Transfer News: Luton Town Sign Tottenham Hotspur's Young Star Goalkeeper

Last Updated: Luton Town has signed Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Josh Keeley after the 22-year-old impressed on loan at Leyton Orient last season. League One team Luton Town has announced the signing of highly regarded Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Josh Keeley. The 22-year-old has signed a permanent contract following an impressive season on loan at Leyton Orient in League One last term. The Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper joined Spurs' Academy from St Patrick's Athletic in July 2022 and immediately joined the first team's pre-season tour of South Korea. He did the same in the summer of 2023 as Spurs travelled to Australia, Thailand, and Singapore. Keeley was a regular for the Under-21s in his first two seasons before joining National League side Barnet on loan in January 2024. In his first interview with Luton Town, Josh revealed that a former Town goalkeeper helped persuade him to join the Hatters. He said, 'Dean Brill was my goalkeeper coach at Spurs, and he told me how big and how great the club was. To be honest, those words helped turn my head completely, so I'm absolutely delighted and grateful that I'm here." He continued, 'I moved to Spurs when I was 19, but there comes a time in your career that it's time to move on – and that time is now, so it's time to kick on and I can't wait to get started." Who Is Josh Keeley? Last season was quite remarkable for Josh. He joined Leyton Orient on loan in August 2024 and played 36 times for the O's, keeping 16 clean sheets, including a run of 660 minutes without conceding a goal in December. He made national headlines by scoring a late equaliser in the FA Cup second round against Oldham and produced more heroics in a penalty shoot-out win against Derby in the third round to set up a fourth-round tie against Manchester City. Orient went on to make the League One play-off final where Josh started in a 1-0 loss against Charlton at Wembley. His performances were recognised with three accolades at Orient's end-of-season awards, including Goal of the Season, an exceptional achievement. Capped at Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 levels, Josh earned his first senior call-up for the Republic of Ireland for this summer's friendlies against Senegal and Luxembourg. Alisdair Burns has signed his first professional contract with the Club. Brought in from Blackburn United Community Youth in August 2023, the young midfielder gained experience in Hibs Under-18s squad last season aged just 15. Right-back Arran McSporran has been capped at U16 level for Scotland and made his Hibs U18 debut at just 14 years old. The former St Johnstone defender, who joined the Club in April 2023, now signs his first professional contract at Hibernian. Former Lasswade Thistle attacking midfielder Reiss Downie has signed his first professional contract with the Club. Exclusive: Man Utd told to sell Alejandro Garnacho by ex-Red Devil as Argentina winger torn apart for being 'more concerned with celebrations than scoring'

Parker criticises winger's lack of end product He claims he cares more about celebrating than scoring Argentine urged to stop imitating Cristiano Ronaldo WHAT HAPPENED? Ruben Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club after the winger and his brother spoke out against the coach following the Europa League final. And the player has also told United he wants to leave, along with Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia. No concrete offers have arrived for the Argentina international but former United defender Paul Parker has told the club to do what it takes for him to leave. Advertisement WHAT PARKER SAID Parker, speaking exclusively to GOAL via Betsson, the home of odds, said: "Sell the boy. He needs to move on, needs to understand what football is about. Not a game of golf, and you need players around you. He needs to look at his game and what he is rather than what he wants to be – he should want to be Garnacho, not the former United winger that plays for Portugal… and have a bit of humanity." THE BIGGER PICTURE THE BIGGER PICTURE Garnacho scored six Premier League goals last season but missed his fair share of chances, most memorably against Tottenham and West Ham. And Parker criticised his shooting and final ball. He said: "I'd say I have better end product than him. He's more concerned about trying to score and what he's going to do after to celebrate than actually scoring a goal. His end product is terrible, absolutely terrible." Advertisement DID YOU KNOW? Garnacho's bicycle kick against Everton in 2023-24 was named Goal of the Season but Parker believes the winger has not kicked on from that moment and he is still not convinced by his talents. He added: "Living off shinning an overhead kick into the top corner against Everton. I wonder what kind of player he is. Not full of tricks, not that quick. I'm trying to figure out what his game is, I really don't know what his strengths are." WHAT NEXT FOR GARNACHO? WHAT NEXT FOR GARNACHO? Napoli and Chelsea both showed interest in signing Garnacho in January and are reported to still be keen on him. United value the 21-year-old at £60m ($81m) but Amorim's stance and the player's social media activity are likely to drive the price down. Napoli are reportedly hoping to sign him for £45m.

SWPL title winners Hibs have added another proven winner to the squad as they prepare to defend their domestic crown AND launch an assault on the Champions League, with 20-year-old attacker Tiree Burchill signing a one-year deal. Burchill, who spent last season at Partick Thistle, was an SWPL champion with Celtic in season 2023-24, hitting the next six times in 15 league games for the Hoops. The former Hibs academy prospect, who hit the net nine times in 32 appearances for the Jags last season, also won the 2024-25 Goal of the Season award for her ridiculous looping volley away to Spartans. A regular at youth level for Scotland, she's been a target for Hibs boss Grant Scott for a while now, with the manager eager to get her back to East Mains. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Goals expected from Scotland youth international 'Tiree is another player similar in age profile to many of our attacking players - and we hope she will add goals to our side,' said Scott, the gaffer adding: 'She is an exciting forward we have tracked for a couple of seasons, and I think our environment will really help towards her development.' For Burchill, a return to full-time football was a big part of the attraction in returning, as he said: 'It feels great to be here. I'm so happy to be back in full-time football. 'I spent about four years here when I was younger in the academy. I'm so delighted to be back where I almost started my journey. I can't wait to get going. 'I think it's a great place for young players like myself to develop. Seeing the team's success last season, it was a no-brainer to come here.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Hibs won the SWPL title for the first time since 2007 in dramatic fashion last season, seeing off the twin challenges of Rangers and Glasgow City with a final-day victory at Ibrox. They kick off their title defence on August 7 at home to Aberdeen. They follow that game with a trip to Glasgow to take on Partick Thistle a week later – before embarking on their European adventure. Cypriot side Apollon Ladies will host the four-team mini-league that sees Scott's team attempt to progress beyond the second qualifying round of European football's premier women's tournament. Hibs will take on Danish champions Fortuna Hjoggard in their semi-final at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium in Paphos on Wednesday, August 25, with a 9.30 pm local time KO – 7.30 pm back in Scotland. That's the second of the semi-finals, with the hosts taking on BSC Young Boys at the same venue in a 5 pm local time kick-off. The winners of both semis will meet at the stadium on Saturday, August 30, for a final scheduled to kick-off at 9.30 pm local time, while there's a third-place play-off for the semi-final losers earlier in the day.
