until 1979—a decade that witnessed Rekha's remarkable transformation from a self-conscious teenager to a self-assured and award-winning actress. Speaking of Rekha's personal life, her relationship with Amitabh Bachchan has always been in the news, even though they never accepted it. While Rekha and Amitabh's relationship never materalised into anything, they both their respective partners.

'Clear targeting of children'

Yosri al-Ghar, a survivor of the overnight Israeli bombardment, said the air strikes killed his pregnant sister, her husband and three of their children. Their fourth child is in serious condition. He described the area as once being considered safe, far from the border, where life had been normal. "The strike was direct, with no warnings," Ghar told Middle East Eye outside the war-battered Nasser hospital in Khan Younis. "It was a clear targeting of civilians, including children. The attack was absolutely barbaric." He expressed deep frustration over the lack of global response. "There's no world, no Arab world, or even Islamic world, speaking out. If a kitten were killed, the world would have protested, but instead, the silence is deafening."
