Tickets for G.E.M.'s 3 concerts in Hong Kong mostly snapped up within 30 minutes

Concert tickets for the three shows by Hong Kong singer Gloria Tang Tsz-kei, known as G. E. M., at the Kai Tak Stadium from August 15 to 17 were mostly snapped up within 30 minutes when public sales opened on Friday morning. Advertisement A Post reporter who visited the HK Ticketing website when sales opened observed that the cheapest seats for the Saturday and Sunday shows on August 16 and 17, which cost HK$680 (US$87) each, were sold out within three minutes. Despite the HK Ticketing website showing that most tickets in the other categories were available, attempts by the Post to select tickets were unsuccessful. 'There are currently too many visitors, please try again,' a pop-up message read. The pop star will be celebrating her 34th birthday on August 16, and the show on that date proved the most popular, with fans eagerly scrambling for tickets to celebrate the occasion with her. Advertisement By 12.10pm, all standard tickets for the Saturday show were sold out, leaving only seats with a restricted view. Tickets are also available for purchase on travel platform and Chinese platforms Damai and Ctrip.

Presale tickets for G.E.M. concert in Hong Kong gone in just over an hour

Presale tickets for Hong Kong singer Gloria Tang Tsz-kei were snapped up in just over an hour, with nearly 120,000 Hongkongers at one point vying to see the artist also known as G.E.M and dubbed 'China's Taylor Swift'. A Post reporter who visited the Klook app at Wednesday, when ticket sales opened, observed that there was a queue of over 24,000 people waiting to buy tickets to the second edition of Tang's 'I AM GLORIA' world tour. Less than five minutes later, the number of people waiting jumped to over 90,000, and shortly thereafter peaked at around 119,900. At around 12.40pm, the Post reporter was brought to the page to purchase tickets and given ten minutes to confirm the transaction. While some stand tickets and bundles were listed as available, the reporter was unable to progress to the payment option. 'Some tickets are on hold. If they are not paid for in time, they might become available again,' a notice on the Klook app said when the reporter tried to purchase a ticket. The reporter was then removed from the purchasing window and placed at the end of the queue. Shortly after 1pm, Klook said that all tickets for the event were sold out.

HKEX chairman Carlson Tong sells Pok Fu Lam luxury home for US$9 million

The chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) sold a house in Pok Fu Lam for HK$70 million (US$8.9 million), around three times what he paid for it a quarter of a century ago, amid signs of improving sentiment in the luxury residential property market Carlson Tong Ka-shing bought the 3,114 sq ft, four-bedroom house at Villa Cecil – 200 Victoria Road in Pok Fu Lam – in 2000 for HK$23.2 million, according to Land Registry records. The selling price translates to about HK$22,479 per square foot. Tong declined to comment. Agents said the deal was one of two secondary transactions in the past four years in phase one of Villa Cecil. A 3,308 sq ft house in the first phase was sold for HK$100 million, or HK$30,230 per square foot, in 2021, according to Centaline. Phase one consists of 10 houses. Phase two and three are low-density buildings with a total of 65 units. Tong's sale came as some other wealthy investors have been taking advantage of falling prices to snap up luxury homes. Property agents said prices of exclusive residences had plunged by as much as 45 per cent from their peaks. The sister of former Hong Kong chief executive Tung Chee-hwa bought a HK$119 million flat in the Mid-Levels neighbourhood. The 3,349 sq ft, four-bedroom unit in Grenville House, located at 3 Magazine Gap Road, was sold on Tuesday, according to Land Registry records. And Cantopop singer Gloria Tang Tze-kei bought two flats in Wan Chai in March at a 35 per cent discount from a peak price three years ago. Tang, who uses the stage name G.E.M., bought two 2,480 sq ft units in Leon Court at Wong Nai Chung Gap Road for a combined HK$85 million, according to Land Registry records.
