Florida CB Dijon Johnson won't face prosecution following arrest on felony gun and drug charges
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Florida cornerback Dijon Johnson won't face prosecution for two felony charges that followed a traffic stop in May, his attorney said Monday. Attorney Tim Taylor said the state attorney's office has filed paperwork confirming 'no further action' in the case. 'We have worked closely with prosecutors on this for the past few months and are pleased with their diligence and professionalism,' Taylor said. 'Dijon and his family are happy to have this matter behind them. Dijon is focused on his academic and football commitments and is excited for the start of the football season.' The Gators open fall camp Wednesday. Police in Tampa charged Johnson with two felonies, including possession of a firearm, and two misdemeanors in May. Officers said they pulled him over for running a stop sign and detected a 'strong odor of burned marijuana.' They said Johnson was argumentative during the traffic stop and refused to exit the gray Dodge Challenger, according to the criminal report filed in Hillsborough County. Johnson was removed from the car and placed into custody. A vehicle search found marijuana and 8 grams of synthetic marijuana inside a backpack. A black Glock 19 loaded with 17 rounds in a magazine also was found in the car, according to the report. Johnson entered written pleas of not guilty to all charges, according to court documents. A 6-foot-1, 196-pound junior from Tampa, Johnson recorded 27 tackles and two pass breakups last season. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here. Body left at hospital linked to JB petrol station shooting, Malaysia News
A man who was shot during an alleged robbery attempt at a petrol station in Johor, was later found dead at a hospital at Sultanah Aminah Hospital there. The incident occurred around 12.10am on Thursday (July 3) at a Shell petrol station in Iskandar Puteri, near the Second Link Expressway. CCTV footage circulating online shows a silver vehicle pulling up next to a parked black Honda, and four men armed with machetes stepping out and attacking the black car. [embed] Moments later, passengers in the black car can be seen firing several gunshots. The group in the silver car then flees the scene — three men leaving in the car, and one escaping on foot. Three men were later seen exiting the Honda shortly after, before two of them drove off with it. Johor police commissioner M. Kumar said in a statement that the authorities were alerted to a man's body left at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital at around 1.40am, reported The Star. CCTV footage showed two people leaving the body at the hospital, and quickly leaving the scene in a dark-coloured car. A post-mortem confirmed the victim had sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He did not have any identification on him, but fingerprint records later identified him as a 42-year-old Indian man from Sungai Petani, Kedah. He was also found to have a criminal record. When asked if the victim was one of the attackers in the attempted robbery, Kumar said the matter was still under investigation. Following initial investigations, three men were arrested in Kuala Lumpur's Dang Wangi district. The suspects, aged between 30 and 40, include two Malaysians and one Indian national. Police seized several items during the arrest, including a Glock 19 pistol, a magazine loaded with six 9mm bullets, spent shell casings, and a black Honda Accord. One of the suspects is believed to be a licensed bodyguard and owns a firearm. Authorities are verifying the legitimacy of the licence. The suspects have been remanded until July 10 to assist with investigations. The case is being probed under multiple charges, including murder, rioting with weapons, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Police said efforts are ongoing to locate other suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Members of the public are advised not to speculate or spread unverified information online as investigations are still ongoing, they added. [[nid:719811]]

About 90 minutes later, at 1.40am, the body of a man with gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen was left at the emergency department of Sultanah Aminah Hospital, said Johor Police, according to The Star. The police are now attempting to establish links between the dead man and those involved in the recorded incident. Johor police chief M. Fingerprint analysis identified the deceased as a 42-year-old man from Kedah with four previous convictions. Mr Kumar added that initial investigations led to the arrests of three suspects between the ages of 30 and 40 - two Malaysians and an Indian national - in Dang Wangi, Kuala Lumpur, at around 7pm on the same day. The operation was conducted by a joint team from Johor police headquarters and the Iskandar Puteri district police.
