Inside Sarina Wiegman's relationship with husband Marten Glotzbach

Sarina Wiegman has cemented her place as one of the finest football managers of her generation by guiding England into the Women's Euros Final 2025. The Lionesses' head coach has transformed England's fortunes since taking over in 2021, embarking on a spectacular run of only nine losses in 69 games. These wins include the Women's Euros triumph 2022, only narrowly missing out on the World Cup to Spain in 2023, with a score of 1-0 against. Wiegman has reached the final of all the major international tournaments she has been involved in – including a Euro 2017 win with her native Netherlands and the World Cup 2019 defeat to the all-conquering USA. She will be cheered on in Sunday's Switzerland showdown by husband Marten Glotzbach, who has been at his wife's side throughout the highs and lows of her career. Let's take a brief look inside Wiegman's relationship with Glotzbach as she and the Lionesses prepare to take on Spain in tonight's final. Glotzbach, who is thought to be of a similar age to his 55-year-old wife, is a German football coach and economics professor. After earning his bachelor's degree in marketing and commerce in 1994, he worked as a teacher at Sebroek College in the Netherlands. The German worked alongside Wiegman with the Dutch Women's team before his wife was appointed as the England manager in September 2021. According to Hello! Magazine, she chose to move with her husband and her children to the UK after realising that she would need to relocate for the role. Following on from England's Euro success in 2022, Wiegman opted to recharge her batteries by jetting off on holiday with Glotzbach, with the couple posing for a selfie together on the beach. 'Family time! Different mode than two weeks ago 😅 but still enjoying all the amazing footage that's passing by…' she wrote in the accompanying caption. Glotzbach previously worked at Sebroek College in the Netherlands as a Professor of Economics, putting his official coaching qualification to use by managing the college football teams. His career actually started at Host Broadcast Services, which records major sporting events, working as a coordinator and a youth trainer. According to his LinkedIn profile, Glotzbach also has a bachelor's degree in marketing and commerce. The couple have two daughters together, Sacha and Lauren. Eldest daughter Lauren, 21, briefly followed in her parents footsteps and pursued a career in football. At 19, she signed a contract for Dutch football club ADO Den Haag, with whom she played for two years, before her contract ended in May 2025. Not much else is known about the sisters, with their parents keen to keep them out of the gaze of the public spotlight. However, the family do regularly share a glimpse of their lives together when they pose for a picture at Christmas. 'Happy holidays 🌟🎄' the football coach wrote on Instagram last year, as she posed with her husband and daughters in front of a mountain range. Back in 2020, she shared an intimate picture of the family celebrating Christmas together at home, along with their dog. More Trending 'We missed you so much! Health is not self-evident, that has become even more clearer in 2020. 'I wish you a very merry Christmas and a very beautiful sporty, and happy 2021.' Sacha and Lauren have set their Instagram accounts to private, such is their wish to live as normal lives as possible. Shea Glotzbach scores twice on dropped third strikes, earns save as Lemont gets past Oak Forest. ‘Found a way.'

Lemont's Shea Glotzbach might want to forget this game, but he will always remember it. The senior third baseman went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts at the plate Thursday. He also made two straight errors in the field and then gave up a run during the only inning that he pitched. And he still was the difference-maker. 'He's one of our best players on our team for a reason,' Lemont coach Brian Storako said of Glotzbach. 'He didn't have a great day at the plate. We all know that. We all saw that. 'But he found a way to make a difference. That's all we ask those kids to do. It they don't have their best day, they have to find a way to make a difference.' On two of those strikeouts, Glotzbach reached on dropped third strikes and scored both times as Lemont survived for a 7-6 win over Oak Forest in a Class 3A St. Laurence semifinal in Burbank. Glotzbach, a Missouri-St. Louis recruit, earned the save by pitching out of a jam in the seventh inning for Lemont (29-7-1), which plays at 11 a.m. Saturday for the sectional title against St. Laurence (33-5), which beat St. Rita 5-0 in the other semifinal on 12 strikeouts by Jimmy Benson and two hits, two runs and two RBIs from Cory Les. Jacob Parr added two hits and three RBIs for Lemont, while Brett Tucker doubled home a pair of runs in the first inning. Nick Reno picked up the pitching win, allowing two runs in five innings. Kevin Sullivan had three hits for Oak Forest (23-14-1). Vince Webber drove in two runs. Even with everything he went through, Glotzbach was happy about Thursday's win. Lemont finished second in the state last spring in Class 3A and was focused on taking another step. 'It's about doing anything to win,' Glotzbach said. 'It's all about winning. It's not about stat padding or anything like that. Me striking out and getting on base — that's all I can do. 'I can't go back and retry, so I have to take my opportunities and make the most out of them.' While Glotzbach was grinding out his unique game, teammate Matthew Devoy pitched an unconventional sixth inning. Devoy, who is also going to Missouri-St. Louis, entered with no outs and two runners on. He struck out the first two batters he faced, hit the next, walked two more and struck out the final batter. 'I executed against the first two hitters,' Devoy said. 'But there was one call that did not go my way and I didn't take it the right way. 'I started to aim my pitches. I short-armed the ball and walked a lot of guys, but I'm just happy that my teammates had my back.' Devoy was impressed with how Glotzbach was able to bounce back from all of the adversity and pin down the victory for Lemont. 'I really knew Shea was going to get it done,' Devoy said of Glotzbach. 'He didn't allow any of the mistakes he made in the entire game affect him on the mound. 'He's always been a stone-cold guy.' Glotzbach's confidence was tested in the fifth inning when he was charged with back-to-back errors. On the next play, he fired a high throw that the 6-foot-5 Parr brought down at first base before a collision with an Oak Forest runner. 'They were just messed up plays and reading the ball wrong,' Glotzbach said. 'I was trying to do too much and was thinking too much. 'I know myself and I know I've been there before, so I knew I could come back and do better.'

May Teacher of the Month: Sara Glotzbach

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Sara Glotzbach's love for teaching started at Chanute High School, with the Future Educators of America class. 'I've taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, 6th grade, I was an instructional math coach, I was a principal, and now I teach 7th grade math,' Glozbach said. That adds up to 20 years in the education field! 'I love being a part of my students' lives,' Glotzbach said, 'I love being a part of my family's lives and really getting to know them. Even though students come here, we see a very tiny portion of who they are as a whole. It's important to know what else they like to do, what else they like to do and what else is going on in their family. That way we can kind of focus on the whole child, versus just the 46 minutes we get them in a middle school.' Kansas sees smoky, hazy skies Monday due to Canadian wildfires That focus and extra effort for each student make Mrs. Glotzbach a standout in her school. 'We have academic teams so students are grouped together with their science, social studies, math and English teacher,' Seaman Middle School Principal, Kyle Johnson said. 'She's a leader on that team and makes sure that every student on her academic team are supported, not just in the classroom but in everything that they do.' Bringing math concepts to life through engaging scenarios also makes her a favorite around the school. 'In our leadup to when we were doing testing, I walked into her room for a walkthrough, and they had like a beach party as they were reviewing and getting ready for assessments,' Johnson said. 'It's that kind of attention to detail and willingness to engage students that just makes her such a fantastic teacher.' $1.9 billion CHIPS grant denied for Kansas Throughout her two decades in education, she's found ways to connect with students and their families that truly resonate well beyond the classroom. 'This is a craft that we have honed,' Glotzbach said. 'I take what I do very seriously, because it is serious. We are educating the future of America, and we want them to be best that they possibly can be.' For more Teacher of the Month, click here.
