He will return to New Zealand. He was assessed on arrival in Zimbabwe where it was determined that he would require a few weeks to rehabilitate. 'It's obviously disappointing to lose someone of Glenn's calibre. Robinson joined the squad as cover for players involved in the MLC final and will now stick around for the remainder of the T20I tri-series. Robinson, 23, hit 75 not out off 57 balls to win the Player of the Match for New Zealand in their 21-run win over South Africa in the tri-series game on July 16. NZC further said they'll name Phillips' replacement for the Test series in due course. Mitch Hay and Jimmy Neesham, who were also called in as cover alongside Robinson, will join him on the way back home. One of the most athletic true all-rounders — who can bat, bowl, keep wickets and is electric in the outfield — in the world, this is not the first time Phillips has been unlucky with a groin injury. He was ruled out of the IPL 2025 with the Gujarat Titans due to a similar concern. view comments First Published: July 18, 2025, 17:07 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
