Big hitters out in support of Duhallow GAA Golf Classic

A strong turnout of players and GAA supporters came together to back the event, which raises vital funds for Duhallow football and hurling teams. Event coordinator Ger O'Sullivan shared his satisfaction with how the competition unfolded. 'We had over 70 teams with people travelling from all over Munster and beyond to take part in what was a most successful golf classic. Marvellous weather added to the occasion and there was some exceptional golf played over the two days thanks to the pristine condition of the course, a credit to the staff at Kanturk Golf Club,' he said. Organisers were particularly pleased to see many past and present footballers and hurlers among the teams, representing GAA clubs, local businesses, and individuals. Strong tee box sponsorship and positive sentiment around Cork and Kerry's performances on the playing fields added further to the lively atmosphere. Out on the fairways, competition was keen, with top honours going to the experienced trio of Marian O'Leary, Tadhg, and Anne O'Flynn. Duhallow GAA Board Vice Chairman Tony McAulliffe praised the efforts of the divisional senior football management team and Board Treasurer Joe Kearns in coordinating the event, extending thanks to all who supported the Golf Classic. 'This was a wonderful social and sporting occasion for all involved, Duhallow GAA supporters and keen golfers. 'A huge amount of work goes into organising the golf classic from co-ordinating tee times to sponsorship and securing teams to participate, all credit to those involved on the staging, the proceeds support our football and hurling teams,' he said.
