FIA, FCCI agree to resolve issues facing traders

FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) would make collaborative efforts to resolve the FIA-related issues of the business community, said Malik Sikandar Hayat, Director FIA. Addressing the business community, he said that different laws including smuggling have been changed on the guideline of FATF while beggary had also been included in the mandate of FIA. He said that data has been digitized to improve the immigration system at the airport while training of staff has also been started to improve their behaviour with the passengers. He further said that cameras have been installed on the immigration counter to monitor their performance. Regarding anti-money laundering, he said that FIA staff had been directed to avoid seizure of accounts of persons related to the main accused without any strong evidence. Earlier Rehan Naseem Bharara, President FCCI welcomed Malik Sikandar Hayat and pinpointed some issues related with the FIA. He said that cybercrimes have increased at an alarming proportion and in this connection awareness sessions may be arranged for the business community. He said that FCCI is ready to cooperate with the FIA in this regard. He also demanded that a special facilitation desk for FCCI members may be established at the Faisalabad Airport. Shahid Mumtaz Bajwa, Vice President, Muzammil Sultan, Umer Farooq Khalon, Muhammad Ali, Haji Muhammad Attaullah, Haji Sanaullah Khan Niyazi, Sohail Butt, Muhammad Mustafa, Akbar Ali and Habibullah took part in the question-answer session. Later Qaisar Shams Gucha, SVP offered vote of thanks while Rehan Naseem Bharara presented FCCI shield to Director FIA. V-P Jagdeep Dhankhar to visit Uttarakhand from June 25-27

ANI 25 Jun 2025, 00:48 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar will be on a three-day visit to Nainital, Uttarakhand from June 25 to 27, Vice President's Secretariat said in an official statement. On June 25, the Vice-President will preside over the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Kumaun University and address the students and faculty members of the institute,as per the statement. On June 27, the Vice-President will preside as Chief Guest over the 156th Founders' Celebration of Sherwood College. During this tour, the Vice-President will also visit Raj Bhavan, Nainital. Earlier in the day, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday planted a tree in memory of his late parents, Kesari Devi and Gokal Chand, at Bihar's LN Mishra College of Business Management, accompanied by a state minister, Nitish Mishra. Church in Muscat celebrates Golden jubilee, thanks the country

Muscat: The Mar Thoma Parish in Muscat celebrated the Golden jubilee of its existence in Oman and the churchmen have thanked the country, the ruler and the people for the harmonious coexistence of various religions in the country. "We are immensely grateful to the ruler, the ministers, the people and the Sultanate of Oman for the harmonious coexistence of various religions and faiths and the peace in the country," said Rev Father Sajan Varghese of the faith. As part of the closing ceremony of the one-year-long Golden Jubilee celebrations and Valedictory Function of Mar Thoma Church in Oman Parish held on Saturday, March 01, at St Thomas Church, Ruwi, many socio-cultural events were held which enthralled the audience who gathered from all over the country. The function started with Parish showing respect to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, followed by playing the national anthems of Oman and India. The general meeting was inaugurated by Most Rev Dr Theodosius Marthoma Metropolitan, the 22nd Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church and the Paramount President of the Church in the presence of the Diocesan Bishop Rt Rev Dr Euyakim Mar Coorilos. Guest of Honors were Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Co-operation in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, P Prasad, Minister of Agriculture, State of Kerala, India. PCO Lead Pastor Mitchel Ford, Dr Wahid Ali Said al Kharusi, Chairperson of Oman Cancer Association Rev Sajan Varghese and Rev Obed Samuel, Vicar and Asst Vicar of the Parish along with other dignitaries. Binu M Philip, General Convener of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations presented the Jubilee report by thanking the country and the government of Oman for providing the Parish all required facilities and freedom of worship in the last five decades. Parish paid tribute to Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for granting an audience to church's late bishop. Philip mentioned in his speech that the Parish responded to the needs of sick and the needy people as a part of their mission and action in the Jubilee year. This includes support to Oman Cancer Association and a Pain and Palliative Care unit in Kerala. Also proceeds from the annual get together were distributed to needy to meet their expenses for Medical, Education and House. A yearlong Golden Jubilee Celebrations which included visit to all Parish member's houses, Ecumenical musical programme involving different parishes in Oman, women empowerment programme with Sreelekha IPS, the first female IPS officer and Ex DGP of Kerala who lead the sessions, convention, family day lead by Father Joseph Puthenpurakkal from Kerala, Parish Christmas Carol, devotional musical programme performed by famous playback singer KG Markose and a fellowship in Kerala with ex members of the parish who are retired and settled in Kerala in attendance. During the valedictory function, seven members of the Parish who completed 50 years in membership of the parish were honoured. The seven dignitaries who were honoured includes Dr C Thomas, Dr Renchi Mathew, Dr Mathew Koshy who served the Sultanate of Oman with their dedicated medical services and Sam Varghese, Thomas Alexander, George M Thomas who are successful businessmen from Oman and Koshy Samuel from Bahrain. Also, the 10-subcommittee conveners were honoured for their excellent services throughout the year besides members from the Parish in large and other Church's' as well as people from other communities who have made their presence felt with their services to the society.

Mar Thoma Church Oman concludes golden jubilee celebrations with grand valedictory function

Muscat – The Golden Jubilee Valedictory Function of the Mar Thoma Church Oman Parish was held at St. Thomas Church, Ruwi, on Saturday, marking the culmination of a year-long celebration. The event commenced with a tribute to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, followed by the national anthems of Oman and India. The function was inaugurated by H.G. Most Rev. Dr. Theodosious Mar Thoma Metropolitan and presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos, Diocesan Bishop. Among the distinguished guests were H.E. Mr. Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation, Oman, and Shri P. Prasad, Minister of Agriculture, Kerala, India. Other notable attendees included Second Secretary of the Indian Embassy Mr. Anoop Bijily, Oman Cancer Association Chairperson Dr. Wahid Ali Said Al Kharusi, PCO Lead Pastor Mitchel Ford, Rev. Sajan Varghese, and Rev. Obed Samuel. Mr. Binu M. Philip, General Convener, presented the Jubilee Report, expressing gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq and the Government of Oman for providing the Parish with freedom of worship over the past five decades. A tribute was also paid to Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his past support. As part of its mission and service, the Parish supported the Oman Cancer Association and established a Pain & Palliative Care Unit in Kerala. Additionally, proceeds from the Annual Get-Together were distributed to those in need for medical, educational, and housing expenses. The year-long Golden Jubilee Celebrations featured home visits to Parish members, an ecumenical musical program, a women empowerment session by Ex-DGP Kerala Sreelekha IPS, a Parish Convention, Family Day, Christmas Carols, and devotional performances by playback singer KG Markose. During the event, seven longstanding Parish members who completed 50 years of membership were honored. Seven dignitaries, including medical professionals and successful businessmen, were also recognized for their contributions. Additionally, 10 subcommittee conveners were appreciated for their dedicated service. The function witnessed large participation from Parish members, representatives from other churches, and members of diverse communities, reinforcing the church's legacy of faith, service, and unity
