Apple founder once gifted a Jaguar to secretary for not coming to office on time
Steve Jobs was not an ordinary leader and stories from Apple's early days often prove that. One such incident, dating back to the 1980s, has once again caught attention. It shows how the Apple co-founder could surprise people not only with his vision, but also with his spontaneous decisions. According to Ron Givens, who worked as Apple's Director of Quality in the early years, Jobs once gifted a luxury Jaguar car to a secretary, just because she was late to the office. Givens shared this story in a 2011 interview, where he recalled the unexpected gesture from the then 26-year-old the story goes, Jobs noticed a secretary entering the office after the usual time and asked her why she was late. She replied that her car had broken down. Jobs didn't say much at that moment. But later in the day, he walked into her cabin and handed her the keys to a brand-new Jaguar with a casual comment: 'Here, don't be late anymore.'Back then, the Jaguar XJ was priced at around $35,000, which would be worth over a crore rupees today if adjusted for inflation. For someone leading a tech company still in its early stages, this wasn't a small move. But it showed a side of Jobs that wasn't always visible, someone who could be unusually generous, even while being demanding as a leader. Givens described Jobs as a person who could inspire, pressure, and motivate all at once. While many knew him for his intense and sometimes difficult working style, moments like this also showed a completely different side. Givens recalled another personal memory where Jobs gifted him a crystal apple worth $1,000, again, without any reason or was known for setting high expectations for everyone who worked at Apple. He openly said that he believed in building teams with the best talent possible, often calling them "A players." While letting go of people was never easy for him, he admitted it was sometimes necessary to maintain the quality he high-energy leadership didn't stop at Apple. After buying Pixar in 1986, Jobs brought a similar approach to the animation studio. Pete Docter, now the chief creative officer at Pixar and director of popular films like Up and Inside Out, spoke about Jobs' late-night habits at a recent revealed that Jobs would often call people even at 3 in the morning if he had something on his mind. "He would phone colleagues at three in the morning. You're on vacation, doesn't matter. He wants to talk to you about it, you're on," Docter revealed. The Pixar executive admitted that this approach rubbed off on him as well, saying that even he now tends to send emails late at night, though his wife keeps telling him to stories show how Steve Jobs' leadership style was not something you could easily define. He was a tough boss, but he also believed in encouraging people in ways that made a lasting impact. Whether it was handing over a car to ensure someone reached work on time or surprising an employee with an expensive gift for no reason, Jobs didn't always follow the rulebook.- Ends

2026 5-star Edge shuts down recruitment after committing to Texas A&M
This weekend, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted 10 more recruits in the 2026 recruiting class, including five-star edge Tristian Givens, who was set to make his commitment between Washington, Tennessee, and the Aggies on Monday. However, his official visit to College Station reportedly sealed the deal, as the standout pass rusher announced his commitment on Saturday afternoon. Givens is considered a blue-chip prospect with the potential to become a Day 1 NFL Draft selection. While he is still raw as an every-down starter, the Georgia native is one of the most athletically gifted defenders in the 2026 class. Elko and his staff deserve a lot of credit for identifying developmental prospects early in the process, before their recruiting ranking explodes, and fending off late attention, which was the case for Givens. Right after his commitment, Givens joined wide receiver Aaron Gregory, running back Jonathan Hatton, and tight end Caleb Tafua in shutting down his recruitment, stating, "I'm home. Recruitment shutdown," after his announcement was made. This is significant news given his potential, as the trust all 19 2026 commits have in Elko and his coaching staff is a great sign moving forward. Throughout the offseason, Elko has continued to discuss the need for future NFL talent on the recruiting trail, trusting his staff to not only find position fits but also scout talented prospects who are willing to put in the work and stick with their development track. Knowing that Givens is all-in and ready to work towards his star potential, the sky is truly the limit. Texas A&M lands commitment from elite 2026 five-star Edge out of Georgia
Texas A&M's recruiting success continued on Saturday afternoon, as one of the program's 13 visitors announced his commitment to the Aggies as a five-star edge Tristian Givens, who is currently taking his first official visit to College Station, became the 19th commit in A&M's 2026 cycle, and the second five-star commit alongside cornerback Brandon Arrington. Texas A&M's long history of recruiting and developing elite defensive linemen, and after sending Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner to the NFL this offseason, Elko and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer can continue using the program's previous success to gain ground with elite pass rushers with NFL potential. Tristian Givens is that player, and the Georgia native has a bright future in front of him. Choosing the Aggies over Tennessee and Washington, where he recently took official visits, Texas A&M's future edge rotation will allow Givens to see the field earlier than expected, with senior Cashius Howell off to the NFL after the 2025 season. On the field, Givens is still raw as a pass rusher, having started his football career as a wide receiver, but possesses elite traits, especially his ability to bend and keep his balance once he turns the corner. Under Mike Elko, who will call the defensive plays this coming season, recruiting and developing NFL talent is the key to competing for a College Football Playoff spot. According to 247Sports, Givens is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 3rd-ranked edge, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia. 2026 5-star Edge will take official visit to Texas A&M This weekend
2026 5-star Edge will take official visit to Texas A&M This weekend Texas A&M's recruiting success over the last two weeks is only surprising to those not paying attention. Since Saturday night, coach Mike Elko has landed four commitments, starting with three-star athlete Kaeden Johnson, followed by four-star OT Samuel Roseborough, four-star running back KJ Edwards, and on Thursday afternoon, five-star athlete/cornerback Brandon Arrington chose the Aggies over Oregon. Landing Edwards and Arrington was not expected over a month ago, but Elko and his staff, especially running back coach Trooper Taylor and defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson, have proven their elite recruiting chops. This is just the start of what's to come this month, as Elko stated that more commits are on the horizon, while another priority prospect has just set his official visit with the program. According to GigEm247's Andrew Hattersley, 2026 five-star edge rusher Tristian Givens, who will announce his commitment on Monday, will take his Texas A&M official visit this weekend before making his decision. Givens is a slight favorite to land with the Aggies, which could be solidified after his OV. Ahead of his visit, Givens spoke with Hattersley about his close connection with College Station, and why the coaching staff, specifically his comfort level, and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer's plan for him, if he chose the Aggies. "(I like) just how they're going to play me off the edge and stuff and be able to drop me in curls, hooks and all the stuff like that," Givens stated. However, after official visits to Tennessee and Washington, Givens is reportedly "up in the air" regarding his decision. While the Aggies have a leg up as his final host this summer, nothing is set in stone. "Just whichever one, I feel the most comfortable going to and my mom feels comfortable with me going to," Givens stated. According to 247Sports, Givens is the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 3rd-ranked edge, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
