3 more held for Rs 2cr jewellery heist in K'jhar

Keonjhar: Three more persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with a Rs 2 crore jewellery store heist in Harichandanpur main market in Keonjhar district, bringing the total number of arrests to six.
The accused were identified as Ajit Patnaik from Kendrapada, Indramani Mohanta from Jajpur and Budhadeb Mohanta from Keonjhar. Earlier, Biki Patra and Jagu Patra from Kendrapada and Jagannath Ghadei from Cuttack were taken into custody.
Ghatagaon SDPO Bijay Kumar Mahapatra and IIC of Harichandanpur police station, Devaki Naik, said a group of armed miscreants stormed the jewellery store, threatening the owner and employees before decamping with gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 crore on June 25.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered but their value is yet to be ascertained. Police recovered a mobile phone and two motorcycles abandoned on the Bhagamunda road, which led to the identification and arrest of the accused. Three mobile phones and three motorcycles have been seized. Efforts are on to nab the remaining culprits.
