Liberty! continues for the rest of June
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals continues on weekends through the rest of June. ABC Tri-Cities Morning Anchor John Jenco took Good Morning Tri-Cities on the road to check out what's happening at Fort Watauga. This weekend, the shows are on Friday and Saturday night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. For the last two weekends in June, Liberty! will also run shows on Thursday nights, in addition to Friday and Saturday. Next Thursday, June 19, is Military and First Responder Appreciation Night. Just show your military ID or first responder badge, and you and a friend can get in free. ‘Book of Mamaw' returning to the stage in Greeneville
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – 'The Book of Mamaw', a popular one-man show spearheaded by Eugene Wolf, will once again take the stage in downtown Greeneville. The show is set for Sunday, June 22 at 3 p.m. Community members can watch it in the Ginny Kidwell Amphitheater at Dogwood Park behind Tusculum View Elementary School. The performance is free and open to the public. There will be existing seating options in the amphitheater, but bring your own lawn chairs or blankets for maximum comfort. Axe and Ale House to host fundraiser in support of St. Jude
BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) – Axe and Ale House in Bristol, Virginia, is a great place to eat, drink, gather and play. However, in July, management hopes the venue will also serve as the perfect place to give back as they host a fundraiser in support of St. Jude hospitals and research. The venue will play host to a unique art competition on July 12, with applications for artist participation due by June 21. The cost is $10 for each artist to apply and up to 21 people will be selected. There will be prizes for those who place in the top three. For more details and to register, click here. Bristol Amateur Radio Club hosting free field day event
BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Bristol Amateur Radio Club (BARC) is inviting the community to join in the discovery of amateur radio at its annual Field Day event. The event will be held June 28 and 29 at White Top Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee. According to the organization, each year, more than 35,000 amateur radio operators, affectionately known as 'hams', gather with their clubs in parks, fields and backyards to demonstrate ham radio`s science, skill and service to their communities. Jonesborough remembering Memorial Day with ceremony, movies
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Tennessee's Oldest Town is honoring fallen veterans throughout the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Monday's Memorial Day ceremony runs from noon to 2:00 p.m. with live performances, a veteran-owned food truck and free movies at the Jackson Theatre. Catch 'Sergeant York' at 3 p.m. and 'Hacksaw Ridge' at 7 p.m. on Monday. 'Patton' will be shown at 3 p.m. the following Sunday. Tickets are free, but need to be reserved in advance. T.
