Ex-Salesian standout Deommodore Lenoir, now with 49ers, arrested for resisting peace officer
San Francisco 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday afternoon in South Los Angeles. He was charged with delaying and resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor. Another man, apparently a companion of Lenoir's, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, which is a felony. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4500 block of South Wilton Place. Officers spotted 25-year-old Marcus Cunningham 'frantically reaching' into a gray Cadillac Escalade. He then 'locked the vehicle and walked away, appearing to conceal contraband.' Cunningham threw the keys behind a gate when approached by officers, the LAPD told The Times via email, then 'Lenoir retrieved the keys, refused to give them back, and passed them to an unknown male who fled.' After additional officers located the keys on a nearby porch, the police opened the car and found 'a loaded semi-automatic firearm in the center compartment, a loaded Glock in an open compartment and narcotics,' the LAPD said. According to the L.A. County Sheriff Department's inmate information center, Lenoir was released on his own recognizance at 1:18 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in L.A. Superior Court on July 25. No release or court information was available for Cunningham. The 49ers released a statement Friday saying that they're aware of the matter and 'are in the process of gathering further information.' Lenoir, a former standout at Los Angeles Salesian High who played four seasons at Oregon, was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He signed a five-year, $88-million contract extension before the 2024 season.

CBSA firearms investigation in the Prairie Region leads to five-year jail sentence Français
WINNIPEG, MB, June 27, 2025 /CNW/ - Today, Robert Ripcik, a 57-year-old resident of Beausejour, Manitoba, was sentenced to five years imprisonment for firearms-related offences along with a 10-year firearm prohibition and ordered to provide a DNA sample. Ripcik, who has been in custody since his arrest on March 12, 2024, pleaded guilty in Selkirk Provincial Court to the following charges: False statements, contrary to section 153(a) of the Customs Act Possession of illegally imported goods, contrary to section 155 of the Customs Act Unauthorized possession of firearms, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code Possession of prohibited devices, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code Possession of a prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition, contrary to section 95(1) of the Criminal Code The investigation into Ripcik began in April 2023 after CBSA officers at the Winnipeg Land Commercial office examined a shipment that was found to contain items related to the manufacture of firearms without serial numbers. A firearm with no serial number is also known as a "ghost gun" and is untraceable. In March and April 2024, CBSA officers, with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed search warrants at a rural property near Chatfield, Manitoba. Among the items seized were: Nine long guns with serial numbers (two prohibited firearms, seven non-restricted firearms) Two Polymer 80 pistol receiver blanks for Glock pattern handguns (restricted firearms) and other handgun parts without serial numbers One Ghost Gunner Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine and one 3D printer One lower receiver for an AR pattern rifle without serial number (a prohibited firearm) Fully automatic parts for an AR pattern rifle (prohibited devices) and other AR parts Multiple overcapacity magazines (prohibited devices) and ammunition One fully automatic AR-15 pattern rifle (prohibited firearm) One automatic switch for a Glock handgun (prohibited device) The CBSA Integrated Firearm Enforcement Team (IFET), with assistance from the Winnipeg Police Service, the RCMP and Manitoba Conservation, led the complex investigation that resulted in today's conviction. Punjab: 3 operatives of Babbar Khalsa International terror group arrested in Mohali
Mohali (Punjab) [India], June 27 (ANI): An intellgence operation led by Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), successfully busted a terror module of the Pakistan's ISI-backed banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and arrested three of its operatives, police said on Friday The SSOC arrested three associates from the module, which is being operated by Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Rinda, according to a statement by the Punjab DGP. Taking to X, DGP Punjab Police posted: 'The group was conspiring to carry out attacks on police establishments and targeted killings in the Amritsar area. A major terror plot has been foiled, saving countless innocent lives.' During the operation, two hand grenades, one Glock pistol, and ammunition were recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as Sehajpal Singh and Vikramjit Singh, both residents of Ramdas, Amritsar Rural, along with a juvenile. An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS and Explosives Act at Police Station SSOC Mohali. Investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected, police said. On June 26, as part of its investigation in the Babbar Khalsa International-linked grenade attack at the residence of former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of searches across the state as well as in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, the agency said. NIA teams carried out searches at 18 locations in the three northern states this morning, and seized various incriminating materials, including mobiles and digital devices and documents. As per the NIA, the searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Kulbir Sidhu, US-based gangster Manish alias Kaka Rana, and their nodes based in India and various other countries. Kulbir Sidhu, originally from Yamunanagar in Haryana, is currently in Germany and is a key aide of designated terrorist and BKI chief, Pakistan-based Wadhawa Singh Babbar. Sidhu is also an accused in a case related to the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal, Punjab, in April 2024. (ANI)

Three men appeared in court today accused of carrying an imitation Glock pistol and breaking into a south Belfast house to steal a television set.
