Omani golfers set to compete at Pan Arab Golf
MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman is set to participate in the 2025 Pan Arab Junior and Ladies Golf Championship, scheduled from May 7 to 10 in Cairo, Egypt. This tournament, organised by the Arab Golf Federation in collaboration with the Egyptian Golf Federation, will be held at two premier venues: Madinaty Golf Club and Katameya Dunes Golf Club . Oman are among the 13 nations confirmed for the championship, alongside Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and host nation Egypt. Team Oman's inclusion underscores the country's commitment to nurturing golf talent and engaging in regional competitions. The Oman team comprises of the following players in Ladies section: Huwaida al Barwani, Sheikha al Ghaithi and Wafa al Hadhrami. The Girls U16 team include Miraeri Sampat and Yasmin al Kathiri. The Boys U13 team include Yusuf al Rumhi and Taimur al Busaidy while the Boys U18 team is represented by Pransh Jagwani. Board members Ahmed al Jahdhami and Nikhil Sampat will accompany the delegation. Coinciding with the championship is a 'Golf Festival' at Madinaty Golf Club, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Arab Golf Federation. The festival aims to increase public engagement with golf and will feature performances by The Trick Shot Boys, appearances by international golf education experts, entertainment activities, prize giveaways, and food and beverage options.

MUSCAT: A contingent of talented young golfers will represent Oman at the 2025 Pan Arab Junior and Ladies Golf Championship, to be held from May 7 to 10 in Cairo, Egypt. The prestigious event, hosted by the Arab Golf Federation in collaboration with the Egyptian Golf Federation, will be staged across two of Cairo's premier courses – Madinaty Golf Club and Katameya Dunes Golf Club. Oman will join 12 other nations including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and hosts Egypt – a strong lineup that reflects the growing competitiveness and appeal of golf in the Arab region. The Oman Golf Association has fielded a promising squad across four categories. The ladies team comprises Huwaida Al Barwani, Sheikha Al Ghaithi, Wafa Al Hadhrami while the U16 girls team include Miraeri Sampat and Yasmin Al Kathiri. The boys U18 squad is represented by Pransh Jagwani while the boys' U13 team consists of Yusuf Al Rumhi and Taimur Al Busaidi. Over 110 players from 12 nations – Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and host nation Egypt – are confirmed to participate. Tournament activities will be split between two venues. The opening ceremony is scheduled for May 7th at Madinaty Golf Club. Official competition rounds will be held on May 8th and 9th at Katameya Dunes Golf Club. The event concludes with the closing ceremony and prize distribution on May 10th, returning to Madinaty Golf Club. Running alongside the main competition, the 'Golf Festival' aims to attract the public and increase community engagement with golf. Egypt to Host Arab Junior and Ladies Golf Championship in May
Egypt is set to host the 24th edition of the Arab Junior and Ladies Golf Championship from 7-10 May, the Egyptian Golf Federation has announced. The tournament, sponsored by the Arab Golf Federation, will take place at both Madinaty Golf Club and Katameya Dunes Golf Club in Cairo. The championship will feature five age categories for boys and girls, as well as a ladies' category. The event has a long history, with one of the categories being held for the 24th time, while others will be held for the 16th, fifth, fourth, and second times, respectively. The competition will include member states of the Arab Golf Federation eligible to participate: Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. The championship aims to promote and support golf in the Arab region, as well as develop the sport by providing more opportunities and improving the quality of competition for players from member federations and Arab individuals at both regional and international levels. Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, expressed his delight at the federation hosting the first amateur tournament on the Arab Golf Federation's 2025 agenda. 'It is a great honour for us to organise the Arab Junior and Ladies Championship in a joint event between Madinaty Golf Club and Katameya Dunes Golf Club,' he said. Talaat added that the tournament will be the first major regional championship held during the new board's term, noting that the Golf Federation has ambitious plans to organise and host golf tournaments at a completely new level in Egypt, the Arab region, and North Africa, for both amateurs and professionals. This will be in cooperation with local, regional, and international golf bodies, alongside professional golf tours from around the world. 'For the first time, this year's Arab Junior and Ladies Championship will see the public invited to attend the tournament events, with a focus on attracting residents of Madinaty through the organisation of a 'Golf Festival' at Madinaty Golf Club on the sidelines of the tournament,' Talaat said. The festival will include recreational golf activities and musical performances, with the aim of attracting all age groups and introducing them to the sport in an enjoyable way. 'We seek to spread the culture of golf and encourage more individuals to practice the game at various levels,' he added. Talaat affirmed that the Egyptian Golf Federation is looking forward to strengthening Egypt's position on the sports tourism map by organising the championship to the highest standards and hosting it at Cairo's magnificent golf courses.
