What are Apple Music's top streamed songs of the past decade?

To celebrate the 10 years of the streaming service, Apple Music has released the list of the Top 500 Streamed Songs of the past decade. It's... hardly surprising and not particularly inspiring. Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Drake make up the top 3 spots, with Sheeran's 2017 hit 'Shape of You' being the most-streamed track. As the No. 1 most-played song globally, 'Shape of You' had more than 1,000 days where the song reached No. 1 on the all-genre Top Songs chart in at least one country. Sheeran has 11 entries in the top 500. At the second spot is The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights', which spent more than 180 days in the top 10 of the Global Daily Top 100. Behind him is lawsuit-happy Drake with 'God's Plan', which was streamed more than any other hip-hop song in Apple Music history. The Top 10 goes like this: Ed Sheeran – Shape of You The Weeknd – Blinding Lights Drake – God's Plan Post Malone – Sunflower Post Malone – rockstar (feat. 21 Savage) Drake – One Dance (feat. Wizkid & Kyla) Travis Scott – SICKO MODE Ed Sheeran – Perfect Chris Brown – No Guidance (feat. Drake) Billie Eilish – bad guy Billie Eilish stands as the first solo female artist to chart in the Top 500 and has the most alternative songs with nine. Surprisingly, Taylor Swift first appears at No. 57 with 'Cruel Summer'. However, she stands as the No. 2 artist by number of songs (14 entries) - behind Drake, who has more entries than any other artist with 27 songs. Unsurprisingly, BTS has the most K-pop entries in the Top 500, while Japanese duo Yoasobi is the J-pop act with the most tracks on list. Meanwhile, the oldest song on the chart is Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' at No. 156. To further celebrate their 10 years and Sheeran's dominance, Apple shared an interview with the British artist talking about the creation and impact of 'Shape of You'. 'No one can take away the song,' Sheeran reflected to Zane Lowe. 'I'll be able to play it forever… I'm just grateful that I have songs like that, that you could be anywhere in the world and someone gives you a guitar and you can make someone happy with it.' Check out the full interview above and the full Top 500 list over at Apple Music.

Billie Eilish dominates as only female artist in Top 10 of Apple Music's most streamed songs of the decade

Billie Eilish stands as the only female artist in the top 10 of Apple Music's Top 500 Streamed Songs of the past decade, with her hit 'bad guy' securing the No. 10 spot. The chart honours the platform's most played tracks globally over the last 10 years. Leading the list is Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You,' which broke multiple records upon release, including over 1,000 days at No. 1 on Apple Music's Top Songs chart in at least one country. The track also set the record for the biggest pop debut in Apple Music history. At No. 2, the Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' logged over 180 days in the Global Daily Top 100. The Canadian artist also claims the most R&B/soul entries on the chart with nine. Drake follows closely behind with 'God's Plan' at No. 3, the most-streamed hip-hop song in the platform's history. Drake appears more than any other artist on the full list, with 27 entries. Post Malone holds spots four and five with 'Sunflower' and 'Rockstar,' while other artists rounding out the top 10 include Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and a second entry for Sheeran with 'Perfect.' Taylor Swift leads as the female artist with the most entries, appearing 14 times overall, while Cardi B dominated as the female rapper with the most entries, appearing 8 times. BTS led the K-pop category with 2 entries. The full list can be found on Apple Music.
